  1. I agree, I don't get it.
  2. SteveJRogers wrote: And while we are at it, exactly HOW is anyone catching us this year? The Chicago White Sox had a 9 game lead last year in their division at the AS break, and an 11 game lead on Cleveland who was in third. By September 22nd the Indians cut that lead to 1.5 games. Oh, and that 2005 White Sox team was better than the 2006 Mets to this point. Now, the Mets play in a much weaker division and no team has really stepped up. But the Marlins are young, hungry and have more than a little talent. Over the past 40 games, roughly 45% of the season so far, they have a better record than the Mets. And we still have 10 games left with them head to head this season. Is it likely...no. Would I bet on it...hell no. But, please, let's not pretend that it is impossible. That being said, I don't want to think about who can catch us or how they are going to do it. I want to win this division going away by 20+ games. But I do believe this team can play better than they have over the past month or so. And they are going to have to if they want to win it all.
  3. Poopcracker...Valentin lets a hot shot eat him up with the bases loaded. 3-2 Mets in the 6th.
  4. Olson was apparently upset at Cabrerra's "error" and made some gesture or comment on the field. Cabrerra took offense that he was upset.
  5. 3-0 Mets as Valentin scores on a LoDuca double.
  6. Nady goes KABOOM! with Floyd on. 2-0 Mets.
  7. David's going through another one of those streaks where he's striking out a lot. I'd love it if he were a little more agressive on the first pitch because everyone is throwing fastballs over the plate because they know he'll take it, and then busting him inside when he's behind in the count.
  8. Valentin, you mustachioed stud.
  9. Sweet, Valentin scores 4 more! No pressure Pelfrey, pitch like you own 'em.
  10. Chavez/LoDuca way better than Valentin/Woodward. C'mon guys, I want some more.
  11. Chavez, Valentin, Woodward due up in the ninth as I pray a little pray.
  12. Mother of Pearl...grrrr.
  13. Who's hurt?...Gameday just says injury delay.
  14. I can tell this lineup is ugly without even reading the names. 2 hits, 7 strikeouts, 7 left on base, 2 runs scored (on 0 hits, both unearned) through 7 innings. The pitching has done it's part, frankly more than I expected...we need a couple of runs guys.
  15. On the plus side, Maine seems to be getting better with each start...granted he's given up 3 homers, they were all solos and he's keeping the team in the game and staying away from the big inning.
  16. I don't...no agenda. I'm not someone who thinks about how bad it can get and then roots for it to happen just to be right. Putting up 3 in the 5th helps.
  17. KC wrote: Hard to tell how a manager or a team is "taking" things like a series though in my opinion. Starting pitchers are Lima, Maine and Pelfrey...he sits Delgado, Floyd, Valentin and LoDuca againt Willis...I doubt if any of them will play 2 tomorrow...making errors on routine plays. I know some of these are situational, but I would imagine if asked the response would be something like, "having a 12.5 game lead allows us to get our guys some rest."
  18. Is anyone else here worried about the Marlins? They are the only team left in the East that has a higher amount of games against us than games they are trailing in the standings...and they have been playing as good if not better ball than us over the past 6 weeks. It just seems to me that Willie and the gang may be taking this series a little lightly.
  19. 7-0 and counting. Grand slam by Willis. Just retire Lima.
  20. This lineup sucks. This is a 2005 lineup. Franco, Woody, Marrero and Castro against one of the top pitchers in the league. Oh, and Lima's pitching. I feel dirty. Two straight innings that the Mets get the leadoff batter to 2nd with no outs but can't score a run.

  24. Yup...and he gets plunked leading off the 6th.
