  1. I shat on him a couple of weeks ago saying that if he was going to be a stud that he would be better than he was...but I'll eat my words after tonight's performance. He has had a really great 3 game stretch. Harold Reynolds called it tonight on the postgame when he said that Pelfrey and Schneider were developing a really good rhythm: Pelfrey in 2008 when Schneider is catching him: 2-2, 3.51ERA, 41IP, 44H, 18R, 16ER, 16BB, 27K, 1HR Pelrey in 2008 when Schneider is not catching him: 0-4, 5.28ERA, 29IP, 39H, 17R, 17ER, 14BB, 11K, 3HR Schneider can't hit for shit, but it looks like he may be doing some good for Mike.
  2. Yup, Traxl for sure.
  3. Let's do it again tomorrow. Without the blown save and extra innings.

  5. I'll take the new guy.
  6. Jesus Christmas, what a clusterfuck this team is.

  9. Elster88 wrote: Edit2: But why is an oft-injured Pedro the only guy Willie is willing to stretch out. Shouldn't he be the last guy? Especially in his first game back? Or am I just overtired? Howie and Eddie on the radio were opining that the one thing that Willie leaving him in must prove is that there is no doubt about Pedro's health (arm or hammy), otherwise he probably would have been taken out earlier. But, I agree, I would have not have pressed my luck up by 6.
  10. ="Willets Point"]="TransMonk"]="John Cougar Lunchbucket"]Wonder if Perez doesn't wind up on the DL and we delay the whole Pelfrey-or-Vargas decision for a few weeks. I mean, what is the excuse otherwise. I don't know if they can put him on the DL for being a dumb-ass. See, this is the kind of criticism I don't get. What's dumb about pitching poorly? Do you think he did that on purpose? I don't think he did it on purpose. I think Perez has way to much talent to pitch as badly as he does. Physical talent will only take you so far...eventually you have to learn how to pitch. I believe that is the difference btween Perez being an ace and Perez being Perez.

  12. Is Billy preparing a postgame tonguelashing for Ollie as we speak?
  13. Vargas warming. God, Perez sucks.
  14. He sure looks ugly doing it...but I'll have to agree with you, the numbers don't lie.
  15. ] I don't agree ]Just my two cents ]I agree ]I believe ]In my evaluation That's what makes the democratic process work. And isn't that what Schaefer is all about? If not, just tell me who the player of the game is and I'll stop voting. I wasn't trying to be a dick about it...not like if I gave him 6 points.
  16. Elster88 wrote: Why are peeps giving Wags more beer than Sanchez for the Tuesday 5/27 game? 1. Wags didn't allow a leadoff double. 2. Wags had 2 Ks to Duaner's 1 3. I feel our system undervalues him and I believe he deserves a little more recognition for being one of the better players on this mediocre team. The top of this page shows him earning a little more beer than Luis Castillo and a little less than Nelson Figueroa this month, which is bullshit...and that was before he blew the save. If peeps are going to give middle relievers points in losses where they did little to effect the outcome of the game, other than not put the final score more in the favor of the opposition, than I have no problem giving Wags 2 points when he does his job emphatically in a win (which is the only time he can possibly earn points anyway).
  17. Since going 3 for 4 with 3 doubles...0 for 10, 4 Ks, 13 LOB...ouch. Has anyone seen David Duchovny?
  18. Santana 3 Tatis 2 Castro 2 Wagner 2 Sanchez 1
  19. Yeah, killjoy. Be careful what you wish for, we could easily get Journey or some crap instead.
  20. Multiple bursts of applause from me tonight. Good to hear TCB again.
  21. According to ESPN's sortable stats, Heilman has the most pitches per plate appearance (4.19) for the Mets (which isn't exactly the stat we are looking for, but closest I could find). Maine is second (4.15), followed by Perez (3.99), Wise (3.93), and Pelfrey (3.87). Heilman's 4.19 ranks him 25th in the NL.

Our guys are going to battle. They've been here before and they'll pull through. You know, we missed some opportunities early. But, our guys just need to do well the rest of the way. There's a whole lot of baseball left to be played, man, and, you know, we'll pull through. Doesn't anyone have any questions about the game?
  23. I've officially given up on my dream of Pelfrey being an effective big league starter. If he had the goods, he would be better than he is now. It doesn't help that he can only throw one pitch for strikes.
  24. Pelf looks like his world is falling apart on the mound. 3 run double by Gonzo 5-3 Fish.
