  1. If his uptick in pitch framing is real then I'm on board. He's a pretty drastic drop off from Realmuto, but if this means Springer, another quality starter and Brad Hand, then it's worth it. I know that Cohen's resources are nearly limitless, but I think he will show restraint in his first offseason.
  2. Wait, so is this guy like, good?
  3. I'm convinced. Let's sign him.
  4. Bobby Heck out of the running for GM. Not sure if that means he withdrew or if the Mets passed. Chris Young, the pitcher, has been interviewed. The move would fly in the face of Cohen's aversion to first timers, but I guess these are the options left. Again, all this suggests that perhaps executives weren't as eager to join this team as one had hoped. I wonder if the impression that Sandy would be calling the shots works against them. Who knows.
  5. Will Smith too.
  6. Trades are hard. I think it's both too much to give up and not enough to get it done. Tampa probably looks at that package and sees a guy with a torn UCL, a back of the rotation starter, a fringy prospect, and a first round talent that is unfortunately years away. Someone probably comes in and gives them a blue chipper. Also, giving up Lugo and Peterson leaves us needing a back end starter and a front line reliever. Not sure we come out ahead here. Maybe we're better off just holding our nose and signing Bauer for money. Likely the price tag on Darvish would be lower. Maybe we try there. I'm also surprised we are not hearing any rumblings on Corbin/Strasburg. Washington seems to be trending toward a rebuild. You'd think they'd try to get value for these guys.
  7. Maybe we could just ask Tampa who they want and then we know who not to give up in the Lindor trade.
  8. Morton was a key cog in my “World Series Contender while staying under the luxury tax” model. Of course that required him to sign for $8M, so that's out the window. Of course I have no idea if the Mets intend to stay under the luxury tax, so I don't know if it matters. I don't know a lot about Odorizzi, but his stats suggest he's very inconsistent.
  9. 1 year, $15 million. Whatever we end up doing, Braves are going to be tough in 2021. Good pitching, good lineup. Morton would have been a nice option for the Mets. For what it's worth, he nearly doubled his predicted salary per MLB Trade Rumors. They had him at $8M to the Mets.
  10. The hair is worth the league minimum, in and of itself. It's like he's Randy Johnson with a great perm. https://cdn.newsday.com/polopoly_fs/1.50071158.1605908829!/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/landscape_768/image.jpg> I put this on Twitter, and Sam liked it! Point is, instead of putting ourselves and strangers at greater risk, we ALL should be home liking my Tweets. I didn't know you were on Twitter. You have a new follower with a familiar looking photo.
  11. I'm fine with that. Makes sense to wait for the right guy than to rush into a bad fit. Hell. Even Sandy and Ricco are fine as a one year stopgap. I think I read that the Dodgers didn't make the playoffs until year 2 after the McCourt sale. Makes sense. Let's beef up that analytics department though.
  12. So Chernoff is out. Theo Epstein was never in. I'm a little surprised that Alderson has taken this long to fill out his front office. From what I'm hearing there are still candidates out there, but I get the impression that their first choices might be off the table. As one of the guys who thought that there would be a rush of guys wanting to work for Steve Cohen, it's just a bit disappointing.
  13. Jeff Damico was tall too. Also the pitcher version of Chris Young.
  14. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: I didn't like how the Wilpons pinned all the blame on him just so they could hire Callaway and pretend that all the ills of the prior year had been cured. For what is worth, nothing helped Collins as much as being followed by that wooden surly baboon. By the way this isn't the right read on this at all. Callaway was Sandy's guy, and firing Terry was Sandy's idea. Hiring Terry back as an advisor-- along with letting Riccardo walk and getting Omar back, was part of Fred's revenge for having gotten Mickey. Forcing Sandy out and leaving Mickey to twist in the wind was the second part. This is why Terry is vamoosing now. Fred loved nothing more than sucking up to "white-haired baseball men" because he believed he was one of them. He's surely would have been a sucker for Terry's saltiness and Michigan bloodlines. Interesting. Wasn't aware of Sandy being the one promoting Mickey. Though I do remember Terry being touted as "Fred's guy". Was speaking more to the marketing that winter. Where the focus seemed to be on Mickey being able to get more out of the guys we had rather than actually bringing in better guys.
  15. From Duan's list: 1. Bobby Valentine Good manager. Good guy. I like him a lot. 2. Terry Collins Not a great manager. Good guy. I like him despite not being great. 3. Willie Randolph Not a great manager. Unlikeable guy. Don't like him at all. 4. Luis Rojas Too early to tell. Like I haven't even seen his face yet. 5. Art Howe Dumb. Seems a good guy though. 6. Jerry Manuel Not a good manager. Likeable guy. 7. Mickey Calloway The dumbest we've had. Surly and insecure. Complete waste of time.
  16. Steve Cohen walks out to home plate. Meets Bobby, shakes his hand, looks around for the oversized check. Sandy feigns surprise, looks over at Chernoff, who shrugs his shoulders. John Ricco starts making calls. Steve Cohen waves his hands and shoos everyone away. He starts rummaging through his pockets and cobbles together $1M in crumpled up bills. Hands it over to Bobby Bo as the crowd roars
  17. Cuz if his name were Dae Sung Kim...
  18. For those that feel a grown man shouldn't wear another man's name on his back, what if that name is also your name?
  19. Wasn't a great manager, but seemed like a great guy who genuinely cared. Agonized over the decision to leave Santana in. Spoke from the heart during the ass in the jackpot video. “MLB did nothing to him!” You can't fake that. I didn't like how the Wilpons pinned all the blame on him just so they could hire Callaway and pretend that all the ills of the prior year had been cured. For what is worth, nothing helped Collins as much as being followed by that wooden surly baboon. Wish he had lifted Harvey after the walk, but thankful to him for the years he put into this organization.
  20. McCann supposedly worked on his pitch framing and drastically improved in 2020. Whether that's sustainable or not I don't know.
  21. I love the guy. Let's lock him up. (Disclaimer: I wanted Wright locked up too)
  22. I voted Springer and Lindor. I think Cleveland will find that there are not many suitors, and the Mets will be able to take advantage. I think we go second tier pitcher, McCann, then upgrade the pen with either Hand, Hendricks or both.
  23. President Joe Biden throwing out the first pitch. Steve Cohen watching as owner. Jacob deGrom on the mound. What a day this will be.
