  1. Lastings looks like a complete fool. ] Lastings' latest bad rap Foul mouth strikes out By IAN BEGLEY DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER Wednesday, May 16th 2007, 4:00 AM Lastings Milledge's rap has gone from bad to worse. Milledge, who ticked off Met teammates last season with his on and off-the-field antics, has taken poor judgment to a new level, performing on a rap song that would make Don Imus blush. The rappin' right fielder uses the N-word and bitch and also says "ho" in a song featured on his new record label's Web site. Milledge, performing on souljaboirecords.com, raps about "rich (N word)," "wealthy (N word)," a "top-notch ho" and having "a different bitch for every night" on the sexually explicit song "Bend Ya Knees." Milledge, the Mets' 22-year-old phenom playing at Triple-A New Orleans, is the CEO of Soul-ja Boi records, a Florida-based label. He performs on the Web site with rapper Manny D, a childhood friend who is signed to the label. "He's lost his mind," said City Councilman Leroy Comrie (D-Queens), who sponsored the Council's resolution that condemned use of the N word. "I don't understand how he could, in the spirit of Jackie Robinson, put out music that's so vile, using . . . some of the worst words in music." In addition to his choice of language, Milledge's timing is also awful, as the song comes on the heels of the firing of WFAN morning host Imus, who used the words "nappy-headed ho's" to describe the Rutgers women's basketball team. Comrie said he played the song for two female interns who were "horrified" by Milledge's words. Milledge is in Port St.Lucie to rehab an injury. Comrie said the Mets need to help him rehab his image as well. "He needs to be taken in a room by the Mets staff and be made sure he understands that's not the position of a major league athlete or a black male in society," Comrie added. "That's not how he wants his mother or sister treated. It's just ridiculous." In a statement last night, the Mets distanced themselves from Milledge's music project: "We disapprove of the content, language and message of this recording, which does not represent the views of the New York Mets." Reached by the Daily News yesterday, Milledge said he didn't want to comment on his music career during the baseball season and would not confirm it's his voice on the Web site. But Manny D did confirm to The News that it's Milledge's voice. "That's the only song he would be on that's on the album," Manny D said. "He is not trying to get all into rapping because he has to concentrate on baseball. That's his No. 1 priority." The album is expected to be released in August, Manny D said. "Do I feel like he should watch what he says because he's in the public eye? Yeah, but everything he's doing is positive," Manny D said. "He's not out there shooting people or shooting up dope. How can you fault somebody for something they say?" One Mets player, speaking anonymously before last night's game at Shea, wasn't surprised by Milledge's lyrics. "Language like that in a rap song? Shocking!" the player said sarcastically. Milledge was expelled from Northside Christian School in 2003 for having sex with a 15-year-old girlfriend and agreed to enroll in a juvenile arbitration program to avoid prosecution. Soon after the Mets drafted Milledge in 2003, the Daily News reported that he had been accused of having consensual sex with 12 and 13-year-old girls as well, which led to his expulsion from school. Milledge made his big-league debut last May and immediately rubbed some teammates the wrong way by showing up late and high-fiving fans down the right field line after hitting a home run. Milledge, who hit .241 with four homers in 166 at-bats last season, came to spring training last March with a more mature approach, suggesting that he got a bad rap last season. Now he's just producing bad rap. "I don't know what kind of fan base he's trying to attract by denigrating women," Comrie said. "He needs some sensitivity training." Milledge, who said rehab of the sprained ligament in his right foot was "going good," assured Mets fans he won't let hip-hop distract him from his day job. "I'm only talking about baseball right now, I just want to rehab and get back (to New York)," Milledge said. "This is only something for the offseason." bitch

  3. Batty31 wrote: Oh wow...those are great seats. How did you manage to get those? I was only able to get field seats once, and that was the game that was snowed out in April 2000. Figures... But on the positive side, I got two replacement games in subpar seats. My wife got them through work, four tickets, best seats I ever had at a game, wife is not a baseball fan but she thoroughly enjoyed it,apart from the score of course, wants to go again, seats didn't suck.
