When your magic number equals the number of games you have left to play, there's really no point in keeping track of it. The way things stand right now, to guarantee a division championship with out help from anyone, they need to go 32-3 the rest of the way. Hardly magical. There's still loads of baseball to be played, and I'm looking forward to it. If we're up by more than 7 games with less than 17 to play, I'll be much more excited.
He's got an option for next year with ATL. I'd be really shocked if he left Atlanta at this point in his career. He's got the whole Ripken, Gwynn, Biggio thing going on down there.
I walked away for 5 minutes. I come back and the Mets have added a run. No mention of D Wrights KABOOM anywhere here. I had to look up the boxscore. Tsk.
I saw the interview and thought it was interesting too. Kinda backhandedly threw Atlanta fans under the bus. Still, It's hard for me to feel sorry for him while his team is not winning after all of those division championships. After all these years, I don't hate Chipper as much as I used to, though.
MLB and ESPN have Oswalt and Backe flipped. Santana vs. Oswalt on Friday looks to be a great match-up as both of them are coming off of nearly flawless performances last Sunday.
