  1. Beltran 2 Martinez 1 Wright 1 Feliciano 1 Sanchez 1 Wagner 1 Reyes 1 Franco 1 Valentin 1
  2. Brewers get 3B David Bell from Philly for RHP Wilfrido Laureano. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060728&content_id=1580362&vkey=news_mil&fext=.jsp&c_id=mil Almost makes up for the one-sided (but not lopsided) trade they made earlier today.
  3. Time for stat checker on Post Game Live after the 7/28 game. Steve Berthiaume was interviewing Keith after the game and mentioned how good it was that Wright got his first HR since the AS break. Keith then mentioned that Wright had a HR in Chicago. Steve then threw it down to Chris Cotter who interviewed Wright. Same question: How does it feel to have your first HR since July 9th. David said that actually he had one in Chicago. After the next commercial break, Steve recapped the game again. Again he mentioned how good it was that David hit a HR since he hadn't had one since the AS break. He then said, "He did have a couple in Pittsburgh...but those don't count." Jeez, how many times can you get the same thing wrong?
  4. I'd take him on for next to nothing. My caveat would be that he would have to fit the role that best suits the team. I don't want to send him out to the mound every 5th day to allow 7 runs a game just because he's Greg Maddux. That being said, I think he would perform better on a better team.
  5. Milwaukee really should have made a decision earlier about this. If they would have offered the same contact to Lee a month ago or earlier, I think they may have been able to keep him. Milwaukee fans will not be happy with this. On the one hand, their team finally ponied up with a sizable offer to their big time slugger...yet it still ends up not being enough and he's traded lesser impact players.
  6. IMO this team is not good enough to win the WS as is.
  7. I guess I don't like the wording of this poll either. We wouldn't know until the offseason if we would be able to re-sign Zito if we were to trade for them. I guess, given what I know about the situation now...there's no way I don't make that deal. If I were to play the odds, I would say there is a better chance of re-signing Zito if he were traded here than Lasting Milledge becoming anything more than a mediocre outfielder.
  8. Yes. Nothing will frustrate me more than winning the division and getting beat in the playoffs.
  9. Myself...I bunt him over. But that's just me.
  10. Maine has earned a spot on this rotation for sure. Although, I said the same of Soler in mid-June.
  11. Beltran steals! Beltran steals! That would show 'em...we're an error and a passed ball away from leading without a hit.
  12. How can Prior go only 5.2 without giving up a hit? 103 pitches. Just another way walks kill.

Right on...there are games where I'll be alone for a few innings at night and keep the play by play to keep myself occupied...I'm going only color from now on.
  14. Yancy Street Gang wrote: Blue caps again: Nice. No pinstripes, though. Solid white uniforms. Probably my favortie uni combo is the solid white with blue caps. I've been meaning to compile a win-loss record according to the different uni combos. Not that it matters, but thought it might be interesting.
  15. Chicago Cubs J. Pierre cf T. Walker 2b A. Ramirez 3b J. Jones rf M. Barrett c J. Mabry 1b A. Pagan lf R. Cedeno ss M. Prior p NY Mets J. Reyes ss E. Chavez lf C. Beltran cf C. Delgado 1b D. Wright 3b J. Valentin 2b X. Nady rf R. Castro c J. Maine p I like this Mets lineup. Glad to see Endy in the 2 hole. Really glad I don't see Woody.
  16. White Sox have hit a skid and are now 7.5 back of the Tigers. Not only that, but by the end of play tomorrow, they could fall from first to third in the wildcard race...as the Yankees and Twins are knocking on the door.
  17. I voted no...I came in right as the top of the 1st inning was ending. Figured I'd go with the odds. No reflection on our team. Mostly, I was annoyed at being asked.
  18. 1. Glengary Glenross A movie I can watch again and again and again. It has superb acting by everyone and great dialogue. I enjoy most of Mamet’s screenplays, but this one by far hit the nail on the head in translating to the screen. No violence, no chicks, no drugs…just two set pieces and a whole lot of cursing. Stayed true to the play and blows me away every time I see it. 2. True Romance Like Mamet, I love Tarantino’s screenplays…also like Mamet, I feel that Tarantino messes his movies up to a certain extent when he directs them. Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction were great flicks, yet still so stylish and overblown that it sometimes got in the way of the story. True Romance keeps the script but lets Tony Scott tell the tale. He gets great performances from an all-star cast. 3. Empire Strikes Back My favorite movie from childhood…again, some great stories are better told when someone other than the writer is telling them. Lucas didn’t have the chance to ruin this movie with cheesy gags and over the top animation. It’s still my favorite of the series, dark yet funny. It will always take me back to being 8 years old again. 4. Swingers Funny, sweet, dated yet hip…this movie always makes me smile. Along with “Beautiful Girls,
  19. Yeah...not good. However, the replay shows he beat the runner.
  20. Game's falling apart now. Stros score 2 insurance runs on some bad defense...LoDuca throws one into centerfield trying to throw out a basestealer...Heilman doesn't hustle to first to make the play on a comebacker. Heilman leaves to a chorus of boos. 7-4 Houston.
