I would assume a big splash from the Mets at least the first year, with a number of inductees to make up for the 8?-year gap between inductions. Then they'll go back to forgetting it exists in 2011.
I loved Fonzie as a Met. But in general, I don't like these "come back for one day and retire" things. And that is what this would be, since he was shot as a player five years ago.
It surprises me a bit that neither Herzog, Harvey, O'Day, Miller, nor Ruppert or already in. OK, maybe I'm not surprised about Miller (and how great would his induction speech be if he got in?)
Actually Phil, he's been a fall man since long before the drop. But, Oh, man, am I reading that right: they would take him and the Mets would NOT have to pay any of his salary??
Rubin should have just written: Omar Minaya arrived at the GM meetings. The Mets might do some things, but probably not. That's his whole story. Also, didn't Hudson lose his starting job last year to Ronnie f'in Belliard? I understand trying to sell high on Castillo, but is Hudson really the answer?
How about a phone call to DC to see what it would take to bring Adam Dunn up here? Last year of a 2-year deal, and they'll probably be looking to unload him by the deadline anyway.
I did no statistical research, but I will give CF a crack Beltran Payton Cameron Agbayani Chavez Hamilton Shinjo Perez Pagan Matthews Jr. Least productive: Jeff Duncan
I leave town on business Wednesday and back Saturday. I would prefer the inevitable happen in Game 6. I'll be 800 miles away and blissfully miss the media and the parade.
Governor Patterson (Met fan) on FAN this morning: When the bullpen walked the first two guys in the 8th inning, and the Phillies scored 4 runs in the last two innings, I'd seen it before and thought I must have been at Citi Field.
