  1. "Harvelous is such a tough act to follow. It's like having to follow Jimi Hendrix at Monterey." "Or like having to follow another comedian. The audience is all laughed out by the time I'm on stage."* "Where's Harvey Cowznofski?" * This is my second Annie Hall reference this week. See, Heavyosity, the rock group, in the question/answer thread.
  2. Guest Host Harvey Korman is on vacation today, instead counting the money from yesterday's Harvey gate. But first, a shout-out to Keith You-Know-Who, lurking in the shadows: "Where's Headley?" Today's episode of The Harvelous Harv Show: When's Harvey Pitching? guest starring: Jeremy Hefner

Some of their past comments were aligned with oddball or obtuse posts here to the point that the similarities between their comments and our posts were, I thought, beyond coincidence.

Great stuff. I missed the beginning of the conversation, but after Harvey's 4th K, radio Lewin was talking about Harvey Korman. I'm alternating between TV and radio tonight, by the way.

  10. This article is from either 1935 or 1937:
  11. I ran to home plate. There was a bunch of people standing around doing nothing. I took out my Boy Scout knife thats the truth and started digging. Someone stepped on my hand closing the knife and giving me a big cut.... Is this an old account? I vaguely remember reading this many years ago.

From what I heard and read, we didn't miss anything. I couldn't tell you what this guy looks like, what # he wore, or if he throws lefty or righty.
  14. Frayed Knot wrote: Most of Buck's HRs this year would have been out of any park, including Yellowstone. Most definitely. But cavernous dimensions tend to alter a player's approach. Maybe Buck doesn't hit those if he were still a Marlin. Or if Citi Field's dimensions weren't shortened.
  15. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: ... at least Valdespin and Duda have SOME upside. Probably. But Duda has no future with the Mets. Or any other National League team, I'd guess. He's an atrocious train-wreck of a defensive outfielder, and in the long run, is likely to give back everything he accomplishes on offense. Unless he can continue to hit at his current MVP caliber pace all season long. And it's a shame because Duda, an historically slow starter, has demonstrated, at every professional level, that he can absolutely demolish opposing pitchers. I'm not entirely surprised at the season he's having. He's a fun player to watch, easy to root for, and one of the most intriguing Mets to come along in a while. I'm pulling for him, but I have my doubts.
  16. Given his age, Stanton looks like he'll have a run of a few years where he hits HR's in the high 40's, maybe break 50. Almost definitely if he gets away from that stadium where the Marlins play. (See, John Buck) Mets catcher John Buck, teammates enjoying comfy confines of Citi Field By Dave Hutchinson/The Star Ledger on April 22, 2013 at 11:09 PM, updated April 23, 2013 at 6:44 AM excerpt: John Buck has been liberated in the unlikeliest of major league ballparks. The cavernous dimensions of Citi Field, which tortured hitters for three seasons and still do on occasion, have helped rejuvenate Bucks career and in turn jolt the Mets once-dormant offense to life. After spending the past two seasons as a Marlin playing in Sun Life Stadium and Marlins Park, respectively, where his offense was swallowed up in the vast terrain of those parks and frustration set in, Buck has regained the All-Star form he showed with Toronto in 2010. "I think Im the only hitter who probably thinks he came to a more hitter-friendly park in coming to Citi Field," .... "Coming from Miami, that place (Marlins Park) is enormous." http://www.nj.com/mets/index.ssf/2013/04/mets_catcher_john_buck_teammat.html
