  1. Girardi is a cut above. Perez/Bell/Shelton/Bogar are all completely acceptable. Beltran is completely unacceptable.
  2. Let's do this again with the updated list of likely candidates.
  3. I want Edgardo. Mets pedigree, can communicate with Latino ballplayers, been managing in the minors, friendly, personable. Even coming off a championship in 2019. What the hell else do you want? Good call. Why is he not being mentioned after actually doing the job in the unglamorous minor leagues while Carlos Beltran jumps to the front of the line after being comfortable in the major league luxury boxes while serving as a "special advisor"?
  4. Lefty Specialist wrote: Espada. 4) He has no Yankee history. You mean other than his stint as Brian Cashman's Special Assistant and the major league team's infield/third base coach?
  5. I like this better than the "Joes only" poll. Including what I think to be are realistic options but leaving out Maddon since he seems destined for Anaheim.
  6. Edgy MD wrote: Somebody announced an intention to start Loogie? It just makes more sense. You can't have the key piece out of your bullpen needing to miss two games after pitching one. Plus, he has already had success as a starter.
  7. You need to swap Lugo and Mazza now.
  8. Edgy MD wrote: I'm not sure stones is what it takes. No, "stones" is the approptiate verbage. You can disagree with it, and you can present you rationale as to why, but there is not much denying that batting the picher that high would buck conventional wisdom.
  9. Against righthanded pitching, bat the pitcher as high as 7th in the order. Nimmo-cf Lowrie-3b Cano-2b Ramos-c Conforto-cf Frazier-1b pitcher Rosario-ss McNeil-lf The advantage would be for additional "table setters" in Rosario and McNeil at the bottom of the order, rolling things over back to the top. Your "hard stop" to the order in the form of the pitcher comes not after the table setters, but rather after the high risk/reward "power+high strikeout" guy in Frazier. Friazier's power potential still protects the batters ahead of him.
  10. Now that they have the veteran loogy in the fold, the only thing that might be left is another long man for bullpen/spot starter depth. Why not Warren?
  11. Original thread. . . http://www.thecranepool.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=27628&p=751051&hilit=justin+wilson#p751051http://www.thecranepool.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=27628&p=751051&hilit=justin+wilson#p751051
  12. That's "Mr. Koo" to you.
  13. He's also not mentioning that some agents -- including the one for the biggest stars out there this year -- tend to hold back. I don't know about Machado, but Harper had a 10-year, $300 million offer on the table. This. And, also, the "it's not your money" quip when referring to the fans is flat out economic stupidity. Who is paying the ever increasing prices for tickets/parking/concessions? Who is buying the jerseys, caps, and other asorted types of apparel and knick-knaks? Who is paying the subsciption fees for cable and streaming services for games? All of that, Evan, is called revenue. It's what the owners rely on to finance the payroll that goes to you guys.
  14. Edgy MD wrote: Official as of 20 minutes ago. News conference tomorrow. I see nothing on the internets or the FaceTwitts. It's not official to me until I see the "Welcome to the Mets" graphic posted somewhere.

  16. When is this thing going to be official?
  17. Opening Day 2019? Nimmo-rf Lowrie-3b Cano-2b Ramos-c Conforto-lf Frazier-1b Broxton-cf deGrom-p Rosario-ss
  18. =Centerfield post_id=973 time=1547164851 user_id=65] We now have six infielders that can potentially start (Cano, McNeil, Frazier, Lowrie, Rosario and Alonso). We have a 7th guy in JD Davis that could potentially be pretty good. We have two starting quality outfielders, and two shitty ones, and no one behind them.
  19. Don't hate it but I don't quite understand it.
  20. Why does the well run team have no fans, while the team with a rabid fanbase have The Three Stooges in charge?
  21. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: the ybor city plan they floated a few months back apparently won't happen. Link?
  22. If they moved to North Carolina and became the "Charlotte Rays", they would have the perfect 7th Inning Stretch sing along song ready made for them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGS56qJ0xIwhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGS56qJ0xIw
  23. The location of the park apparently has something to do with it. They say that it is hard to get to St. Pete from a lot of areas where they want to draw fans. Ybor City, they have determined, would be a lot better for them.
  24. They are buying four years of team control for a guy who did hit 20 HR's in a season. Do you think that they are gambling on him improving to perhaps a more respectable approach at the plate to go with the raw power? As it stands, I do not think that the aquisition preculdes them from going after Pollock if the market for him comes back to the Mets. I don't see a reason for Pollock, Lagares, and Broxton to be on the same team though. My guess is that they DFA Lagares and eat the $9 million if they can find a way to get Pollock and don;t find a deal for Lagares.
  25. How hard do you think he pushed Boras to get him to LA?
