4. A friend of ours RENTED OUT AN ENTIRE THEATRE next week to see this movie and he we all have to dress in theme. None of that is made up. There is a hype around this film that feels positively Swiftie. Have you seen it? Will you see it?
5. Other Mets who threw right and batted left that I just thought of: Wheeler Syndergaard Maybe Kellum should pitch.
6. At 6:16 PM Eastern on July 11, 2023, we welcomed Kellum Clark to the family when he was selected with the last pick (20th round, 606th overall) by the Mets in this year's draft. He's a healthy, bouncing 22-year old boy, weighing in at a whopping 205 pounds and a rangy 76 inches (6' 4" for the rest of you). He's a Mississippi boy through and through, hailing from Brandon, Mississippi and repping Brandon High School before moving on to Mississippi State. Even his name Kellum sounds especially southern to this westerner's ears. He's an outfielder who throws with his right hand and bats lefty (like Jacob deGrom and probably some other dudes that I can't think of). In 3 years at Miss State, he hit .270/.376/.540 with 30 bombs. At 22, I imagine he'll sign quickly and will be pushed pretty hard to escape the low minors and eventually win an MVP like these other low draft picks. Fun fact: Kellum joins a decently long list of MSU alums drafted by the Mets - Jake Mangum, JT Ginn, Rowdey Jordan, Jett Williams, and this year's #1 pick, Colin Houck, who'd committed to MSU. Wow, fun! Here's Kellum before he swaps that burgundy for some blue and orange:
