  1. Pitcher June, 2000: Rick Reed?
  2. April 2007 = Jose Reyes
  3. I would guess Wright for June 2006 as well.
  4. June, 2010: David Wright Woot!

I think he knows he's on a direct path to "legacy" because of his career resume and doesn't need 300 as a benchmark for anything. I have to think being a major contributor to a ring would be more important than accumulated wins at this stage of his career.
  6. Santana is Santana. He's our ace. He gives us a legitimate chance to win 9 out of every 10 games he starts. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I want him to be on the hill in every must-win game we play. On edit: And not for nothing, but Cincy would be a playoff team if the season ended now.
  7. Per Wkipedia, both Robert Redford and Jack Nicholson were considered before Polanski landed on Cassavetes.
  8. David wins it. Way to go, Wright!

  10. I'm going to miss you guys by a day. I'm going to make it to one of these things eventually. If anyone is still around on Friday 8/27, let me know.
  11. Who is/was your favorite Canadian baseball player? Jason Bay, of course. Least favorite? Joey Votto, Met killer. What do you like about Canada? Neil Young, low firearm fatality rates, universal health care. What don't you like about it? Bryan Adams, I get stopped every time at the border, frostbite. Have you been to Canada? Yes. Where did you go? All through Ontario (Toronto, Hamilton, London), Montreal Where haven't you gone in Canada, but would like to go? The west coast.
  12. Doh, nope...flying in the morning of Friday the 27th. We're staying in Queens that night and then headed into Manhattan for Saturday and Sunday before leaving Monday. Tight window...I know.
  13. So, my special lady friend and I are coming to the Big Apple in late August and we are going to take in a game at Citi Field on Friday, August 27th. Does anyone have 2 extra tickets for that night against the Astros? I would be willing to pay face value and it would be even sweeter if we had CPFers to go to the game with. If the latter is the case, then a couple of beers would be on me. If nothing else, I'll go through Mets.com or Stubhub...but wanted to check here first. PM me if you're interested.
  14. Will Toronto wear white and get last ups?
  15. When the situation calls for a suicide squeeze:

  18. I just find it refreshing that we have more than enough pieces to be involved in the rumor for what is likely to be the biggest deadline name this season. Pagan/Mejia is too much unless we can guarantee an extension negotiation and they throw in a AAA CF. IMO Pagan/Mejia are worth more than the players we sent to Minny in the Santana deal.
  19. 1999: Shawon Dunston - my favorite rental

  22. I'd agree. For a guy who has managed a team of youngsters to a 3 games under .500 record over 3 and a half years, it sounds like he is getting the shaft.
  23. He's saying that Beltran's doubled 2009 (.325, 20 HR, 96 RBI) is better, but not that much better than Pagan's projected 2010 (.296, 10 HR, 74 RBI)? Double the HRs and 30% more RBI is that much better. Especially when your RF is Francouer. Granted, these are all phantom stats, but Marchand brought them to the table. A doubled 2009 Beltran would also have over 100 points more OPS than Pagan's projected 2010. I love the way that Pagan has played this year. I'm also going to be suspicious of Beltran's ability until he is actually playing MLB games. But, sorry Andy, a genuinely healthy Beltran is better than Angel Pagan in every way, IMO.
  24. Yeah, his Ks are down and his WHIP is up...but his overall numbers this year are looking very similar to his 2007 season. The season after which we decided to give him a kajillion dollars. I think it's going to take a few seasons of markedly declining numbers before we can start thinking about griping. Even then, we should probably bite our tongues as his numbers will still look pretty good compared to the league average.
  25. We've gotten pretty much what I expected out of him in his 2+ years as a Met. He's undoubtedly been the ace of teh staff and is the guy I would want to have the ball in a must win game. To expect Cy Young years is setting yourself up for disappointment. The run support thing is as troubling as anything to me. I think some of it may be in the heads of the offensive players. The ace vs. ace thing has something to do with it as well, I'm sure.
