  1. If Grandal is signed, what does that mean for also signing Pollock? Do you acquiesce to giving up two draft picks? Or do you stay away from Pollock and sign Gonzalez or Jones instead?

  3. Bumping up since the thread already exists.
  4. Almost on cue. . . https://nypost.com/2018/12/12/the-defensive-force-yankees-and-mets-are-both-in-on/
  5. Unexpected. The only drawback is that he is not lefthanded. Do you think that they could still be in on Miller?
  6. Morton came off the board today (gone to Tampa). Happ is close to coming off the board. Corbin and Eovaldi are gone. Even if the perfect Syndergaard package came along, the window was two or three weeks ago. It's passed. You probably can't get in on the starting pitcher market now this late in the game. On edit: And now Lance Lynn to Texas.
  7. Or just leave Galvis or whoever else out of it. Pollock is entreched in centerfield. Conforto to right. Gonzalez moves back and forth between short and left (just like he did for Houston). McNeil shuffles between third and left. Guillorme is your glove guy on the bench. Pollock and Gonzalez combined probably costs you somewhere between $25-$28 million.
  8. Centerfield wrote: And even if Realmuto is at his best, he's not someone that scares you in the middle of the lineup. Trade packages like the ones the Marlins are asking for are the ones you put together for game changers. Nolan Arenado. Kris Bryant. Even Paul Goldschmidt. Realmuto doesn't hit over .300 (Ok he hit .303 once), doesn't eclipse an OBP of .350, and has hit 20 HR's once (21 as a career high last year). He is a #2 or a #6 complimentary hitter whose defense adds to his WAR. Absolutely a solid addition to a good team that has playoff aspirations. For the right price. And maybe I am rationalizing, but by bet is that BVW probably can make up for the loss of Rosario and Nimmo with two to three FA signings for the lineup/bench and still have a good team with Gimenez a year to year and a half away. But that still does not justify the price going to Miami.
  9. Assuming the unthinkable (that Rosario and Nimmo both go to Miami) and additions of Pollock and Galvis. . . McNeil-lf Pollock-cf Cano-2b Frazier-3b Conforto-rf Realmuto-c Alonso-1b Galvis-ss pitcher I still would need Marwin Gonzalez for depth along with Pollock and Galvis. That would give you a bench consisting of. . . Plawecki (assuming d'Arnaud is traded or cut) Gonzalez Rivera Lagares Smith or Guillorme It could work. You get a lot of versatility with McNeil, Gonzalez, and a hopefully healthy Rivera. Is Pollock, Gonzalez, and Galvis realistic along with at least one more bullpen piece (and hopefully two)? It's a lot of moving parts. BVW needs to hope it all aligns exactly the right way.
  10. I can live with Nimmo or Rosario (preferably Nimmo and absolutely not both) plus Peterson if you can iron clad guarantee to me that they also sign Pollock and Marwin Gonzalez (assuming Harper/Machado are really out of the equation). McNeil and Gonzalez would provide a lot of flexibility. But you really need to cross your fingers and hope Pollock stays healthy.
  11. https://www.sny.tv/mets/news/the-latest-on-mets-trade-talks-for-jt-realmuto-is-a-deal-to-mets-just-a-matter-of-time/301719100 Stay tuned. This could go down tonight. Should I go into hiding if this happens? I liked him, but not at the price of Syndergaard straight up. I always viewed Realmuto as a complimentary player, not a franchise player.
  12. HahnSolo wrote: I would think if it’s Realmuto and Andujar coming to Queens we’d be giving something back to Miami as well. Nimmo would be my guess Adding a piece as significant as Nimmo is not the "no doubt slam dunk" that we were promised as the only way BVW would even consider moving Syndergaard. Nor does it fit with his "I will not create a hole in order to fill one" credo. What if it's Realmuto and Clint Frazier though?
  13. I'm totally confused. Is this Syndergaard to the Yankees, Realmuto to the Mets, and Andujar to the Marlins? Or is it Syndergaard to the Yankees, Realmuto plus Andujar to the Mets, and something else entirely from the Yankees to the Marlins? I am hearing both things simultaneously. The difference between "Realmuto only" compared to "Realmuto and Andujar" is vast.
  14. https://nypost.com/2018/12/10/yankees-mets-have-discussed-three-way-realmuto-blockbuster/ "Any such deal involving Syndergaard would almost certainly have to bring the Mets another starting player in addition to Realmuto." Who could that be? From the Yankees?
  15. The Rays have one too. Although, since they are smaller market, and therefore perhaps freer to be more forward thinking, are being a bit more forthcoming with regard to what they are calling it. https://www.tampabay.com/blogs/rays/2018/12/05/so-what-will-rays-new-process-and-analytics-coach-do/
  16. Centerfield wrote: They described Realmuto as the number one target not only for the Mets, but across baseball. A real franchise changing player. I guess this is ironic because I was the guy pining for him earlier, but I don't see it. I see "solid behind the plate and a good to very good complimentary hitter". I do not see "carry the franchise on his back".
  17. Actual news!! Harold Baines and Lee Smith to Cooperstown.
  18. I'm mildly surprised that John Franco did not get the bullpen gig.
  19. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Jon Heyman wrote: Not sure what the Marlins precise trade request is from Mets for Realmuto. But heard Mets do not want to do Conforto-Nimmo combo, and they don’t want to trade Rosario at all. Jeter is totally overvaluing Realmuto I think. Conforto and Nimmo?

  22. The Yankees and Phillies speculative moves in that link are huge!
  23. I'm hoping that, at the very least, Andrew Miller to the Mets happens relatively quick.
  24. If he comes he is the everyday rightfielder and cleanup hitter. That's how I see it at least. Here is the interesting part. . . You move his $9.2 million in and then move Frazier's $9 million out in some other deal. By doing these two things simultaneously, you create a spot for McNeil and have more money to play with for the bullpen (assuming you don't sign a catcher or, more likely, sign Maldonado for a $5 million-ish AAV and then DFA d'Arnaud). How does Miller, Adam Warren, and one out of Robertson/Ottavino/Soria/Herrera/Kelly sound to go along with Diaz, Gsellman, and Lugo?
  25. Here is a little more info on why the Dodgers might be wanting to move him. A motivated Puig for one year wanting to prove something could be dangerous. https://mlb.nbcsports.com/2018/12/07/disgruntled-yasuel-puig-could-be-traded-this-offseason/
