  1. How is a ball hit that high not caught.
  2. Or it could be just another loss. I hate the Peralta is always behind. Hate even more that Smoltz knows it.
  3. If they win tonight, it can be the one that turns the season around.
  4. If we’re looking for positives, the Phillies offense hasn’t been much better than the Mets (27th in MLB) and worse than the Mets in May and June. Maybe we’re 0-0 going into the late innings and the bullpens decide it.
  5. Five games under .500 is our high water mark since the losing streak. We hit that May 18 when we won the extra inning game in Washington. Since then the closest we’ve come is 7 games. We sit 7 games under today. This will be our 7 chance to get back to 6 games under (we lost the prior 6). Today we face the second best pitcher in MLB. And he throws with his left hand. The good news is, since his scoreless streak ended, he’s given up 1 run, then 2 runs, then 4 runs. So he’s clearly on the decline. Need Freddy to step up today.
  6. Deeper dive. The Mets OPS was .681 in May. Good for 19th in MLB. So the Mets haven’t been the worst scoring team in baseball for a while, it’s just that their performance in April was so bad (last by a lot) that they’ve remained at or near the cellar since. Let’s assume that Lindor returns and no one else gets hurt (a totally safe assumption, I know). Maybe that boosts the offense to league average? Couple that with a pitching staff ranked 9th in ERA and maybe you get a team that performs slightly better than .500. And that’s not good enough to dig out of the hole they are in. Still. Baseball is weird and you never know.
  7. Yes. But the Mets have a .731 OPS for June. Good for 20th in MLB. While that is better than dead Fucking last it’s no where near good enough for a sustained run.
  8. Tough matchups the next two days. Find a way to get one.
  9. The only hard hit ball in the 9th was the last out.
  10. Luke Weaver is awesome. Love the swagger.
  11. Also. This is the first time I can remember sitting down to watch the game and seeing them leading!
  12. Had a bad feeling after the leadoff walk. Great job by Brazo and Minter.
  13. This is great to hear. His control is good?
  14. Every week it’s the same thing.
  15. The pitching gets much tougher in Philadelphia. This would be a terrible series to lose.
  16. If we come back you have to fire Mendy.
  17. Benge never saw a strike. Horrific.
  18. 5-1. Looks like I may not be sticking around long for this game either.
