  1. Tucker Ashford deserves his own thread.
  2. Swan Swan H wrote: I appreciate the generous scoring. Thanks. We were also looking for "appear", not "represent", thus the Kranepool omission.
  3. Swan Swan H wrote: Todd Hundley is the only #9 to represent the Mets in an All-Star game. That's close enough. You win!! We were looking for "firsts", not "onlys". Hundley was the first Met player/Met manager to appear in an All Star Game wearing uniform #9. Ashburn was the first #1. Bobby V. was the first #2. Ed Kranepool (#7) was selected to the 1965 NL All Star team, but did not appear in that game. No Met player/manager ever appeared in an ASG wearing uniform #6.
  4. G-Fafif wrote: Jesus, that's good. Ever see a Mets trivia quiz where Tucker Ashford was the answer? (Second thread Ashford was referenced in on this forum in as many days).
  5. Who is the only Mets player that can be next (after Segui) in the following sequence: Tucker Ashford completes (or continues) this sequence. Tucker was the 11th Met player to appear in a game wearing uniform #11. Richie Ashburn was the first Met to wear #1. Jimmy Piersall (pictured in #34) was the second Met to be issued uniform #2. Tim Harkness was the third Met to wear #3. Ed Kranepool wore #7 for almost two decades; thus the almost 20 year gap between Lou Klimchock, the sixth Met #6, and Kevin Mitchell, the seventh #7.
  6. Pale Face, Brave Face. Three in a row:
  7. Which Mets player completes the sequence? Why? The answer to this quiz is Ike Davis. These are your Mets Home Run Leaders in Presidential Election Years.
  8. Which Mets player completes the sequence? Why?
  9. Byrd with the improbable homer today after Megdal's critical Byrd piece is posted here. And The Captain with his 2nd HR in as many days after we note a power outage in his game. Someone should alert Ike Davis to the Hot Seat Ike thread. Maybe we should start a Harvey Sucks thread, too.

  14. Who is the next Met in the following sequence?
  15. Harvey Korman sighting right now on AMC. Oh Headley? Headley!
  16. Here's a hint. The next player in the sequence played for the Mets before they won their last World Series.

Why not bat Willie Stargell leadoff? (40 years ago) or why not bat Bobby Bonds leadoff? For the same reason you don't leadoff with Stargell or Wright or Duda (unless you have four or five Duda's or Stargell's on your team). Because then you'd be under-utilizing their slugging ... their highly-efficient ability to move runners along the bases with their bat.

That's kool. http://bobscustomcards.blogspot.com/2012/10/october-9-2012-four-returns.html You got the skills to make your own, you know. Oh, I've been to that site. Love his work. I followed a link there and got lost there for like 30 mins. Still only viewed a tiny fraction of his cards. His site's a pain in the ass 'cause there's no search engine. (Unless I missed it).

I thought that the bad news was that Terry thinks that Byrd can play Center Field...when the rest of baseball isn't even sure that he can adequately cover Right Field... Most reasonable baseball minds will tell you that Byrd is not even a major leaguer, let alone an everyday player.

Because he hits lefties better than Ike Davis (In fact, a whole .032 OPS better over their careers) and better than he hits righties (a whole -.043 better) The good news is that Justin Turner hits lefties better than Ike Davis does. The bad news is that Justin Turner hits lefties better than Ike Davis does.
