  1. The cool thing is that this thread is more than a month old, and we are even more exuberant than when it started. Hopefully we'll be saying the same thing a month from now. (and maybe even one more after that)
  2. The success of a relief pitcher can be pretty random. Fans perception of that relief pitcher, even more so. Jesse and Armando were both pretty terrific relievers. They were responsible for 2 of the best years ever by a Met reliever. But one is adored, one is reviled. One is clutch, one is a choker. How different would it have been, if the Mets had scored only 1 run in the top of 16th of NLCS game 6, rather than 3. It is rare that a relief pitcher can give up 3 runs to the home team in an extra inning game and still be the winning pitcher.
  3. Mets=Better than the Braves
  4. I don't know how you people went to sleep. I'm still wired. I wish they were playing this game right now.
  5. Just a few thoughts to round out the night. HOLY FUCKING CRAP WHAT A GREAT WIN. Can't remember the last time I saw something like this. #LOLNATS Was at the gym for most of the comeback. My GameCast told me Addison Reed was batting. I was cursing Terry and was just about to turn off my phone when it flashed 8-7. Looked at the description and saw it was Kirk. Omir Santos must be pissed. He no longer has the biggest hit against Papelbon. Can't believe Williams bunted Rendon on 3-1. LOLOLOL. I think this is a great strategy. Matt, bunt Rendon 4 times tomorrow. That douchebag Harvey better figure out things out fast. If you're gonna be a douchebag you better be good to back it up. Can't wait for tomorrow's game. We need that no mercy Cobra Kai sensei.
  6. Biggest game of his life. Yes, it is the biggest game of his life. And thanks to him and his agent, he'll be taking the mound surrounded by a big stinky fart cloud. I never liked the Batman stuff for Harvey, but now it seems even more stupid than ever. I think this character is more appropriate: Or Two-Face.
  7. Maxi Climber can turn you into a douchebag for only 19.95. Call today!
  8. Reply on RIGHT NOW. Mets done 5-3. Let's see if they can come back again.
  9. This is late, but I just wanted to chime in here and give a big old FUCK YOU to the Braves. HOLY CRAP YOU FUCKING SUCK ATLANTA.
  10. Like I mentioned last week. 8-5 is a glorious score. Happy it held up. I imagine the Nats are hating 8-5 right about now. What a pleasant score to turn on after a 3 hour plane ride.
  11. Gwreck wrote: Rubin on why Dillon Gee didn't get a call-up: Perhaps more notable was who did not get summoned. Right-hander Dillon Gee, who went 8-3 with a 4.58 ERA in 14 starts with Las Vegas after clearing waivers and getting demoted, was not invited to return. Gee had some harsh words behind the scenes for Mets execs about his treatment after getting banished to the minors, which probably cost him. He has the right to declare free agency shortly after the World Series, well before he would be non-tendered by the Mets on Dec. 2 anyway. I am having a tough time seeing why Gee would not be considered as a replacement for a Niese start, or as extra bullpen help, particularly if Carlos Torres is hurt. Gee had a 1.67 ERA in his final 4 starts with Las Vegas. Agreed. It is dumb not to have Gee on this team right now.

Or he's a fucking idiot with this lineup. I guess we'll see. Yeah...I'm unfortunately leaning a bit towards the latter. I have no problem with giving people days off and using subs in the lineup; but I don't think it's a great idea to be doing that with two lineup spots in the same game. I know we won but this point should not be lost. If Collins cannot understand that guys like Campbell and Young are spare parts I'd favor taking them away unless he demonstrates he understands their role.
  13. I have to think our NHOP will rise today. Braves can't beat anyone.
  14. Just heard that Harper left the game because his ass hurt.

He could be a spot starter, a long reliever, a seventh inning guy. So basically his contract runs out then he is a free agent right? not on the 40 man. He's eligible though, for being in the organization. Wait, so they could add him and he would be eligible for the post-season?

  17. Nats were up 4-0 in this game.

Edgy MD wrote: I'm trying to stay open to the idea that Terry is savvy in ways I can't comprehend that a lifetime of wisdom and a keen eye for practical application of comprehensive data feeds into choices like batting Cespedes second and Kelly Johnson fifth but the decision to go to Parnell and O'Flaherty first out of the pen has me flummoxed. The former is returning from the disabled list in relation to a dubious injury following a bout of self-destruction. The latter has been lost as well, and if he's ever going to be found, it's best to try and get him into lefty-on-lefty match-ups. That the team should hit their way back out a hole only to put the game in these hands puzzles me, as it seems neither beneficial for the team nor the pitchers. Terry openly stated before the game that he wanted to work Gilmartin and Reed in tonight and, well, there was his chance. Nice little lead your team has built up, Terry, but it's too early to coast, if that indeed is what's going on. I thought I knew his game. But 2015 Terry has been an enigma. Yup. The team put up a 4 spot. Get your best guy out there and get back in the dugout. This was a very winnable game. I can see the logic in wanting to get Parnell in a high leverage situation, but start him in a low leverage situation first. And as RD said in another thread, the only good time to pitch O'Flaherty is about 5:15 p.m.
  19. 8-5 is your final. 8-5 was your final last night. Both soul-crushing types of losses. Remind me, what was the final score of game 7 in 1986?
  20. High 5 metfairy! For staying up with me!
  21. BRANDON MOSS HR. NATS FUCKING LOSE.
  22. 2 outs. Winning run on 2nd. Someone named Pham up.
  23. Jhonny Peralta up. The hope is that he can hit well enough to be a poor man's Wilmer Flores.
  24. Double play, but the Cards tie it. Go ahead run on 3rd, 2 outs.
  25. Bottom 8, first 2 on for St. Louis. Down 5-3 trying to rally.
