  1. Is the KTE a long dead thing? I need to pay some attention round here.
  2. I feel like Granderson wasn't as beloved out of the gates. He certainly earned his belovedness in time. Agreed w/ Ocho on Davis and Broxton. Edwin Diaz will "become a Met" after the first big save he blows.
  3. Mets head to Atlanta and their crumbling and ancient 2-year old park for a big (?!) yes, big! 4-game set starting tonight against the 7-4, tied-for-first Braves. We line up Matz-Wheeler-Vargas-deGrom. Braves.com only confirms one-time Oriole prospect Kevin Gausman as tonight's starter, the others are currently listed as TBD as they were rained out last night and probably trying to figure out how/if to shuffle. Gausman has had only 1 start and he shut out the Marlins over 7 innings. Tonight, he'll face a real offense. Other dudes in the rotation we are likely to see include old foe Julio Teheran, Kyle Wright (their #1 pitching prospect), and lefty Sean Newcomb, another highly thought-of young arm. Their lineup should look mostly like this: Ender Inciarte CF Josh Donaldson 3B Freedie Freeman 1B Ronald Acuña Jr LF Nick Markakis RF Dansby Swanson SS Ozzie Albies 2B Tyler Flowers C Freeman is being Freddie Freeman and hitting a cool .400 with a 1.095 OPS. Young studs Acuña and Albies are off to slow starts, as are old studs Donaldson and Inciarte. Donaldson signed a 1-year $20-something million dollar deal, so he'll be allowed to suck for a good while, I imagine. Lets hope that continues through the weekend. I see a couple of bloated ERAs in their bullpen, so maybe they've been as shoddy as we've been. Closing duties are supposed to be shared by righty Aroldis Vizcaino and lefty AJ Minter. Note: Dansby Swanson is not the name of a woman Marlon Brando is trying to bed in a Street Care Named Desire, nor is it the name of a fancy cocktail you order at the Kentucky Derby. Dansby Swanson is a baseballer for the Braves. Now you know thine enemy. Let's kick the asses of thine enemy.
  4. Yeah, Carter and Straw on the mound is funny, but Doc's dead-center and that's his domain. I like how the photog is like 8 feet tall or climbed a ladder to get a down shot Davey and the guys on top of the elevated pitcher's mound. Bonus points for orange font that goes with the Met colors. It looks nice from my eyeballs, but I'm leaning towards the Spy Who Shagged Me.
  5. These two are outstanding What a wallpaper on McCall's. I feel like this cover was the inspiration for all the Austin Powers movies. But Davey is amazing, too. I'm gonna have a think on this one.
  6. They still there? Or did they go home together?

Lost in all the HRs yesterday was big Pete totally whiffing on a ball hit right to him which led to several of those runs. That play was particularly uggo as he stabbed with a backhand at a ball that went between his legs, bless his giant, polar heart.
  8. Me: how the fuck do you swing on 2-and-oh... base hit!!! Yay, Ramos!!!
  9. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: A Boy Named Seo wrote: Thanks for joining guys. I was hella lonely. Was busy managing the Cheetos to bases-loaded walks You and Baldelli both. Nice to be on the other side of a walk-fest today. Hey conforto, how bout a bases clearing double so I can chill the rest of the night?
  10. Thanks for joining guys. I was hella lonely.
  11. He somehow walks syndergaard anyway. Nimmo up, sacks drunk, 2 outs and Odorizzi out. Amazin.
  12. I get jeff was playing it safe, but if you're not gonna to bust it home, then bust it back to third.
  13. McNeil busts up the no-no in the 5th with a dunker to left.
  14. Bottom 4, 1-nil Twins. Also we have no hits.
  15. Sleek as a Flamenco dancer at shortstop, too.
  16. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Peterson did not instill much cahnfidence in me during that last outing. Oswalt doesn't instill much either.
  17. I can't believe JD hasn't logged any pro SS reps.
  18. Subtitle: The JD Davis Conundrum. https://nypost.com/2019/04/10/mets-giving-todd-frazier-some-reps-at-shortstop/Nooz outlets are reporting that Frazier is taking reps at shortstop so the Mets can see if he can be a reliable backup for Rosario. He played 9 innings yesterday (4 at short), so presumably this decision isn't too far off. Why not try it out, Mets? Good on ya. With regard to third base, JD's been a little frustrating throwing the ball, but I think I'd still rather not see Frazier take a bunch of his ABs (or McNiel's, for that matter). I bet BVW doesn't really want to demote JD after trading youngins for him. I'm not psyched to demote Dom Smith either. He's been a great bat off the bench and is solid late-inning D guy. But maybe he's the wisest choice here. Frazier new bench bat/glove guy? All of this depends on whether Frazier embarrasses himself at shortstop or not. What would you do? What do you think BVW does?
  19. Yeah, counts everywhere. This guy, too. "The U.S. does not support actions that would institutionalize a system by which a Cuban government entity garnishes the wages of hard-working athletes who simply seek to live and compete in a free society," said Garrett Marquis, a National Security Council spokesman. Instead, these working athletes who simply seek to live and compete in free society can continue to play in Cuba where they will essentially have no wages for the government to garnish, and when they show up here seeking a safe place to live and work, well, we know how that's gonna go.
  20. This is a couple days old, but pretty newsworthy. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2019/04/08/mlb-cuba-agreement-cancel-trump-administration/3403971002/https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2019/04/08/mlb-cuba-agreement-cancel-trump-administration/3403971002/ Trump squashes a posting system MLB worked out with Cuba. The administration would apparently rather see dudes jumping fences in the middle of the night and hopping on a raft than support a posting system that, according to Marco Rubio, amounts to paying the Cuban government ransom for baseball players. Discuss.
  21. No, I agree with you completely. Every fan of every team is calling for Kimbrel, but if he were a Met, he would not have been in that game yesterday anyway. The middle guys have been sucking hard though. I thought Peterson was winning me over til that beating against the Nats. I think everyone's laid a turd so far, Familia and Gselly included. Sugar's the only guy who has danced his way around his own bad pitching.
  22. I love the greatest infield cover, but damn, that Bazaar cover is so bizarre, it got my vote. I didn't even recognize the recognizable hero but hairy forearms (and caterpillar brows!) be damned, Sham looks like a star. Bonus points for a national/non-sports cover.