  4. I was at the game.....it sucked...good seats though...field level,3rd base.
  5. ] Blue Jays 5, Orioles 3 TORONTO (AP) -- Another late-inning loss led to a testy exchange between Baltimore Orioles teammates on Monday night. Outfielder Jay Payton and infielder Melvin Mora traded angry words and nearly came to blows as they left the field following a 5-3 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. Payton, who grounded out to end the game, apparently was upset with Mora for distracting him as Mora took third base on defensive indifference with two out in the ninth. Payton took a called strike on the pitch, leaving him trailing 1-2 in the count to Jeremy Accardo. "It was my fault because I went over there," Mora said. "Maybe his eyes were blinking because I was running." "I'm surprised at the reaction because Jay and I have been friends for a long time. I know we're frustrated because we've lost some games we should have won. I made a mistake in that situation and he wasn't able to swing." Payton said he and Mora patched things up in the clubhouse after the game. "We'll move past it," Payton said. "We didn't lose on a baserunning mistake. That's not why we lost the game. We lost the game as a team." The confrontation came one day after Baltimore gave up six runs in the ninth inning and lost 6-5 in Boston on Sunday.
  6. That blog is pretty funny. ] ESPN wants Rocket's minor-league starts on TV BY KEN DAVIDOFF AND NEIL BEST ESPN is working to televise all of Roger Clemens' minor-league starts, Newsday has learned, and an official announcement could come as soon as Tuesday. Clemens, who re-signed with the Yankees on May 6, is scheduled to make his first minor-league start Friday night for Class A Tampa. From there, he is tentatively scheduled to pitch for Double-A Trenton on Wednesday, May 23. Clemens could be ready to join the Yankees at that point, or he could need more time. ESPN plans to televise Clemens' minor-league starts for only as long as Clemens is in the game. In building up his arm strength, he will likely pitch as few as three innings Friday night. Well, that beats Banagher.
  7. Yancy Street Gang wrote: ="metirish"]I read the Bondy bit,Bondy at Shea can only mean one thing, the MFY are on the road. Well, yeah, but that's true of most people. It's rare that anyone is at Shea when the Yankees are at home, because then the Mets are usually on the road. DUH.....of course that makes perfect sense,Bondy is a wanker though.
  8. I read the Bondy bit,Bondy at Shea can only mean one thing, the MFY are on the road.
  9. I'd not be surprised to hear Wuertz got sent down the road after last night.
  10. ] MOTA’S RETURN NEARS Reliever Guillermo Mota, serving a 50-game suspension for violating baseball’s performance-enhancing drugs policy, joined New Orleans for tonight’s game in Las Vegas as part of his 16-day rehabilitation assignment. Barring rainouts, Mota is eligible to return May 30 against San Francisco.
  11. I didn't hear him Saturday,Bob Raissman did. ] Why we're still in Kiner's corner By BOB RAISSMAN DAILY NEWS SPORTS COLUMNIST Saturday, in the third inning of Brewers-Mets on SportsNet New York, the camera was on Prince Fielder. Ralph Kiner was talking about his dad, Cecil. "He was the best thing to come over from Japan since the Toyota," Kiner said. Kiner's line made me laugh. The way he delivered it was not at all funny. It was sad. Since he was stricken with Bell's palsy in 1998, Kiner has struggled with his speech. The deterioration has caused Kiner, 84, to slur his words badly. At times he seems to have the problem under control and can be understood. But there are other times, which have become more frequent, in which it's impossible to understand what he's saying. By no means, by absolutely no means, is this intended as a call for Ralphie to retire from broadcasting. He should continue doing his thing as long as he wants. It's just that no one, especially big-time Kiner fans, wants to see him embarrassed. It was sad seeing that SNY graphic - "The Voice of Ralph Kiner" - pop on the screen. Those who have loved his work since 1962, when he, Bob Murphy and Lindsey Nelson became the voices of the Mets, did not need the identification tag. They all knew - no matter how Kiner sounded - who was talking. For younger fans, the identification was necessary. Unfortunately, they have never heard Kiner at his best. And yet, if they listen carefully, fans will still hear some great stories, analysis and that grand sense of humor, from a man who has spent a life in baseball. On Saturday it was obvious Kiner's colleagues, Gary Cohen and Ron Darling, were going out of their way to clarify some of Kiner's points. Points made cryptic by the speech problem. Darling and Cohen also did a fine job of keeping Kiner involved (he was passing notes to Cohen about the worst hitting pitchers in baseball history even before his two-inning on-air stint). Observing Kiner's 2007 season carefully, it's apparent SNY executives are trying to create a situation in which he can succeed and be comfortable. Kiner's appearances usually have been limited to two innings and he is only working day games. Still, a little Kiner goes a long way. The man still has something to offer. No matter how he sounds.
