  1. I definitely have some weird psychosis. Just based on my gut, I believe Nimmo, Alonso, McNeil, Senga and Diaz will have bounce back seasons. I think Alvarez and Baty will break out. I think Mauricio will get back healthy and be a big factor for us sometime this year. I also think Manaea and Peterson will duplicate what they did last year. And Holmes will be good as a starter. At the same time I think the Mets will win 77 games, because, they're the Mets. But I'm trying not to think that way anymore. So. My predictions. 1. What will the Mets' record be? 91-71 2. Predict the NL East standings from 1 to 5: ATL - NYM - PHI - WAS - MIA 3. Will the Mets make the playoffs (if so, as the division champ or 1st, 2nd, or 3rd WC)? Yes. First WC 4. If so, how far will they go? NLDS 5. Who will be the World Champion? Texas Rangers 6. Number of regular season HRs for Pete Alonso: 44 7. Who will be on the cover of the 2025 winner of the Tabloid Cover Derby? Jose Siri
  2. Musicals. Cat vs phantom vs French revolutionary vs chorus line Maybe work in a rockette somehow.
  3. I think the idea is fun. I think the costumes are a miss. In the other parks, it’s all sausages or all Presidents. Here the mascots are too much of a jumble. There are so many things we could have done. Buildings. ESB vs Chrysler vs Freedom Tower vs Statue of Liberty. Mayors. Rudy. Bloomberg. Koch. La Guardia. Foods. Pizza. Bagel. Apple. Knish. Taco. We could even use offensive stereotypes for this one.

Score the first play of the first game: K 20. First rainout date April 11 21. First Mendoza Ejection None
  5. Ronny Mauricio. The Mets starting DH for the post-season. Our starting 3B next year, pushing Vientos to 1B.
  6. Hagenman has looked good this spring. 2.25 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP. Canning has been even better. 0.90 ERA with a 0.80 WHIP. It's not too late for someone to jump on the Max Kranick bandwagon. 9.1 IP, 0.96 WHIP, 1.93 ERA. Paul Blackburn on the other hand... Of course, it's just spring training. And spring training stats mean nothing.
  7. Counterpoint. He did adapt in the second half of 2024 with good results. Whether that's sustainable will be the big question.
  8. Jeff Greggories Frank Johnco Val Bobbentine Payton Jay Kent Jeff John Davison Will Mookson Gil Bernardkey

  11. =ashie62 post_id=186995 time=1741701901 user_id=90] You're making that up Seriously, you really believe that? OK
  12. He had an .884 OPS over his first 1024 PAs. That’s not an illusion. He’s been had 3 out of the last 4 years, but it doesn’t take away from what he did previously. He’s only 32. It’s possible he has something left in the tank. One thing I was thinking is that he may have been one of those guys that benefited from the juiced ball. He has borderline power. Maybe those doubles and HRs turned into outs. I have nothing to base this on, but I’ll guess he’s got one more great year in him. And this is the year.
  13. Awful. Starting pitchers are losing half a season to injuries that didn’t exist a generation ago. Pitching is so fragile.
  14. Big news from Yankee camp as a fly ball was hit to LF and Jasson Dominguez caught it.
  15. Edgy MD wrote: =Centerfield post_id=186304 time=1740837287 user_id=65]How is there any fucking debate about Pete Rose. His voters have a stake in Pete Rose and his reputation. Two generations of white guys pointed at him as a model for their sons. He's the worst president imaginable, but he's as talented a political animal as we have ever seen, and he never stops running. Besides, in his book, not paying taxes is a virtue, not a crime.
  16. Pete Rose raped 14 year old girls. He admitted to it. His only defense was that he thought they were 16. How is there any fucking debate about Pete Rose.
  17. Carlos Beltran showed the world that you can play great defense without making highlight reel diving catches. And that taking the right route to the ball is a lot better than taking a roundabout route then diving at the end.
  18. I love the difference in these two predictions.
  19. I wonder how healthy the guy was last year. Plantar Fasciitis started in May. He fainted in June. Maybe he had a concussion? And I read recently he dealt with some nerve thing on his thumb. Hopefully his OBP returns to Nimmo levels. His second half was atrocious.
  20. Some trends. *A lot of us lost touch with the Mets when we went away to college, or moved away from NYC. A lot of us didn't have cable during that time. I wonder if kids these days will have gaps like that. Most follow on the internet. And the internet is everywhere. *We lose touch with the Mets when we're chasing girls. Then we settle down. Get married. Then come back to the Mets.
  21. =Methead post_id=185920 time=1740433747 user_id=61] I was fortunate enough to be in college from 91 to 96 so I was paying less attention to whatever happened in those years
  22. Was this his first chance at SS? So one of the questions they had was whether Madrigal could play a passable SS. Early returns suggest no.
  23. The 2024 Mets were incredibly lucky in terms of injuries. The 2025 Mets may not be so charmed.
  24. Alvarez is set up a lot more closed than he was last year. I think that's a good approach.
  25. We're about to start spring training games. But before we do. Read through this thread again.
