  1. Um, these Braves can fucking hit. If they do that to Syndergaard, I cringe to think what they will do against Vargas.
  2. 6-9 since the win streak. They haven't won two in a row since it ended. Two and a half weeks of crappy baseball. Question marks all over the place in the rotation. Offense has been inconsistent. I worry that the hot start has allowed folks to get complacent about the real issues facing this team. We can't afford to go useless catcher-Rosario-pitcher over a third of the lineup. We need actual rotation help. Gotta get another lefty in the pen.
  3. Not looking good so far. I don't think anyone expected him to be worse than 2017, but that's exactly what he's been. Struggles to make contact. Swing looks long and loopy. Even the occasional power has disappeared. I don't know how long you can carry him. Maybe you send him down to get straightened out and give Cecchini a chance.
  4. Hi. I'm Peter Alonso. And I'm on fucking fire. .400/.500/.788 That last one is slugging, not OPS. His OPS is 1.288. Hit a 3 run bomb last night to make it 8 HR's on the year.

Makes me think Sandy already knew about the report or he's not in any way shocked that Harvey would go off and do shit like this. Absolutely. I mean, we're not shocked. And presumably Sandy knows him better.
  6. Right? I would guess that the chances of that are about 60-40 in favor of dis-thumb-ment.
  7. Matt Harvey wrote: I shouldn't have quit getting dumped by supermodels. It's caused me to slump. Getting dumped helped me keep my mechanics in place. It's like Cespedes with the golf. Except in my case, I need to get dumped. May or may not be word for word.
  8. Per Sandy, Cespedes did not get an MRI. Felt fine yesterday so was cleared to play. This sounds totally fine. I can't see how anything bad can come from skipping the MRI. This sounds completely logical and reasonable.
  9. My feelings on this: *partying during your own time is every ball player's prerogative. Probably a ton of guys do stuff like this and it never gets reported *but partying like this certainly doesn't give the impression that the ballplayer is trying his hardest. Even though he might be. So you understand if fans are upset *I don't get the feeling Matt Harvey is trying his hardest.
  10. In the lineup tonight.

Yesterday does not seem to be a step in the right direction. Something happened yesterday. It could have been a disaster, it could have been nothing. *Cespedes completed MRI today. Results pending. *Cespdedes MRI post-poned to Tuesday. *Cespedes MRI inconclusive. Further evaluation on Tuesday. Any one of those updates would be better than nothing. I don't understand the Mets' communications strategy. Not saying anything makes it a bigger story. Exactly. In fact, not saying anything becomes a story itself.

  13. SNY was playing the Colon HR game last night. Did you know that in that game, David Wright was 2 for 2 with a HR and 3 BB? That was May 7, 2016. He looked strong and relatively healthy. It's crazy what a difference 2 years makes.
  14. Mets go for two in a row. Noah versus someone not as awesome as Noah.
  15. Mets say they will not update today. Wtf is that all about.
  16. Rockin' Doc wrote: Well Harvey went to college at UNC, so he's not really accustomed to taking instruction. I can't let this one go without a hearty round of applause. But hey, since this is an academic violation and not an athletics issue, we can't really punish UNC. As you were. Nothing to see here.
  17. You know, even if he were to suddenly be able to play, does he even have a place on this team? You don't play him over any regulars, and it's hard to cut a bench player for a guy who may not be able to answer the bell on any given day. So at the end, it wasn't even the spinal stenosis that did him in right? It was the neck and shoulder injury?
  18. 51 degrees and cloudy this morning at HSS. Parking lot is a jammed due to month end, and Carol at reception brought banana nut muffins that she baked over the weekend. And a pleasant good morning to everyone.
  19. Edgy MD wrote: If we get nothing else from 2018, the team sure seems to have licked the 2017 Bad Sunday Curse. Was last year also the rubber game curse? (It would make sense given we never won on Sundays). I can't remember if that was the same year or not.
  20. When you do these predictions, it's so easy to think in black and white. Gonzalez will either be "shot" or "back to his old self". I guess I never really considered the possibility that he would be ok. Not good, not awful, but just ok. AGon has a .706 OPS, which is clearly not good enough from first base. But is it enough to cut him? He's been much better than he looked in spring training, and has had some bad luck. Even yesterday they made a nice catch on his ball into the gap. .706 is about 50 points better than Dom Smith was last year. And Dom has been good, not great, at AAA. If I had to guess, I'd bet they both stay where they are for the time being. The wild card here is Alonso, who is tearing up AA. Leading the league in everything. Homered for the fourth straight game yesterday. If he keeps this up, you have to move him up, but with Smith blocking him, there's really no where to send him. Maybe you give him a 3B glove?
  21. So aggravating. As annoying as a scoreless inning can be.
  22. I’m reminded how unenjoyable Wheeler starts are. Deep counts. Tons of base runners.
  23. Let’s hope so against this lineup.
  24. The rubber game. New winning streak starts today.
