But if I'm being told to go to the doctor to run tests, I might keep a brave face, but deep down inside I'm convinced I have cancer and I'm going to die. And if I'm going through that I'd be pretty pissed if my manager is on the air comparing that shit to a toothache.
  3. Even Sandy joking about the toothache thing was a little inappropriate in my opinion. I mean, if Sandy wanted shut up the reporters, all he had to say was: "Matt Harvey is dealing with a non-baseball medical issue. A man is entitled to his privacy. When he's ready to say more he will." I doubt anyone would push Sandy knowing what he just went through.
  4. I'm glad to hear it's nothing serious and that he will be ok. Wish him a speedy recovery. Kind of disappointed how this whole thing played out. Harvey has a mystery ailment, Mets Twitter says some dumb things, Harvey now acting petulant about what was said. It all just leaves a bad taste. I get that Harvey is a douchebag and shouldn't talk about 3 ways on TV. So yes, part of this is that he brings it on himself. I wish he was less douchy. But the twitter users should be more respectful. At the end of the day, Matt Harvey is a human being, and anyone who has to go to the doctor to get tests run is dealing with something. You can't help but think of the worst case scenario. It's a scary time for anyone. I get that he's a public figure, but this is his health. And not like rotator cuff health, like actual health. Just...I don't know. Don't be a dick. And then there's Harvey reading about it and commenting. What the fuck did you think you would read? Just ignore it. Don't read it. And if you read it, don't whine about it. Just for once, can you act like you are above the petty shit? You want to emulate Jeter? Emulate the part where he pretends to not care. Jeter may have been a sensitive bitch, but he sure was great at acting like he wasn't.
  5. Isn't Dilson like 5'5"? How short is team Colombia?
  6. Seriously. Welcome to 2014 Ty.
  7. What I want to know is if Teufel gets 11 back now.
  8. Asdrubal Cabrera. Projected to start Opening Day: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/115427/terry-collins-projects-asdrubal-cabrera-ready-for-opening-day

Either way, the White Sox are right that he shouldn't be in the clubhouse all the time, and if LaRoche doesn't like that rule, then he's perfectly within his rights to look elsewhere for employment. I wish him the best. Yup. And another thing, what 14 year old wants to hang out with his dad every day, no matter how cool the dad might be?
  10. "No, I'm not the bad guy. I only choke other grown men. He's the one you should be yelling at. He chokes his girlfriend."

John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: This is an example of the typical modern American argument: Two diametrically opposed morons, blind to any nuance, and presented to an audience as though they have to choose with one side or the other. There is nothing wrong with having fun, and nothing wrong with sportsmanship. I think JCL says it best. Celebrate if you're happy. Don't celebrate to be a douche. Gotta say Bryce Harper says a lot of the right things. The tip of the hat to the Mets and all. When I read about him, he seems a decent guy. When I see him, all i think is DOUCHE!!!
  12. Didn't like the signing at all at the time. I felt like those resources could have been put to better use. I still think that. But despite the injury to start the year, goes out and hits 25 HR's! Plays good enough defense to get by. Makes me eat my words!
  13. Every year Bartolo Colon has started opening day, the Mets have gone to the World Series.
  14. themetfairy wrote: Oh, and the same advertiser has another commercial where this annoying hipster family takes a NYC bus to go kayaking, taking up everyone's time to secure their kayaks on the bus and taking up tons of room in the bus with their equipment. We're supposed to admire them for finding nature, but I hate these selfish assholes who should have sprung for a cab rather than unreasonably inconveniencing all of the other passengers on the bus. Right? It's like they hired Ayn Rand to head up their advertising.
  15. What that does is make the double play harder, and thus making it more unusual. Which is probably what it should be. The idea that you can get 2 outs on one play you would think should be more than exception and not "routine". Back to Utley, let's hire Lawrence Taylor to come out of retirement and be a pinch runner for the Dodgers series. Then let's give him a crack at Utley and take whatever suspensions may arise.
  16. When this story is exposed, you all are going to be sorry you doubted Jenrry. INVESTIGATION REVEALS FAR-REACHING CONSPIRACY TO BAN METS' RELIEVER OFFICIALS ADMIT MOTIVE WAS "JUST TO BE A DICK"
  17. Not for nothing guys, but this is a real crap IGT. Even for spring. Some of you need to stop riding sports cars and horses and all that shit and start getting focused.
  18. Overheard in Port St. Lucie: Wow d'Arnaud really struggled with his throwing last year. We gotta get that kid working with Piazza.
  19. Kinda sucks if you're Baltimore. Swing and miss on Cespedes, you have to outbid yourself like 3 times to bring back Davis, and Dexter Fowler spurns you. I think they should let Brother Mouzone handle some negotiations.
  20. I never would have guessed it. All those years I wished for the Mets to bring a complete team into a season, I figured I'd be ecstatic looking forward to the year. If they had brought in pitchers in 2007. Or hitters in 2008. Or if they had been able to re-sign Olerud in 2000. I mean, I'm definitely happy. Thrilled even. And nervous, because of course, they haven't won anything yet. And there's always a risk of injury. And it's not crazy to think that Cespedes, and Granderson, and Familia could all fall back to the pack a bit. But I'm still very optimistic. But it's also kind of boring. I mean, you can only milk the car thing for so long.
  21. Maybe it's a pitcher thing? Ricky Vaughn doesn't drive himself either.
  22. I would suggest another rule: A player who never touches second base should never be ruled safe despite anything else that may or may not take place. And if you miss second base, not because you were trying to avoid a tag, but because you ran right by it as if you did not understand that reaching the base was the point of the game, you should join Jenrry Mejia in Taiwan.
  23. It should be called the Utley Rule because I want Chase Utley's lasting legacy to be that he was a dirty, reckless dickhead. I wonder if they will allow replay to review whether the umps can determine whether a player who has left the field and is sitting in his dugout has run out of the basepath.
  24. Yes, but if you are going to rule that total dick (and the runner) to be out, I'm all for it.
  25. I'm in red. LWFS is in black. That's seawolf in the green jumpsuit. Yes. We are hamsters. 1. You are driving an: Kia Soul 2. You are wearing: Refer to image 3. And of course, the shoes are: Refer to image 4. As you get closer, reporters can hear: This or that - Black Sheep 5. Pulling in, they look in your passenger seat and see: LWFS making gang signs 6. You turn off your engine, get out, and say: Nothing. Put my hood on and walk right past.
