  1. He would have been my only choice.
  2. I would love a dominant outing by Santana. I want to know how these players get new caps to look just like long-worn caps. All of Santana's caps look like a bubble on his head.
  3. Zvon wrote: Mets have the black road jerseys on and, correct me if I'm wrong, caps that are not black, but a real dark shade of blue. Also according to the Phils broadcast, the caps are part of Fred Wilpon's idea to raise money for returning veterans.
  4. According to the Phillies broadcast, Happ is from the Peru/Spring Valley area of Illinois, which is where my maternal grandparents lived while I was growing up. On any other day I'd be rooting for a good day from him.

  6. I hat baseball. This team is worthless. Pedro won't retire...he'll sign as a retread with an AL team next year and finish 3rd in the Cy Young voting while leading them to a championship.

I got to see this no-no-hitter in person. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA199007010.shtml
  8. Yea for Carlos! KABOOM!
  9. Man of the hour Brian Runge. Jerry says he's a master-baiter.
  10. Dana DeMuth
  11. Agreed. Sheets is playing his way out of Milwaukee's payroll this year. My only reservations are that: 1. I would like to see him pitch 200+ innings this year. This guy has Alou syndrome: when he's healthy, he's outstanding, but he's had injury problems throughout his career that will probably only going to get worse with age. 2. He's occasionally been gruff and smarmy with the Milwaukee media. The first time he sits with a blister, he may get eaten alive in New York.

  14. That's 2 of 3 in our last 3 series. Only 3.5 back of the Phils now. Let's beat the M's tomorrow.
  15. Zvon wrote: Did Pelfrey stop wearing the mouth piece or did he just get a better fitting one? I haven't seen it since he started getting better.

  17. Pelf with a nice 3rd, mowing down the top of the order.
  18. Pelfrey skates through the first. Manuel obviously doesn't read the Cranepool yet.
  19. Willie coulda done that.

Saw this today...found it pretty horrible. I hate CGI unless it's part of some fantasy thing that they just can't recreate (and even then it's wrong and annoying, but I guess I understand the ease of it). But scorpions? Fire ants? Trees? This movie was half animation. I should have just gone to see Kung-Fu Panda. The script was bad, Ford is old and even Spielberg seemed to mail it in. Expected, but still disappointing.
  21. I only count 1.
  22. Change is good.

  24. Best game in a while. Lots of hits, lots of runs, great pitching, great defense. Everybody contributed and the Rockies were dominated from the 2nd inning on. The one and only minor gaffe was Schneider's slow/dumb baserunning. 4.5 back. Closest we've been in a couple weeks.
  25. Overall, IMO, pitching coaches are overrated. I admire the fact that Peterson had a vision and a plan, but his rep was pretty much built by the talent he had in Oakland. I'm not sure Warthen would have had any less success had he been pitching coach for the Mets over the past 5 years.
