  1. Pitcher trying to pitch with an injury hurts something else? What a shock. Shut him down. Noah too. Limit deGroms innings. Let's see what the kids can do and start planning for next year.

I don't care who is hurt or who has a bun coming out of the oven or whatever silly excuse anyone can come up with. If ya can't beat a team that was like twenty five games below .500 with the squad you have, bring up some more guys from AAA or AA that will fight for playing time and at least get some work in at the major league level. *spits* National League Champs my Cal-Ripkin-eaten asshole, they should take the pennant down and be ashamed of how they've followed up such a remarkable season. *spits again* Yup.
  3. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: not that it matters but Josh Edgin was every bit as awful as anyone they used last night. Fat and lazy as well, didn't bother hustling to home plate to retrieve his own wild pitch. Pathetic effort last night I feel like Stupid and Lazy should be the motto for this year.
  4. Right? I mean sometimes it's inevitable, but some of those HBP's are a result of failing to act in time. Or being indifferent to the pitch coming at you altogether.
  5. TJ Rivera fun fact: His career OBP (.348) is LOWER than his career BA (.364)! (I always thought it was stupid that reaching on an error counts against you in terms of OBP. Fact of the matter is you reached base, and although the fielder screwed up, maybe you were hustling your ass down the line and damn well earned that base.)
  6. You know, they're really just at 3-4 game win streak away from putting themselves in contention. They have a chance to directly take down the two teams in the lead (SF and St.L) and that could really make things interesting. Cespedes will be back, the Walker baby will be here, if Bruce gets hot and Rivera keeps hitting... I think there's no way around it. It's time to send Ben Grimm to Peru.
  7. Really appreciate the feedback guys. Will definitely try to hit the Ommegang if I can convince my folks to go. We are staying at the Holiday Inn Express! Seawolf-CF SimScore rockets again!
  8. So I know this is kind of crazy, but if you squint, doesn't TJ Rivera kinda resemble ARod at the plate? Obviously not results, but his stance, his demeanor, etc. No? Obviously this is Mini-Manny again.
  9. I see the value in not throwing Ynoa out for his first MLB start in Arizona, but man. Would have loved to see the kid get a chance.
  10. Taking the kids this weekend to the Hall of Fame for Ryan's birthday. So far the plan is to drive up Friday. Visit the HOF Saturday. Golf with my parents Sunday and then drive home. Any recommendations or advice? I know just about nothing. Any food recs, useful tips, etc would be appreciated!
  11. And that's the thing. Win-loss record aside, they are playing like shit. They have played like shit since April. And I think that this has to reflect upon the manager. Just inexcusable. I guess it's no coincidence that this terrible stretch coincides with Cespedes going down. I remember wondering earlier this year how bad this team would be without him. I guess we have our answer. Just awful. Imagine if we were playing somebody good.
  12. Edgy MD wrote: Well, they should have run Ray by the third inning. He was wild in the strike zone, and he was wild outside of the zone. I tuned out after Jay Bruce let Granderson play Goldschmidt's gapper, turning it from an apparent double into a gimme triple. It drove me nuts when George Foster did that to Mookie Wilson 30 years ago, and it drives me nuts now. Don't give up these easy edges. Just maddening. He was three feet from the ball.

  14. Um. Take a strike?
  15. Conforto out. Sophomore jinx continues.
  16. Well. He's in scoring position. The other team bats now right?
  17. The fuck Terry. Stop fucking bunting.
  18. And then there are those freaks whose names spelled out are letters. Like Jay.
  19. I'm not scapegoating Terry for the team's struggles this year. And I'm not saying injuries have not been a factor. Certainly this hampers a team's success no matter who is at the helm. I'm saying Terry should be fired because he's a bad manager. I said as much before this season, and the mistakes he's made this year have only bolstered my existing feeling. The reason I'm saying to do it now is that I feel firing Terry is inevitable (certainly I don't want to extend him). And sometimes firing a manager can shake up and wake up a team. This team has been hit by injuries, yes, but there is enough talent out there to capture a wild card. And they are not playing up to that talent.
  20. Sure. You go clearly interim route here and find the right guy this winter.
  21. That one too. But I don't think it was as obvious a call as the neighborhood play not being in effect. The rule states: The Umpire's judgment that a runner is clearly out on a force play at second base under circumstances in which the defensive player may or may not have touched second base in his attempt to complete a double play and avoid a collision with the runner. All other elements of the call shall be subject to review, including whether the fielder caught the ball, had control of the ball, was drawn off the bag, or tagged the runner. In this regard, a determination as to whether the fielder made a catch before dropping the ball while in the act of making a throw following the catch shall be reviewable. Murphy's throw beat Utley by a half hour. If there were two outs in the inning, Tejada had time to build a teepee on second base. The only reason he is whirling around is so he can turn the double play. And he knew he didn't have to be exact because the neighborhood play is in effect. It was just an incredibly stupid judgment by the umpire, and it is one that should have had Terry going bananas, calling in the other umpires, and just generally dumping feces all over the field. I mean, it annoys me that Don Mattingly comes out and pleads for reviews even when he's out of reviews. But given the choice I'd much rather my manager do this than to just sit on a valid review and hit the showers. Just inexcusable. And I'm not saying that going to Robles last night was a mistake. Shit like that happens. But I'm done with Terry Collins. And since I think the Mets have no visions of extending him, I think the time to make the move is now.
  22. I know that there have been some rumblings about not being happy with Terry. For me, the failure to challenge that Jay Bruce play at the plate should solidifies what we already know, and that is that Terry Collins is not equipped to lead this team. I go back to the Utley play in Game 2 last year, where they failed to say the "neighborhood play" was relevant. Terry should have thrown a shitfit out there. And I mean like literally he should have taken a dump on second base. The Mets got screwed like I have never seen but he didn't see it fit to stand up for the team. Tactical mistakes, mental errors, and the team just looks like shit. They gave Terry a 2 year deal. Which means this winter, you either give him an extension, or allow rumors to swirl about your lame-duck manager all next season. If it were me, I'd fire Terry now. And Kevin Long along with him. Shake things up. This team is going nowhere. Gotta try something.
  23. Fuck it man. They fucking suck.
