  1. Really? I think he's demoted once Vargas is activated. Maybe Rhame goes. In any case, I don't see a lot from Paul Sewald. Will be a forgotten name by year's end.
  2. I've resigned myself to the fact that nothing good will be left alone. If a movie kicks ass, they will make sequels until you can't stand it anymore. And when the sequels run their course, they will re-boot, or re-make it. And then more sequels, etc. Look at how right they got everything with Lord of the Rings. Consolidating that massive work into three movies. Terrific job. And then they went and made a thousand Hobbit movies.
  3. Let's go back to August of 2017. We are all pretty bummed about what we just saw. Suddenly, KC pulls up in his Delorean and says: "Hey guys, I know it sucks now, but just wanted to let you know that he's only going to miss 5 games. And he probably didn't even need to miss them, it's just that Nimmo's been lighting the world on fire and we wanted to get him some consistent looks. Anyway, Conforto returns in game 6, the first game against the Nats. He hits a 2 run tiebreaking HR off Strassburg, and the Mets go on to win 8-2 and extend their first place lead." Suddenly, not so bad right?
  4. Also, a few thoughts. We got two breaks in that grand slam inning. One was the Cespedes checkswing. It looked like he did not go, but lazy umps have been calling that strike 3 for the past few years. Very fortunate there. We were even more fortunate on the 2-2 pitch to Bruce right before the GS. That was a strike. I feel like the pitcher thought so too, and felt like he had to get a lot of plate to make sure he didn't walk in a run. The rest is history. Some of this is offset by the bullshit strike 3 on Cabrera, but in 2017 no way we get those breaks.
  5. Lefty Specialist wrote: A Boy Named Seo wrote: That was immensely satisfying. Wasn't it? Beating one of their aces, and spoiling their home opener, boy it doesn't get any better than that. I don't remember a single moment in 2017 that came close to being as cool as today's win. Like not one. When we are all drunk at the ticker tape parade in November, we're going to remember that bases loaded no one out jam as the moment that this team took off and never looked back. I mean, think about it. Bases loaded, no one out. No runs score. The next inning, the other team gets a few breaks from the umps and then hits a grand slam. You can't get any more 2017 Mets than that.
  6. Also let’s pitch Robles every day.
  7. Let’s play four outfielders.
  8. Spent the day at the airport only to have our flight cancelled. Now we are at some shitty hotel near the airport until 3:30 am when we leave for our new flight, which takes us through St. Paul, Minnesota. Had too many martinis downstairs to remember the actual standings, but I know the Mets are in 1st place and the Nats are not. Fuck them. Let’s take 2 of 3 this weekend.
  9. Wow. Nice job. Big wins. And Robles with the big FU to me.
  10. Robles. Doesn’t seem like a good idea.
  11. I've been saying all winter that Adrian Gonzalez has a lot left in the tank.
  12. Not a fan of Cabrera. We shoulda had Walker.
  13. Brandon Nimmo owns March.
  14. TRADE DOM SMITH
  15. Hitting Yo second. +++++ Hitting Cabrera cleanup. Meh.
  16. It's ok. We got Gonzalez leading off next inning.
  17. I was debating going with my heart or my head. Heart wins out. 94 wins. Division title. Washington is bombarded with injuries and out of realistic contention by late August. Win the World Series. Everyone goes nuts.
  18. I'm hoping that the same thing that surgery that was successful for deGrom is just as effective for Matz. 14-11. 3.78 ERA.
  19. I don't really understand this. If Michael Conforto is healthy enough to play in a spring training game today, and play in minor league games until today, then why would he not be healthy enough to play on Opening Day a week from now?
  20. What was that year he said he was hurt all year and the Mets told him to toughen up? You wonder what really happened. Would be something if he was just hurt this whole time and came back throwing awesome.
  21. Finally voted on this. I went with Dom Smith. Adrian Gonzalez looks shot and it's pretty clear the Mets are refusing to look at any other options. I'm guessing Dom takes over sometime in May and is ok, but not great. Moving Jay Bruce and playing Nimmo full time makes all the sense in the world (assuming Nimmo is for real, which he totally is), which is precisely why the Mets won't do it.
  22. 1-0 Mets. Bottom 3. Anyone watching?
  23. Wait. So if he's removed the broken bone, why is he still out 2-6 weeks? Tape that shit up and get right back in there. Ronnie Lott would never stand for this.
