Clemens being buddies with Trump is the least surprising thing in the world.
Every once in a while you see someone cozying up with him and you get disappointed. But most of the time it’s like yeah. That tracks.
Some interesting stuff about Jeff Albert. He was the head of minor league hitting during the time Alvarez, Baty and Vientos were developing. Maybe there was some thought he would get the best of them. No luck.
there are lots of different opinions of his work during his time with the Cardinals. Not surprising I guess. Hitting coaches are hard to quantify.
It would be a mistake to count on Polanco for any starting role. This team was 23rd in OPS. They need significant improvement.
If Bichette opts in, they are locked in at 6 positions. That only leaves 3 spots to improve the lineup. And they’ll likely leave one of those spots for a kid to step up.
And one of the bench slots has to go to Jorge Polanco. As bad as 2026 was, you can’t just cut him out of the gate. Theres simply no room for Marcus Semien.
I think Marcus Semien needs to be cut. Not immediately. But there’s no way he should be on the Opening Day Roster.
Assuming Baty, Mauricio, and Jared Young create a roster crunch, you can’t justify keeping Semien.
Just saw the highlights of this one.
I wonder if there is spirited debate among Padres fans that Mason Miller puts up good numbers but can’t get the job done in big spots.
It’s funny how people are taking to Murakami. Sure. Ohtani is a generational talent. And he says all the right things and is the type of player you can teach your kids to emulate. But he’s very buttoned down. Kinda like Jeter in how presentable he always is. Tall. Fit. Multiple MVPs.
And then there’s Murakami. He’s a little chubby. Runs funny. Hits nukes. Strikes out way too much. Yells “I am Japanese!!!” Drinks too much and talks about being hungover. Everyone seems to love him.
