  1. My special lady friend saw this last night with one of her girlfriends. They went to one of the Sundance theaters where you can drink wine while you watch the movie. When she got home she said she LOVED it. Harry Potter doesn't do it for me, but I'm glad she had fun.
  2. Per Wikipedia: According to director Gus Van Sant, [the B52's Private Idaho] was the song that inspired the title to his movie My Own Private Idaho. The song does not appear in the film.
  3. Edgy likes them relievers.

  5. I'd say High Fidelity. Cusack has been in some pretty cool movies in his day, but there are also some real head scratchers. 2012 may be the worst movie I've ever seen...and that's not an exaggeration.
  6. Surprisingly not bad. One of the better lowbrow comedies I've seen in a while. Best Cusack film since...?
  7. I don't think I've ever enojyed any film that has featured him as an actor, director, producer or composer.
  8. Caught the first 6 minutes of this one before my girl came in the room: "What band is this about?" "Rush." "Ohhh..." I'll have to queue this up for sometime when she's out knitting or something.
  9. I vote for Matt Frewer a.k.a. Max Headroom as Art Howe:
  10. Edgy DC wrote: I didn't know Pele ever did gay porn. Viewers found it really frustrating when after 90 minutes nobody had scored.
  11. Per Wkipedia, both Robert Redford and Jack Nicholson were considered before Polanski landed on Cassavetes.

It was only 5 months and I rented it on DVD. We just got a fancy new TV a few months ago. I still fell asleep. I guess the 3D glasses might have helped me stay awake.
  13. I will go see this. I think Robert Rodriguez makes some great camp.
  14. Will do...thanks!
  15. My problem with Downey is that he has made a career out of playing snarky, witty, arrogant douchebags with a fair amount of charm. I have a harder and harder time liking his characters, so I also have a harder time rooting for them. I'd like to see him play somebody other than an older version of Ian from Weird Science.
  16. I didn't like it much at all. I haven't seen a movie that's knocked my socks off in a while. BOO!
  17. It's really just me mouthing off. I don't have anything against Stewart, I just don't think she is anything to write home about as an actress. In my mind's eye, the Runaways movie I would want to see would be cast with a group of unknown teenage actresses who are preferably punk-rawkish and hopefully, genuinely love the Runaways. I think casting two under-20 "it" girls and billing their names above the movie title on the poster goes against anything that the Runaways ever were about. But, from what I hear, Joan Jett herself was invovled with production, so who am I to say anything.
  18. I get it...I get it. I'm sure she'll be the Joan Jettiest Joan Jett ever.
  19. I guess I don't share the same affinity for her part in Adventureland that others on this board have. I thought she made a pretty bad movie worse. I don't think she particularly looks like Joan Jett and she was born a decade after the Runaways were even around. I am of the opinion that the only reason she (and Dakota Fanning) are in this movie is to sell it to teens. Which is fine...it's the Hollywood way. But I'm not expecting any notable performances from the cast. I'm sure the costumes, makeup and, of course, the music will be great.
  20. I appreciate the subject of the film...but Kristen Stewart? Ugh. We'll see, but I'll probably wait until the DVD comes out in August.
  21. Finally saw this last night...I agree, it was an interesting interpretation of the book. Not a great movie, but interesting and visually beautiful. I love that that this movie had guys in suits and saved the CGI solely for the faces of the monsters. Much more real to me.
  22. Page's best work IMO (and most "bitchy") is in this one: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0424136/