  12. This is all for us the fans ,right?,that's why MLB started doing this ,Jones may well be right but as a Mets fan I have zero interest when they play teams from the AL West, and not much interest when it's the AL Central..of course I watch but I suppose I just don't care for any of those teams,at least if it's the AL East I have more than a passing knowledge of the teams. I have no interest in seeing the Royals and A's and the like.
  13. Waldman on the criticism she got after the Clemens knickers wetting incident. ] "Do I get hurt when people rip me? Yes," she said. "I'm extremely sensitive and very emotional and it hurts. But if I can't get used to it and I can't take it I should do something else with my life." (Read more from Waldman and other weekend stuff in my blog at Newsday.com/sports.) Waldman, who at the end of the game welcomed Clemens "home," seemed surprised her reaction had caused a stir. "I'm here and I'm not going anywhere and I don't apologize for who I am," she said. "I never said I was Vin Scully or Bob Costas. That's not why I'm here."
  14. ESPN.com news services In an effort to boost sagging ratings for the World Series, Major League Baseball will announce Monday that the 2007 Fall Classic will start on Wednesday instead of Saturday, USA Today reported. A Wednesday start will allow baseball to avoid playing on Friday, which is TV's second-least watched night after Saturday. If the Series goes to a Game 5, it also would go head-to-head with ESPN's Monday Night Football. According to USA Today, Game 1 will be scheduled for Wednesday Oct. 24. If the Series goes to a Game 7, it will be played on Nov. 1, the first time baseball has scheduled a World Series game in the month of November. It won't be the first time a Series game has been played in November, however, as the Yankees and Diamondbacks played into November 2001 after the season was delayed after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11 of that year. MLB president Bob DuPuy told USA Today that baseball considered starting the World Series on a Tuesday, but that would mean a Series game would be played on a Friday, and avoiding a Friday night game was a priority for the league.
  15. I sent an email to the Mets regarding video of the Agee home run..here is the reply.... ] Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, we do not have access to video of the home run Tommy Agee hit to the Upper Level.

  17. WOW,even by Steinbrenner standards that seems excessive ,I fucking despise Ronan Tyan,I wonder if he payed for his WS rings.
  18. Johnny Damon thought it was a mistake on the scoreboard in Seattle....then he went on to say that if the Sox keep playing like that no one will catch them...is Abrue still the perfect fit for the yankees?
  19. A triple triple ...that ninth inning of the Boston game was fun to watch,Millar made the error?...

  21. ="Frayed Knot"]]Gary likened Gomez running to Willie Mays, and he's right,in full stride he looks like Mays. At least then he was just likening his running style to that of Mays -- and he's right, it kind of is. There could be 20 guys in the league right now as fast as Mays was in his prime, but that's a whole lot different from saying that they can play like him and you'll find a defensive CFer as good as Torii once or twice a decade if you're lucky. Speed's one thing but, unless young Carlos is catching balls while doing handstands down in AA there, scouts invoking TH type-of-D need to be sedated before going totally overboard. Of course,I thought it was kinda funny that Gary invoked those two players when talking about Gomez..
