  1. I've been watching This Giant Beast That is the Global Economy which is a documentary series on Amazon hosted by Kal Penn. Their episode on death briefly mentions Brian Cole's death and the $131 million his family won in their lawsuit with Ford.
  2. I'm still not a Gelbs fan. I miss Burkehardt every time I see him doing FOX football games.

  4. Voted "I miss Sandy", but will be interested to see what else (if anything) Brodie will do this offseason.
  5. Centerfield wrote: we will just have to wait and see. I feel like this has been the Mets’ motto for a long time.
  6. Heck of a seventh by Buehler.
  7. Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz also flaunting Mets gear pregame: [tweet:t22vwhm9] [/tweet:t22vwhm9] His dad is Director of Player Relations & Community Engagement for the Mets.
  8. LA in 6.
  9. That's pretty cool.

  11. Huh, me too. I saw this last weekend and thought it was good fun. I'm not normally enthusiastic about the genre, but gave this one a shot based on hype.
  12. Frayed Knot wrote: Ceetar wrote: Whether or not Braun is an asshole, we've got plenty of those, that's a different issue. No, that's the specific issue which Monk brought up. This. Lots of players get caught cheating. You could definitely convince the cynic in me that that situation is now just somewhat baked into baseball. Players cheat, they get caught, they serve a suspension. Most of those guys fess up, give a mumbled apology to a group of reporters at their locker, promise to do better and then serve their time. But Braun lied. Intentionally. To the fans that supported him and hailed him as a hero. Even at my most cynical, that is a mortal sin. But the Brewers fans cheer him. I've spent a lot of time around Brewers fans and they very rarely bring it up...almost like it never happened. They cheered on Hader, too, at his time of controversy. Most, not because they are racist or homophobic, but because he wears the laundry and they want to support and protect members of their tribe.
  13. I would add that Ryan Braun's 2012 PED denial was 2018 way before 2018. From a 2013 Business Insider story: Braun started with denials: "If I had done this intentionally, or unintentionally, I'd be the first one to step up and say 'I did it.' By no means am I perfect, but if I have ever made any mistakes in my life, I have taken responsibility for my actions...I truly believe in my heart, and would bet my life that this substance never entered my body at any point." He then blamed others for tarnishing his name, and that he was putting the game ahead of himself: "There were a lot of times when I wanted to come out and tell the entire story, to attack everybody as I've been attacked, as my name's been dragged through the mud as everything I've worked for my entire life was called into question. There were a lot of times I wanted to come out, tell the entire story, but at the end of the day I recognized what's actually best for the game of baseball and I put that ahead of what was actually best for myself." He claimed he was fighting for others that were wrongly accused: "I've always stood up for what is right. Today is about everybody who's been wrongly accused, and everybody who's ever had to stand up for what is actually right...I will continue to take the high road because that's who I am, and that's the way that I've lived my life. We won because the truth is on my side." And wanted everybody to know that he was the victim: "I am a victim of a process that completely broke down and failed the way it was applied to me in this case." But instead of taking the high road, he then suggested that the test collector was up to no good and wondered aloud if somebody was framing him: "What could have possibly happened to it during that 44-hour period (before the collector took the urine sample to FedEx)? There were a lot of things that we learned about the collector, about the collection process, about the way that the entire thing worked that made us very concerned and very suspicious about what could have actually happened...We spoke to biochemists and scientists and we asked them, 'How difficult would it be to tamper with somebody's sample?' And their response was that, 'If they were motivated, it would be extremely easy.'" He is a cheater AND a liar. It wasn't like he fibbed in response to a question from reporters. He went out of his way to orchestrate a press conference so that he could LIE to the Milwaukee fan base. They still cheer for him like nothing happened. If he were on my team, I'd take some time off from baseball until he was gone. It's amazing to me what people will endure to support their tribe and hope that they win at all costs. /end political analogy
  14. That’s Front Row Amy. She’s had those seats at Miller Park for years.
  15. Give me Sox/Dodgers. I echo most of CF's comments above on Milwaukee.
  16. Milwaukee wastes a great "bullpen start" by blowing the lead in the ninth.
  17. I'm hanging my ottoneu ownership hat up. If anyone wants (or knows someone who wants) to take over my team, I'm happy to turn over the reigns before arbitration and cuts so that a new owner can do as they see fit with what I've got. Otherwise, I'll make those decisions as though I was carrying on, but I'd like to be out before next year's draft for sure.
  18. A-Rod/Bartolo as well.
  19. Man, interleague scheduling is messed up. 2 home/away with each MIN and NYY, 3 at home with each DET and CLE, 3 away with each CWS and KC. Visiting MIN and CWS gives me a few chances to see them in the Midwest next season. I'll meet up with anyone traveling to Minneapolis or Chicago.

It became so vanilla and religious that I think I had to un-follow him. A Boy Named Seo wrote: Who are the 4 dumb shits doing dumb shit on twitter? I only know of Trea Turner and Hader.

  22. The Rays are projecting for the park to open in 2023, no? While this season is lost and I'm not optimistic about 2019, I can't say I'm hopeless about this team for that long. Even teams that have good years miss out on the NLCS, so if you are asking about a zero-sum prediction, the Rays stadium looks to be more of a certainty to be completed within a specific time frame. But, it is definitely possible that the Mets make an NLCS appearance between now and 2022.
  23. I’ll echo that he exceeded expectations his entire time here and provided my favorite moment of 2016. [fimg=500:24hvh2yy]https://usatftw.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/mets.jpg?w=1000&h=600&crop=1[/fimg:24hvh2yy]
