  1. Remember when we thought Swarzak was hurting us by being on the DL. Turns out April was his best month.
  2. Unbelievable. I don’t even know what to say.
  3. Speaking of beauty. Um. Justine Ward.
  4. I don't get why Mets Twitter gets a bad rap. I mean, twitter is a vehicle where you can choose what you want to follow and block out the others. No? So in the workplace example, you can literally fill your break room with only those whose voices you want to hear.
  5. Lefty Specialist wrote: We're kind of in 'throw it against the wall and see what sticks' mode right now. You rang?

Thought it was fun. Not as good as Rogue One. Better than Last Jedi.
  7. Agreed. Plus I'd like to give Dom Smith a steady string of AB's and see what he can realistically do in the big leagues. No rush on Alonso unless we suddenly find ourselves back in the pennant race.
  8. I don't get it. Why do some teams have different amounts?
  9. Was good for a 1.029 OPS in AA over 214 AB's. Mixed in 14 HR's. Since being called up to AAA, his OPS has improved to 1.056. Has hit 2 more HR's. Plays 2B. He's older (26) and is kind of a late bloomer compared to his earlier years, but ya know, what the hell else do we have to lose? Would be nice to see what this kid can do. Would have been nice to give Cecchini and TJ Rivera some AB's too, but they've been out longer than expected.
  10. This is good news? I'm unfamiliar with how international signings work. I know each team is alotted a pool of money. Every team uses that pool right? So it's just a matter of how well you scout?
  11. I balked at the idea of trading deGrom and Syndergaard. I still think I am against it, especially since I have no confidence in the Mets ability to get value for these guys, but I honestly have no idea how in the world to fix this team.
  12. I know this is your schtick, but why do you write things that even you can't possibly believe? Assuming they end up with a losing record this year, that will be 8 losing seasons in the last 10. The only two winning seasons are a 90 win season, and an 87 win season. And now we are looking down the barrel of another rebuild. How can anyone argue the fact that this team is seriously broken.
  13. Mets are 19-16 when Cespedes starts. 13-31 when he doesn’t. Those numbers are consistent with his time here. The problem is not that we signed him. It’s that we don’t have enough of him or any protection for him.
  14. I mean. What else is there to root for this summer? I hope he comes back. Citi sells out that night. Reyes gets the sentimental start at SS next to him. He hits a dramatic HR. Gets a standing ovation. Goes out on his terms. Sure, this goodwill tour will end up costing the Wilpons quite a bit of money. In a way, that makes it better.
  15. I supported it then and still support it now. Injuries are tough to predict. If you are scared of injuries you can't sign anyone. And he's been productive when healthy. Plus we had no choice. It's not like it came down to Cespedes or another elite bat we could pick from. Because of our miserly ownership, it was Cespedes or dick. I choose Cespedes. If it was the case that he wasn't an option, we'd have spent that money on some Michael Cuddyer/Jay Bruce/Todd Frazier bullshit.
  16. Gary’s had it folks. Mickey’s dumb and he knows it.
  17. By the way, not a single pat on the back for calling this hours before it went down? Tough crowd.
  18. The Daily News confirming basically what we knew yesterday, which is that Sandy has been fired. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/ny-sports-mets-alderson-harper-20180626-story.html The more I think about it, the more I feel this is complete horseshit. Either Sandy was fired for cause or he wasn't. If he was fired, then leave the illness out of it, and own up to the fact that you fired your GM. If Sandy was not fired for cause, then come out in full support of him, and say it's his job and we fully expect him to resume. Say the failures of this team are on all of us, owners included, and that Sandy has not been terminated in any way, shape or form. Trotting him out there to fall on his sword, while sitting there using cue cards to try to look compassionate is absolutely positively the Wilpon way.
  19. So we bunt when they are expecting it, but not when they give us half the field?
  20. No worries. Just followed you!
  21. Jeff Wilpon has every opportunity to say “When Sandy recovers, we fully expect him to resume his position as the General Manager of the Mets. He is our guy and has our full support.” Instead, he stood by and deflected as Sandy fell on his own sword. Sandy Alderson was fired today. Make no mistake of that. Sandy did a terrible job but is a good man. It’s terrible that his cancer has recurred. It’s an absolute fucking travesty that his dickless employer is using this illness to skirt taking responsibility.
  22. I'm frustrated that nothing is ever going to change. At least when Doubleday was around there was a counter to the Wilpon way. Now after 15 years of exclusive ownership, we see that there are huge flaws in the organization's thinking. Nothing is going to change. This is our new reality.
  23. The local papers have been letting him have it recently, including the Daily News. Which I think may be a sign that the Mets are preparing to make him the fall guy. Pretty self-serving and convenient. For the most part, the beat writers gave him a pass all winter. Now that those crap moves have blown up, they're throwing the blame on him. Would have been nice to call him out during the winter when there was time to do something about it. Anyway, I have mixed feelings about this if it happens. I think Sandy has done a terrible job, but I have no confidence that they can find anyone better. Plus, the Wilpons are going to Wilpon, so it's not like much is going to change. Still, if the ceiling on this organization is to someday put together a team built to win 85 games and contend for the Wild Card, I guess it's possible we can find someone who's better at doing this than Sandy.
