  1. Following the pushed-back hat and the grin, I love Addison's slow saunter walking off the field after he finished an inning or a game. He looks like an old-timey sheriff who just busted 3 bank robbers on the street, and now he's going to the saloon to get himself a big mug of beer. His big gold chain though... Cmon bro, a big gold chain? Super reliable, and not at small work-rate either.. Filled in very well at closer with drama-free results. A very good Met acquisition, and hopefully a good trade for both.

  3. I fondly remember the grand slam he hit against Cincy on clinch day a couple years back. Not so fondly, the shitty throw in the World Series. On the Ike/Duda coin flip, I had no idea who would be the good/better choice. Kudos, Mets, for getting it right and letting us see the best of Lucas Duda, I'm sure. Good luck, ya giant, ogre mute.

  6. All the outlets that buzz on my iPhone are now reporting. Mets get 23-year old RHP Drew Smith in return. Stats indicate he has a "live arm" Is that enough? Better 1 good one than 3 schmoes, sez me.
  7. Wait, so we didn't get Damien Magnifico??

  9. Michael Conforto, All Star and the team's best offensive player this year, has inexplicably spent way too much time as a 4th outfielder. New third base coach Glenn Sherlock seems to have sent too many runners rounding third towards their death at home (sorry if my memory is unfairly slamming you, Glenn). Robles and Salas turning into completely unreliable turds.

  12. I do hope Big Bart finds his way back to Queens. If this is truly it for him, then he gets one last-go and finishes a Met, a team I think he might be the most heavily identified with (pun intended) because of his lovable John Candy antics here. He was a stud fireballer with the Indians, and won a Cy and threw a no-no with the Angels, but he did historical and hysterical shit with the Mets. He's such the redemption story (and dammit we need something redeeming this year). Busted for PEDs, but comes back more popular than ever in the second act of his career. Legitimately obese, but for years, got prime physical specimens out with guile, a darting 89-MPH fastball, and jack shit else. Bartolo gives the common fan hope. Hope that he or she can rebound from whatever stupid thing made their life difficult, and even at a late stage, turn it all around just like he did (and dammit we need some hope this year!) He is "Every Man". We see ourselves in him. An older, tubby guy who looks like he just pushed himself off a couch, set down a bag of Doritos, and then starts getting Major League hitters out with ease, all the while wearing this magnetic, impish smile. "If that guy can do it, I can do it," some of us think. We're wrong, of course, but he's a star we can almost touch. A super bright, low-hanging, morbidly obese, cartoon of a star. GO GET HIS BIG DUMB ASS says me, too. #BringBartHome
  13. Looks like his velocity is the same as last year, he's just starting walking dudes at twice the rate and is giving up more homers (14.3% HR/FB compared to 11.5 last year), something 44-year old dudes don't likely get better at. Still, his FIP and xFIP are both over 3 runs better than his actual ERA, leaving you with a 5 ERA pitcher. If the BABIP drifts south of its current .360, you could have a 4.50 ERA Bart for cheap-o. Plus, all the jiggling!
  14. He checks my boxes on the entertainment, imminent need, and 'fuck it, who cares anyway?' requirements. Gotta be as close to free as free can be, though.
  15. The Mets need to keep pissing off Asdrubal.

  17. Did Ichiro vote for Trump or something? I think he's great.
  18. If we're gonna do this shit, then lets go big like the White Sox did when they traded Chris Sale and Adam Eaton and cleared out other teams' farm systems. Jacob deGrom and Wilmer Flores to Houston for 3B Alex Bregman, RHP Francis Martes, OF Kyle Tuker, and RHP David Paulino. Astros get their shot at a World Series and the Mets get a young, toolsy 3B-man and three blue-chip, ML-ready (or near-ready) prospects. Plus we're gonna need that Kyle Tucker kid when we trade Jay Bruce and Curtis Granderson.
  19. Wriggled nicely out of that would-be mess.
  20. We got trouble. Right here in Little Citi.
  21. the healthiest right fielders and #6 starters in all of baseball, mother truckers!
  22. I wonder if MLB will allow #'s and @'s. I would hope and guess not. Nicks do not equal social media handles.

  24. I'm a million percent certain this will morph into a $$ opportunity for MLB down the road, but for this inaugural thing it's supposed to be all for charity. The jerseys from the weekend will be sold by MLB, which will donate the proceeds to the Youth Development Foundation, an initiative on which the league and MLBPA work together.
  25. I'm sure there will be a couple nicknames that get unveiled and will surprise people. And I hope there's a guy you don't expect to be flamboyant - like Duda or Plawecki or something - that just goes nuts and has neon pink cleats and looks outrageous. And would love to see a Jennifer Aniston patch on Wilmer's uni. Dumb, I guess, overall, but not without potential for some goodness to sneak in.
