  1. That looked like another little blooper from Ortiz that was going to score Sanchez. 7 innings to decide it.
  2. Remember how I said the postseason was all a bonus and we're playing with house money? Trying very hard to channel those feelings right now.
  3. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=173600 time=1727969793 user_id=68] Stanek and Garrett pitched clean innings. Its funny how this works. Nobody ever complains about Mendoza when a reliever pitches a scoreless inning. When should Manaea have been removed? Only after he loads the bases with no outs? Only after he's given up five runs in one inning? Manaea was used yesterday pretty much the same way he's been used all season long.
  4. 59.3% chance the Brewers win according to ESPN. I think this sounds about right.
  5. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I was pessimistic about Game One. And the Mets won. I was optimistic about Game Two. And the Mets lost. And now I'm pessimistic about Game Three. I hope the pattern holds. Exactly this.
  6. We beat them when it counted. Our season lasted longer than their's. Victory is ours.

  8. Sucks. Today was the day to win. Tobias Myers tomorrow. A much better arm for the Brewers.

  10. Because each there are many saying a division winner shouldn't be eliminated in a best of 3 series following the season. I tend to agree with that. The simple fix is to go back to 3 division winners and 2 wild cards. But I don't see MLB going back to 5 teams. Sometime last year, I said the best way to make sure the better teams end up in the World Series is to eliminate the WC/DS rounds and make it a round robin. 12 game season following the last day of the regular season. Basically something like this: Oct. 1-3 (3 games) 1 vs. 6 2 vs. 5 3 vs. 4 Oct 5-7 (3 games) 1 vs. 5 2 vs. 4 3 vs. 6 Oct 9-11 (3 games) 1 vs. 4 2 vs. 3 3 vs. 6 Oct. 13-15 (3 games) 1 vs. 3 2 vs. 6 4 vs. 5 (1 and 2 seeds never play each other) October 16-24 (LCS) Top two seeds each league. October 25-Nov 2 World Series Over 12 games, you'd see the cream rise to the top. But the downside is there would definitely be some meaningless games at the end. So I don't really this idea taking off. Alternatively, you could keep more or less the same format, but realign the divisions. NL East 1 Division Winner 2 WC NL West 1 Division Winner 2 WC This would allow you to keep the same playoff schedule you have now. Division champion would have meaning, since each division would be 7-8 teams. The WC round would feature a geographical rival. (No cross country trips to play a WC game).
  11. Some more info on Montas. Postseason: 3 games pitched. Two with Oakland, one with the Yankees. 9.45 ERA, 1.65 WHIP At Home: 1-7. 4.95 ERA. 1.381 WHIP. Second Half: 3-4. 4.38 ERA 1.328 WHIP. IP last 5 outings: 4, 2.2, 5.2, 6, 6 What does all this mean? Probably nothing.
  12. Just reading through this thread to see if any of you guys predicted the Mets would sign an unknown Latin pop star who would hit .340 and sing the theme song of the 2024 Mets.
  13. I like how Mets Insider Andy Martino said that the Mets would not sign JD Martinez and then the Mets signed JD Martinez. Nothing is predictable in baseball except Martino not having a clue what is going on. Looking back, the Mets jumped from 20th in runs scored in 2023 to 7th in runs scored in 2024. They did this despite down years from Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo, Jeff McNeil and Francisco Alvarez. Crazy. Lindor had a great year, but he was pretty good in 2023. Really the production came partially from signing the aforementioned JD Martinez, but mostly a jump from Vientos, Iglesias coming out of nowhere, and better production from role players like Taylor, Marte, Winker, Bader, and even Acuna.
  14. As good as the Dodgers are, I think the Padres might be the best team in all of baseball. So really, we should be rooting for SD to get eliminated. But fuck that. Beat the fucking Braves.
  15. ESPN has the odds at 52.6% Brewers, 47.4% Mets. I'm guessing the Brewers being home accounts for some of that. Frankie Montas. 4.55 ERA. 1.256 WHIP. 4 IP, 2ER last time out against the Mets. Sean Manaea 3.47 ERA. 1.084 WHIP. As Fman mentioned, knocked around his last outing against the Brewers. Brewers have the much, much better bullpen.
  16. Thinking back to that 5th inning. If Chourio makes the routine play instead of the outstanding play, Marte ties the game but maybe we don't score 5. The hustle by both Iglesias and Taylor on that play. It's very possible we don't score any runs that inning. All those ground balls that found holes. The sun was definitely shining on us this game. And great job by Mendy. I said at the time I might have pulled Severino after the Mets scored, but Mendy made the right call. I also wasn't sure about pinch-hitting JD Martinez in that big spot. I feel like he's not right yet. But Mendy made those calls, and man did they work out. I can say for sure that I wouldn't have pulled Peralta. That guy was cruising. Can you imagine? Also, it's nice to be the team that doesn't have the choking stigma attached to them. As a Brewer/Brewer fan, you have to be thinking "not again".
  17. What a great game. Kept battling back. I wasn't even distraught when they went down 4-3. Is this what it feels like to believe?
  18. I want to beat the Royals in the World Series.
  19. Mendy says yes. Severino makes it pay off. All honesty I might have pulled him there.
  20. Decision. Do you send Sevy back out again?
  21. It's one of those innings that make you want to hang yourself if you're on the other side. An IF hit and bleeders everywhere. Wow.
  22. Severino coming up small in his two biggest starts of the year. Hopefully the offense can pick him up.
