  1. 12 minutes in. Who's nervous? Not me.
  2. You'd think even the Wilpons would pull the trigger on Hand. Hope he makes it to us.
  3. And with the upper tier starters, I'd be wary of Bauer coming off what might be a fluke year against weak teams. I like Stroman, but not enough to give him ace money for a #3 starter. At 5'7” you'd also think he doesn't age well.
  4. It's considered a down year for FA, but still some good names. I like Springer a lot. And I think he can man CF for a few more years. Hendricks is amazing and worth a look. Zack Britton might be available too. Of the lower tier starters I'm not high on Odorrizzi or Gausman. I think Paxton could be better than he's shown. And maybe Kluber bounces back. I liked Alex Wood last year but he didn't really do well this year.
  5. Is he approved yet? How about now?
  6. Nightengale is a Jeff Wilpon/ARod stooge. He was the one that designated the JRod group as the “frontrunner”.
  7. It's pretty evident that all the bad luck we've complained about had nothing to do with luck at all.
  8. Gotta love everything we are reading so far. I think to make a good owner, one has to be: 1. Rich enough to fund a big market payroll 2. Smart enough to hire good baseball people to run the team 3. Humble enough to stay out of the way The Wilpons were 0 for 3. The rumblings around Cohen suggest he will hit the first two. The third remains to be seen.
  9. Todd Pratt is really Trumpy. I think everyone would expect that.
  10. Think of how long it might have been if Taylor only faced two batters. God bless Manfred.
  11. Thanks. Now I understand the revenge-themed tweets I read.
  12. Frayed Knot wrote: What a fuckin' AB!!!! And that's even before you mix in the (very recent) history between those two. What is the history?
  13. Smaller than ever. Lol. Really looking forward to this. But since it's 2020 I'm guessing Ben's computer eats him about halfway through.
  14. And for the record, I've been critical of Sandy, probably more than most here. But most of that stemmed from my expectations of him and his willingness to be a mouthpiece for Wilpon garbage. Obviously none of that is an issue anymore. I love Sandy as an executive and a person and am thrilled at this move. It was never right that his last chapter with the Mets was that bullshit press conference.
  15. This year has obviously been shit, but if it ends with A vaccine, President Joe Biden, and Steve Cohen it will certainly dull the pain. Imagine us at Citi next year, shoulder to shoulder, joyously cheering President Biden's first pitch to JT Realmuto.
  16. Diaz has electric stuff now that his slider is back. I just wonder if he'll ever have the control you he needs to take it to the next level. Anyway. I'm good with Diaz. Now let's find 4 more guys as good as him.
  17. He was hurt by the slick ball last year. His slider is back and over time the performance has returned. I think he'll be fine. I don't know if this means he'll be the “closer” in 2021. I'm hoping the new administration cares less about labels and more on compiling a small army of effective and diverse relievers.
  18. The dude's gotta learn the meaning of “too close to take” once you get to two strikes. The guy strikes me as dumb.
  19. It's not automatic, but a pretty safe assumption. One fought like hell to keep Jeff away. The other group embraced him. The group that likes Jeff would be over leveraged, similar to the Wilpons. So yes. Not dispositive, but likely.
  20. Nice broadcast team for the ADT.
  21. Seaver starts. Tug available out of the pen but you probably won't need him. Carter at catcher. Agee in CF. Who's your manager? Gil or Casey?
  22. I'm sorry that we came back from commercial early and a hot mic caught me being myself.
  23. I like Gimenez a lot. Great hands. Fast. And he just kinda looks like a player. Has a swing that suggests he will hit for average. The problem is he just doesn't have a track record for hitting. A sub .700 OPS at AA isn't exactly encouraging. And the Fall League was nice, but like this season, it's a small sample size. But he's young. Will fill out, and may learn to hit consistently. Was surprised to see him listed as 6'. Doesn't seem like he is.
