  2. For me, nothing is worse than when your pitcher gives up a big lead early. Like yesterday. It deflates the whole crowd, suddenly you notice now hot it is outside, the food doesn't taste as good. The beer is not as crisp. Everything sucks and you think about fighting traffic on the way home. It's interesting because at home, these losses are the easiest to digest. You turn the TV off. Go do something else. Check in, if they make it close, you come back to it. If not, you go about your business. But when you are at the game, you are stuck. Made to suffer every laborious pitch thrown by the worst guy in your bullpen. Late-inning losses are tough at home or at the park, but at least you get to enjoy the entire game experience, even if it ends in heartbreak.
  3. Off the top of my head: http://www.leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=6193&tabno=A We bought brooms and everything. Was a tight game, but the Mets were getting no-hit. Wheels came off for Reed and the game was over. http://www.leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=8444 Wheeler sucks. http://www.leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=8930 Wheeler sucks.

Ironic too because in the same page where Pelfrey is mentioned, where he was personally responsible for my least favorite trip ever to Shea. Pelfrey sucked in the CitiField opener. The leadoff HR to Jody Gerut, and only went downhill from there. That game was much better than last night.
  5. One of the worst game experiences I've ever had. Really don't like Wheeler at all. I think he's cut from the same cloth as Pelfrey and Trachsel. I feel like he should refund my tickets. What a shit night.
  6. Anyone going tonight? The 'Fields will be in section 134 with ShortCenter's schoolmates.
  7. Lead is down to 8.5 games. All we have to do is pick up one more game over the next two, and then sweep the Nats to pull within 3.5 games. DO IT.
  8. Frayed Knot wrote: That's 3.5 games gained in three days. This is the really cool part. At this rate we'll catch them in...(counts on fingers)...real soon!
  9. Terrific writeup! Thanks for this.
  10. Edgy MD wrote: Considering this came followed an encouraging doubleheader sweep and fell on a Sunday, this victory may be one of the topsiest of the year. It's certainly rare to see the 2017 Mets come out of a weekend on anything like an upswing. Right? Sundays are usually reserved for losing by 2 touchdowns and suffering a demoralizing injury.
  11. I love these thread titles.
  12. Edgy MD wrote: Good luck, Guzzlers. Don't give up on those non-hitters. Look down your roster. One of those kids is just one adjustment away from being the next Ben! There is a ton of talent down there. Just hasn't clicked for them yet. I have three guys that are just a step away from being productive. It's a tough adjustment coming up from the minors (10 year olds pitching) to the majors (12-13 year olds pitching). Other than my superstar, most of my kids are 11 and it's the first time they are facing older kids. They'll get it. Hopefully today.
  13. Our rec league playoffs started this week. We had a bye in round one but played a tight quarterfinal yesterday. Squeaked out a nailbiter 3-2. We had one hit (a 2 run HR) the whole game. We have really good pitching on our team, but basically we only have about 4 kids who have any chance at the plate. The two coach's kids hit 1-2, one kid is talented but has been inconsistent, and then one twelve year old who is the best overall player in our league. And now with Ryan out, we are that much thinner. Semifinals are tonight. Play the top seed in our tournament. Wish us luck!
  14. Thank god you guys brought this up. I was thinking I was the only that was distracted by how attractive the new weekend anchor Taylor Rooks is. Glad I'm not the only one.
  15. I don't like how other MLB clubs keep emailing me after I go to a game. Get the hint Pirates. It was just a one time thing. Don't be blowing up my phone afterwards. Next time I'm back in town I know how to find you. Until then, just chill. Last thing I need is for my Mets to start getting suspicious.
  16. Edgy MD wrote: Also, the stilted accents of the denizens of Paradise Island made for unintentional hilarity. Loved the accents. I get why it doesn't work for everyone, but I thought it added a lot to the characters. Was it done because Gal speaks with an accent and everyone had to match? Was wondering about that. If you're going to nitpick, you could go the route of "Why do the Germans speak to each other in broken English rather than their native German?" But why would you during such a great ride.
  17. Vic Sage wrote: Its love story was touching, its humor was good enough to keep it from being too somber (unlike most DC movies), and its action was brilliantly executed. Please, sir, may i have some... more? The love story on many levels. Between the Queen and Diana, between the Queen and Robin Wright's character, between WW and Chris Pine, between WW and humanity, and even the camraderie between Chris Pine and his band of misfits. The story had so much heart.
  18. Benjamin Grimm wrote: It's just too bad that the actress playing Wonder Woman was so damn unattractive. I almost feel bad mentioning it because the movie is so much more than just a hot girl running around in a superhero costume, but wow. Absolutely stunning. I feel like the word "beautiful" applies to very few actresses today, but definitely is appropriate here.
  19. I mean, it is so good. Every time I read it.
  20. He's about 70 points of OPS under his average so you think he should bounce back a bit? One would hope anyway. But even if he gets back there a mid .700's OPS isn't that great considering his defense. If we were in the thick of things I think I'd be calling for Rosario. Or even to get more starts for Reyes. But with everything else that's wrong with this team it's hard to think it would make a huge difference. Or maybe it would. I don't know. I just hate the Mets so much.
  21. Lefty Specialist wrote: (Beep.......beep.......beep.......) Yeah. I get the feeling that there is going to be no turnaround. This year pretty much sucks. Of course, anything can happen, but I think I've moved on from getting frustrated that it isn't happening, to expecting nothing from this season and will be pleasantly surprised if they make a run. I wonder when this happened in other disappointing years. 1993. 2002. Probably around this time I would guess.
  22. Anyone see this yet? Wow. Terrific.
  23. This is terrific. Lots of Cheetos fans on this board. Brag on! Go Cheetos!
  24. This would still be a close game if Terry had pulled the pitcher who clearly had nothing. This is inexcusable.
  25. Fuck this team. Trade everyone and fire Terry.
