  1. Mets offense has been shit for a while now. And the bullpen is completely different after the injuries. I've given Soto a pass but he looked like shit all week.
  2. These walks. Nauseating.
  3. Ryne Stanek again.
  4. Missed this game today. Was thrilled to see Griffin kept on Canning. I keep thinking Tylor Megill is gonna find it and here's Canning putting up good start after good start.
  5. Awful. See you guys tomorrow.
  6. I always assume the Citi/Shea crowd will make the wrong decision. They booed Piazza, Lindor, Beltran. All of this while they played for the Mets. Just stupid behavior. All while taking pride in it. And thinking this makes them edgy or tough or some other bullshit. You're just being an ass. Same guys who boo Diaz when literally every other guy who's pitched the 9th inning this year has failed to record the save.
  7. Rape. Fucking rape. 14 year old girls. That's the line in the sand. What the fuck is wrong with everyone. If Rose never gambled on baseball, he would've been a first ballot inductee. The "rape" or "pedophilia" would've then occurred while Rose was already in the Hall. Then what? Then nothing. The crime was discovered after the induction. It sucks that there's a rapist in the HOF, but you can't really undo something that was already been done. That's a completely different story than honoring a guy after you're aware of the crime. Kevin Spacey has an Academy Award. You can't take away the award, even though we found out later he's a pedophile. But you don't learn that he preyed on minor boys, then advocate that he should be further honored. And I don't understand "rape" and "pedophilia" being in quotes. Having sex with 14 year old girls is rape. In fact, statutory rape. And if your only defense is "I thought she was 16", then that's about as clear cut as it gets.

  9. Edgy MD wrote: For what it is worth, Alonso is not particularly analogous to Soto. Soto spent one year with the Yankees, and really, he probably gave them the best year of his career. The closest comparison is Mike Hampton: trade for one year of a star, performs well, performs well in playoffs for a team that makes the World Series, leaves afterwards. Soto of course did not feed some bullshit line about why he chose his new team… This is right. And if I recall, Mets fans booed the shit out of Mike Hampton.

  11. Pete Rose is a pedophile. Preyed on 14 year old girls. Admitted to it in deposition testimony. "I thought she was 16". Gambling was the least of his sins. It's crazy that fucking lunatics in this country call everyone they don't like a pedophile. Then they celebrate actual fucking pedophiles. I really can't make sense of this world anymore. Every time I see Pete Rose's name I feel like I'm living in a simulation. How do decent people not all despise this monster.
  12. And of course now we give up two insurance runs. This team just can't get on any sort of run.
  13. Fuck. That was our chance.
  14. Mets win! Phillies lose! Braves lose!
  15. I don't understand sitting Vientos 2 games in a row. I get that he's started slow, but he's got an .800 OPS over the last 28 days (per BBREF). I doubt Brett Baty has ever had such a stretch in MLB.
  16. Brandon Nimmo since his 2 HR day in Washington. BA: .185 OBP: .313 SLG: .370 OPS: .683 In other words, more of the same.
  17. =metirish post_id=192046 time=1746744898 user_id=72] Tom loved talking pitching and loved talking about how great he was even more
  18. Guys, I might be completely making this up. But I feel like I once read a quote that was attributed to Tom Seaver. The gist of it was when the inning is over, all the other fielders run back to the dugout, but the pitcher walks. Takes his time. Because he's the pitcher and he's awesome. Or something like that. Has anyone ever heard of this?
  19. Cubs are first in steals with 48. The Mets have 24 for the season, good for 24th place. The Cubs also hit. Third in MLB in OPS (.780), and third in HR (55). The Mets are 7th in OPS and 11th in HR (42). On the pitching side, the Mets hold the advantage. Their team ERA of 2.89 is tops in all of MLB. Cubs are 16th. Mets are only 12th in WHIP. So maybe some of that ERA is a little bit lucky. Cubs will be throwing Jameson Taillon on Friday and Matthew Boyd on Sunday. TBD for Saturday.
  20. I'm not very good at tables. So I'm probably the wrong guy to start this thread. So I'll just focus on the interesting stuff. We're almost at the 25% mark of the season already. Mets start the day 24-14. Two game lead (1 in the loss column) over the Phillies (21-15). The Braves started out 0-7 but have gone 17-12 since (17-19 overall). You figure once they get healthier, they'll put themselves in the mix. In the NL, there are at least 6 contenders (NYM, PHI, CHC, LAD, SDP, SFG). 7 if you count the Braves, and 8 if you think Arizona will eventually make a run. I guess it's possible that a team like the Reds get hot too. Barring a surprise NL Central team making a run, you figure the Cubs take the division. That leaves 2 NL East Teams, and 2 or 3 NL West Teams fighting for 3 WC spots. The surprise team so far are the Giants, but at 24-14 and a +39 run differential, they definitely look for real. The White Sox are playing .270 ball, which is blistering hot for them. The Rockies are this year's version of the White Sox. 6-29, good for a .171 win percentage.
  21. The Mets have been playing some shit baseball for the past ten days or so.
  22. One fucking hit. That's all we have?
  23. He was in fact, good.
  24. Please be good Edwin.
  25. Interesting strategy to get the DBacks to burn their closer in a loss.
