  1. Even that throw was bounced.
  2. Lugo walks the first batter every time. Fucking concentrate.
  3. He should have tried. Worst case Conforto leads off.
  4. Should have started Lagares.
  5. Also, annoyed that I have to wait a half hour longer for first pitch. Atlanta sucks.
  6. No Lagares against the lefty? I'd sit Bruce.
  7. Fastball: Shot Breaking pitches: Shot Control: Shot Being a Dickhead: Mid season form.
  8. It's like Scott Rice all over again. Maybe a guy is just not supposed to pitch in 75 games in a year.
  9. I really don't get using Blevins last night. The more I think about it, the less sense it makes. First off, Blevins has appeared in 11 games. That's 1 off the MLB lead (12, Blake Wood and Sam Freeman). Granted he hadn't pitched since Monday, but generally we are going to want to limit Jerry's appearances as much as possible given he's our only lefty. Secondly, it's a 4 game series. Why would you give them a look at Jerry in a spot like that? You figure FFF is going to come up in a high leverage spot some time this weekend. Why give him extra looks in a blowout Game 1? And allowing him to face that many batters. Now you may have burned him for tonight. (Or if you pitch him tonight, for the day after). Makes no sense. And not that I think it ultimately made a difference, but without the Blevins blowup, the winning run comes to the plate in that 8th inning.
  10. Yeah, the third starter was going to be huge. I was hoping like all hell that we would see a resurgence from Matt Harvey, but I'm more convinced than ever that he's just toast. It would have been great to see Matz get out of the gate as well, but even though he's healthy, he's showing that he is basically what we've seen the past few years. I don't think Vargas and Wheeler will be anything more than back end starters. Maybe they can just stay close and pick up someone strong at the deadline. I've liked what I've seen from the bullpen so far. A lot of these guys are performing better than we thought they might. The obvious exception is Blevins. It was risky to come in with one lefty to begin with. A lefty with that many miles on him, that's even worse. I feel like this was something Sandy didn't take seriously enough. We've got Bryce Harper and FFF in our division. A lot of discussion about Jay Bruce yesterday. I don't think he's as bad as Ceetar thinks he is, but he's not a top line slugger, and I feel like we are relying on him to be one. I think Bruce is best used as a secondary source of power, a 5th place hitter like Cleveland used him.
  11. Um. Why would you bring in our lone overworked lefty tonight?
  12. Fucking Harvey. He’s done.
  13. Fun with small sample size. McCutchen OPS: .612 Harrison OPS: .679 McCutchen + Harrison = 1.291 Brandon Nimmo OPS: 1.214
  14. He has a .957 OPS this April. I guess the slow starts were a Mets thing. 2 HR's including that Grand Slam. You know who does suck? Neil Walker, that's who. No HR's in 52 AB's. .173 average and a .438 OPS. Who was that idiot that wanted him over Cabrera? What a stupid. Others: Lucas Duda: 3 HR's for the awful KC Royals. .739 OPS. Addison Reed: 9 IP, 1.00 ERA, 10K's. 0.889 WHIP Ones that got away: Jason Kipnis. .463 OPS. No HR's. Made a bad error that led to the Indians losing in 16 innings to the Twins. Josh Harrison. Broken hand. Out 6 weeks. .679 OPS before he went down. Andrew McCutchen. Couple of nice walkoffs, but overall only a .612 OPS to start the year in SF. Lancy Lynn. 0-1. 5.00 ERA. 1.778 WHIP
  15. What a terrific game. It was the second night this week that I had trouble going to bed after a Mets game.
  16. I don't understand why you pinch hit the guy who's 0 for 2018 in that 6th inning. Conforto was available no? I get the lefty-righty thing, but if the RH batter is 0 for 16 and the lefty batter is Conforto, I think you have to throw the splits out the window. I thought it was a real good sign the other day when Calloway PH Gonzalez against a LH hitter. I guess that didn't last.

  18. Frayed Knot wrote: The reason why the price would be MUCH higher on Realmuto compared to Ramos is that he's 3-1/2 years younger (just turned 27 vs 31 in August), is far more athletic (faster than many non-catchers), doesn't have Ramos's severe/recent injury history (WR missed Sept + playoffs in '16 plus much of '17 with a knee), and, mainly, is under team control thru 2020 vs just the finish of this year for Ramos. You also tend to worry about Ramos's big body going forward - listed at 6' 1" / 245 and carries the nickname of 'Buffalo'. Don't think I want a rehabbing / aging one of those. The Marlins are going to ask for a significant return for Realmuto, as they should. I think Ramos is a free agent at the end of this year. So you don't worry about the age thing, and it fits our needs better. TdA will be back next year.
  19. And yes, I concede, all sorts of yuge assumptions all over my last post.
  20. seawolf17 wrote: Centerfield wrote: Especially since the price should be much lower on Wilson Ramos. I would hope so, considering he's way worse. Worse yes. But way worse? Ramos is 3 years older, but still only 30 years old. I hear that both are good defensively, but I don't really know that firsthand. Offensively, Realmuto is better, but is he way better? .753 career OPS (Realmuto) to .739 (Ramos). I guess Ramos's numbers are inflated by that insane walk year he had. But then again, it's his walk year again... Anyway, if the price difference is Nimmo/Smith/Gimenez/Peterson for Realmuto, or "Just pay his salary" for Ramos, I'd rather Ramos.
  21. Reading through this thread now. I didn't mean to imply I was on board giving up Nimmo. I love the guy. Would not trade him for Realmuto. Especially since the price should be much lower on Wilson Ramos.
  22. I get the feeling Ben thinks Rice-a-Roni is more valuable than the rest of us do. I'd much rather have the Lee Press-on-Nails.
  23. And how are we going to find out if Nimmo can hit lefties if we never play him?
  24. Edgy MD wrote: Cabrera needs to be sitting today. Yeah. That would be the ballsy move right? But he's hitting, and he switch hits, and we need this game, and Reyes is 0 for 2018. Are we really sitting Conforto every lefty?
  25. Blevins is certainly a candidate for regression. Especially considering his overuse last year. I get your point about Ramos, but Ramos has been bad for a few years, while Jerry has been pretty consistently good, last year being a tick up. And even last year, Blevins was fine in his role as a LOOGY. 0.88 WHIP against LH's last year. I'd be fine if he could repeat that.
