  1. I haven't started one yet. But that does mean I'm undefeated.
  2. I just don't want to be typing NO HITTER in the IGT later tonight.
  3. Thanks JD.
  4. Sorry, I should have been more specific. Can you tell me about the pop fly he supposedly missed? Is it a ball that should have been caught? Was it hit to the middle of the field? Sideline? Thanks. On Edit: And with respect to the pickoff, safe or not, isn't the golden rule you don't make the 3rd out trying to get to 3rd base? (And you certainly don't make the third out going back to second base after realizing it was foolish to attempt to get to 3rd in the first place.)
  5. 75. Benny Agbayani's Walk-Off Home Run In Game Three Of The Nlds Pushes Giants To Brink: Cohen, 2000 One of the great moments that seemingly has been forgotten amongst Mets fans.
  6. Who hit the ball? Where was it hit? Can you tell us a little more?
  7. By the way, none of the papers mention anything about a pop fly that Jeter failed to catch.
  8. Didn't he also get picked off of second?

I felt that his baserunning blunder (getting picked off trying to stretch a double into a triple) outweighed his 9th inning single. I didn't like how the announcers were implying that Reyes was "off the hook" after Delgado hit the HR. No, if Reyes had run that out, the Mets would have had the lead.
  10. Zambrano 4 Delgado 2 Sanchez 1 Wagner 1 Feliciano 1 Franco 1
  11. Yancy Street Gang wrote: The thing most likely to undermine this season is the dropoff in the rotation after Trachsel. While this is true, I'm not even that confident in Trachsel. He has posted a winning record only once during his years here in NY. And though he has a decent ERA, he doesn't exactly inspire confidence taking the ball in Game 3 of a post-season series.
  12. Those two also take the ball next weekend against the Braves. (fingers remain crossed)
  13. Yeah, that probably would have made more sense.
  14. I think he uses the line in order to seem consistent. Team was winning with Hernandez, hence no Matsui. Team winning with Matsui, hence no Hernandez. It is probably easier than admitting "I was wrong, Matsui is better."
  15. I'm with Yancy. That's how I vote.
  16. Tomahawk chop stolen from fans of Florida State.
  17. Chipper & Renteria expected back in the lineup.
  18. One of the few times I agree with Willie: We like to please our fans, but we can't get caught up in that. Fans see it from a different perspective. You can't react to that. As a fan, all the years the way the rivalry has gone, yeah, they would love to get some payback. And we would, too. But we keep it more in perspective than the fans do, and the media It's basic to me. It's like they don't understand the long haul. They don't understand that we want to win as badly as they do, but it's not that easy sometimes. You have to play the game. You can't get too high in a situation where you have to play those guys again later on, because if you don't do well, how are you going to deal with it later on?
  19. I know we had a thread about him retiring, but this latest development is news to me. Check out the photo*...already added to our photo thread. http://mdn.mainichi-msn.co.jp/waiwai/face/news/20060428p2g00m0dm009000c.html *Not a nude photo, sorry if that was misleading
  20. Did we trade Isringhausen for Billy Taylor? That one wasn't so good.
  21. Nady takes some weird routes on balls.
  22. I can think of plenty who had that reputation (Darryl Strawberry) but whether his anti-clutchness was a reality or not I have no idea. I think, as Vic says, "clutch" for the most part, lives only in perception. I have never seen anyone establish "clutch" on any statistically significant basis. Most of the time, it's like Derek Jeter being "clutch" during the post-season despite his batting average dipping from his career norm.
  23. Not for nothing, but to Roger Clemens' situation was completely different than Delmon Young's. Delmon threw a bat, complete and whole, at an umpire and that clearly warrants punishment. Clemens threw jagged bat shards at an opposing player and that was ok because he thought it was the ball and everyone knows in baseball you're supposed to throw the ball at baserunners. I hope that clears up the confusion.
  24. mlb, is that you in your avatar? For some reason I had you pegged as older.
