  1. WTF TERRY. THIS ONE IS ON YOU.
  2. Is Terry conscious? Is he even watching this game?
  3. With what is basically our A lineup minus Cespedes. Obviously missing Ces is a big piece, but we are getting to the point where we can't say we are decimated by injuries anymore, at least to the lineup. 6 of the 8 position players out there were projected starters on Opening Day. One sub (Flores) is outperforming the regular (Cabrera) and the other sub is the best player on the team.
  4. G-Fafif wrote: The employee won't be fired, it has been reported, but won't be on Mr. Met duty any longer. Well that's good. No one wanted Fman to get fired. Just slapped around a little bit.
  5. seawolf17 wrote: Seems like it's been a lot longer than 5 years. http://archives.thecranepool.net/17900/f14_t17982.shtml I wrote it like I was kidding, but I literally high-fived the dog because there was nobody else in the room. The dog was like "I literally high-fived the dad. There was nobody else in the room."
  6. I was one of those that was hung up on this probably a little more than it deserved. Ever since I was a kid, I would get excited as soon as the side went down in order in the first. This could be the night! Only to inevitably sigh just the slightest bit later when the first hit was registered. It was thrilling to watch that game. I remember refusing to get up from my seat the last few innings afraid I would jinx things. Where is Mike Baxter these days? Is he on twitter? Every Mets fan should give him a shoutout today.
  7. Ceetar wrote: I'm not objecting to him being fired. I'm merely pointing out this means virtually nothing to the Mets or Mr. Mets image. I think you cannot be more wrong. Like the Bobby Bonilla contract, or Madoff, or Vince Coleman and the firecracker, this is the type of thing that tends to stick. Five years from now, someone will mention Mr. Met and some annoying guy will bring up this incident.
  8. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: This is "funny" but totally not funny. That the Mets just put any party-patrol dumbass in the clothing of its most recognizable branding icon is just unconscionably stupid and reckless. They cut every corner even on their own identity. I hate to say this but the Phillies would never do this. They had 1 Phanatic for years. A thousand times yup.
  9. But on a more serious note, yes, you wait until the end of July, and then you also factor in: 1. If we've had any other soul-crushing injuries 2. How are our starters looking (has Harvey bounced back? deGrom still inconsistent)? Etc. 3. Prognosis on Noah and Familia If we are within 5 games, and Noah and Familia are on the road back, I think you have to go for it. Which doesn't mean you can't still sell off a few pieces. Bruce/Granderson are expendable if the rest of the OF is healthy. And if we call up Rosario or Smith, that can mean you sell on Cabrera or Duda. I would keep Duda, but I guess the Mets have to listen to offers.
  10. Love to hear the pitch on Blevins. LEFTY AVAILABLE. ALREADY PITCHED A SEASON'S WORTH IN 4 MONTHS BUT I'M SURE HE'S GOT SOMETHING LEFT IN THE TANK. JUST DON'T TALK TO THE MFY'S ABOUT PEDRO FELICIANO. TOP 5 PROSPECT OBO.
  11. It doesn't make any difference in the long run but feel like it's better to win with a clean hit. Very subdued celebration tonight. You figure a team that is struggling covets every win they get. Jake tomorrow. Good chance to make it 4 in a row.
  12. Don't get shut out by Zach Davies.
  13. So turns out Ryan played this game with a broken finger. Tough break for the kid. Out for probably the rest of the summer season.
  14. Frayed Knot wrote: Wonder if this game from Gsellman causes a re-think of their plans for starter vs bullpen? But whether they do or not, it still seems odd and unnecessary that they decided to not only to pre-decide it but also to pre-announce it. You can certainly understand why they'd slot Matz right into the rotation ahead of RG but not so much Lugo. I saw the clip last night. Basically Matz is a starter, and Lugo has to start because of the elbow issue. Pitching out of the pen would cause more stress. So Gsellman to the pen.
  15. PNC is every bit as beautiful as advertised. The bridge, the skyline, but the prettiest part of the ballpark was the ace for the visiting team going 8 and a third. What a great night.
  16. Thanks guys! Heading over now.
  17. Thanks guys! Heading over now.
  18. Taking the kids to see the game in Pittsburgh. Have never been to PNC. Any suggestions on food/experiences you can't miss are appreciated. Wish I wasn't so damn mad at the Mets.
  19. cooby wrote: This is absolutely the coolest thing that has ever happened as a result of the CPF (and MOFO, let's be fair) If any of your boys ever play in Williamsport, please let me know and I'll be there with bells on. Trust me, it could happen. It's crazy to think that two boys whose births were celebrated on this board, actually hooked up in a baseball game. So cool.
  20. Bat-wrap kid was my favorite. Saw d'Arnaud 2016 and said to himself, I need to hit like that!
  21. 22. I think we should stop playing games on Sundays.
  23. Also, game not well-attended by other CPF members. Perhaps attendance was affected by the weather, which was ABSOLUTELY FUCKING BEAUTIFUL. There is talk of making this a home and home series, so if the West Siders make the trip to Brooklyn, we will try to give a little bit more notice, at which point we expect a lot more CPF turnout.
  24. Full Game Report: *Scrappy 78's (mostly 10 yos) hung right in there with with the West Siders (11's) until the late innings. The year doesn't seem like much but makes a big difference at that age. Every time we play a 12 yo team we get smoked. *Game was close until the 4th inning when a clearly talented 78's bullpen was mis-managed by incompetent 78's coach. Bad bullpen management and a couple of balls that found holes were the deciding factors. *Speaking of incompetent coaching, WS coach's son hurt his forefinger on his throwing hand before the game and was relegated to OF. Post-game found out that he downplayed severity of injury and it actually might be broken. Basically swung one handed during the game. WS coaching staff receiving severe backlash on mis-handling of injuries. WS strength and conditioning coach Mike Barwis denies any fault. *78's hampered by injuries themselves, and missing players. Couple of broken wrists for the Cheetos in the week leading up to the game. Also, several Cheetos were spotted clubbing late Saturday night into the morning. Clearly the 78's organization does not have the proper protocols in place. *Delicious beers were enjoyed post-game by the coaches.
  25. Lots of fun. 2nd generation CPF baseball games are the best. Thanks for making the trip Coach Lunchbucket and crew!
