Seaver, Koosman, and Jones received the honor as Mets, and eventually went on to the White Sox. KA-POW! Suck it, Ken Jennings! Good job! How'd you figure it out? I thought this quiz'd be up here for days and then I'd finally put out the answer.
  3. Lotsa heroes of the '69 World Series here.

Seaver, Koosman, and Jones received the honor as Mets, and eventually went on to the White Sox. KA-POW! Suck it, Ken Jennings! Holy Moley@! The answer was in the cards, indeed. The first group of players were named to the Topps All Star Rookie Team as White Sox before eventually coming to the Mets. In the Bizarro version of the quiz, the players were named to the Topps All Star Rookie Team as Mets before eventually going to the White Sox. Congratulations, and thank you for playing. This has been a Mark Goodman-Bill Todson production. Contestant prizes were furnished by Dicker & Dicker of Beverly Hills. batmagadanleadoff's wardrobe and accessories, including pale hosiery, were provided by Botany 500.
  5. Daniel Murphy entered today's game 11th in WAR and 12th in OPS in the NL.
  6. Hit grand slams on a Sunday? Lter No. But we could use a grand slam today as insurance. If this were the Bizarro world; if I had to come up with a corollary, or second version of this quiz, the question would be: What do the following Mets, and only the following Mets, have in common?

How much I hated that bunch. Compounded. By McEwing and Shinjo's inexplicable popularity. Between those two and then that fraud Ordonez, another popular Met, I used to ask myself who the hell are these Mets fans? What the hell are they seeing that I'm not? And all of that taking place in the hideous soul-sapping black drop shadow abominations.
  8. It's so much easier to just concede that this is gonna be a lost season. Where the hell are they going with two and a half minor pitchers and an outfield that's worse than Shinjo-Payton-McEwing and not even in the same ballpark as ol' Casey's Thomas, Ashburn and Hickman? This way, for example, I can enjoy Duda's audacious home runs and keen batting eye without getting all worked up over the inevitable Hundleyesque outfielding gaffe with the game on the line (and it's coming, don't kid yourself) that'd ordinarily make you wanna tear your eyeballs out.
  9. Gwreck wrote: Maybe, but isn't Darryl Boston missing then? Daryl Boston? There's gotta be about 50 or 60 Mets that played for the White Sox.
  10. Yeah, all were former White Sox. That makes 'em Southsiders. But that can't be the answer because the question reads, in part: and only the following Mets They weren't the only Mets to play for the White Sox. See, e.g.:

Too bad your formula didn't apply to Ike Davis' ankle injury in 2011. He would have only missed about four games. Overall, I'm way more accurate than whatever info the teams are putting out, but sometimes, I miss badly.

Yeah, turns out that he's subject to the same laws of physics and biology as everyone else. My formula for predicting when a baseball player will return from an injury is to always double the amount of time the team says will transpire before the player returns.

  19. Lucas Duda has 11 walks, ordinarily enough to lead the majors in that category this early in the season. Except that Joey Votto has 21 walks. 21!

  21. Cowgill and Byrd? Those are our outfielders? I never thought I'd see the day when I'd be pinin' for McEwing and Shinjo.
