  1. Let's go get those runs back!
  2. I think it's great that the game today means something whether they win or lose. That said, I hope to all goodness that they win.
  3. I remember watching this Sandy interview live on 02/20/15. http://m.mlb.com/nym/video/v37913883/alderson-sees-harvey-as-full-contributor-all-season I think this is a pretty clear documentation of what the Mets intended to do (and have done) with Harvey this season. I'm not sure where any confusion on either Matt or Boras' part could have occurred. That being said, I believe Matt will keep pitching. If he does shut it down before the club's season is over, he would become one of the more hated players, not only with Mets fans, but in all of MLB.
  4. We had Niese (knees) and Hand earlier this year, but I don't think Colon and Hand have squared off as starters this season. Hand did take the loss out of the bullpen against Colon back in April.
  5. I never need to see O'Flaherty pitch again.
  6. Per Rubin: Cuddyer has a wrist injury. "Grip and range of motion is slim to none," Cuddyer said.
  7. Benjamin Grimm wrote: My feeling is, and has been, that the Mets should trade him after the 2016 season. He'll be two years from free agency and (assuming he's healthy, of course) his trade value will probably be very high. I hope the Mets win a ring or two before that point, though.
  8. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I predict that the Mets will go into Washington with a 6-game lead. (Mets will win two in Miami, Nationals will win three of four from Atlanta.) I had this exact same thought last night. *fingers crossed*
  9. Per Rubin: Infielder Wilmer Flores is away from the New York Mets on Wednesday. Flores traveled to his native Venezuela to be with his ailing grandfather. Flores may rejoin the Mets on Friday in Miami.
  10. Yeah, disregard my lame interpretation of post-season eligibility above. It was probably gleaned from a loose Keith Hernandez statement on the rule. Rules from MLB
  11. I'm close enough to Chicago or even St. Louis that attending a playoff game in one of those cities is not out of the question for me. But I would much rather be rooting for the home team with tens of thousands doing the same as opposed to being one of a handful of visiting fans in the den of the enemy.
  12. I just registered as well. Getting (winning) the opportunity to go would require taking off work, a plane ride and a hotel stay (i.e., many more $$$ than just the tix alone), but who knows when the next chance may be?
  13. As long as the player is within the organization as of 9/1, he is eligible for postseason. Being on the 40-man roster is not a requirement.
  14. Poop...no problem...maybe next year.
  15. After Harvey and deGrom, it seems as if everyone else is a question mark (not necessarily in ability, but in their postseason role). I would imagine (hope) that most of the rest gets shaken out based on how Colon, Niese and Matz pitch down the stretch. My gut tells me Thor will get moved to the pen in any postseason configuration and that if Matz blows folks away in his remaining few starts that he could join Harvey, deGrom and Colon in a starting rotation.
  16. Postseason or not, I feel the Mets are exceeding expectations this season, so I am going to enjoy every minute that they are in first place and not worry about superstition or a possible meltdown in September. They have been a mostly bad team for several years now. If we can't muse about the playoffs now, when can we?
  17. As of yesterday: I don't think he's eligible to come off the DL until at least Sunday, so I don't expect him this weekend.
  18. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. This week my friends are the Cards and Braves. The present supersedes any history.
  19. Reed looks like a done deal pending a physical. http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/13540642/new-york-mets-acquire-right-handed-reliever-addison-reed-arizona-diamondbacks

  21. Well, their pitching is awful. They have the worst team ERA in the AL and third worst in the majors behind Colorado and Philly (and we've seen how the Mets offense has done against those two teams over the past week). Their best starter Clay Buchholz and best reliever Koji Uehara are both on the DL. The Mets will face two lefties this weekend in Henry Owens (rookie) and Wade Miley. This team can hit a bit, but the Mets seem to have the edge in the pitching matchups. This series will be Boston's first ever trip to Citi Field and their first trip to visit the Mets in NY since 2001. David Ortiz is going to have to play some defense if he wants to hit.
  22. I had no love for Chipper in the late-90s, but I have really warmed up to him. He's hard not to like now that he is not tormenting me with nearly every AB.
  23. Welcome A-Backman?
