  1. Just following on line but it seems that the Mets are breezing through this one like they can't wait to get out of town.
  2. I don't know who any of these guys are, but: @michaelgbaron RT @richmacleod: 20% of Gaby Sanchez's career extra base hits have come against the Mets. #woof
  3. I used to take the 44 from Hugh Grant Circle (Parkchester) out to Shea as a youngster. When we got a little older, we'd walk from Main Street rather than pay for the 1-stop train ride.
  4. $19 in the lot last year, not sure about this year. If I'm with the family, I bite the bullet and park in the lot. If I'm alone or with friends, I look for a spot over behind the Holiday Inn in that neighborhood.
  5. A rescue dog and the magic of Bud Light bring together hipster douchebags of all colors.

I don't think there was anybody Better than Ezra.

Throw some occasional time to Hairston if you're feeling creaky. Everybody is rested through the year. Win a championship. Fend off adoring women. Didn't that late-80s Roger Craig Giants do something like that? Brett Butler, Jeffrey Leonard, Mike Aldrete, and ???? Or is that just a figment of my faulty memory?
  8. Interesting that McCullough doesn't even consider the possibility that Duda could lose some ABs.
  9. One bright spot is Kirk making a case to stay in center when Torres is back. 3-4 with a walk, 2 doubles, 3 runs scored out of the leadoff spot.
  10. Our starters were probably due for a couple of duds, but pretty jarring to see Johan and Dickey lit up early 2 straight days.
  11. Trachsel, Hampton, Glavine, and Wagner are my WTFs. Teufel as well, but I guess they threw him a bone for his time in organization and on coaching staff. Batmags is right. Where the hell is Delgado? I mean, three of the guys I listed were '06 Mets...Does Carlos not merit being right there, if not before those guys, then alongside them?

OH DEAR GOD THE METS ARE GOING TO HONOR DEREK JETER! The overhyped one will one day break the hearts of every Mets fan. How many votes do you suppose Jeter's gonna get his first year of HOF eligibility? He'll garner a greater percentage of the vote than Tom Terrific did, even though Jeter's not worthy of carrying Tom's jockstrap. I never thought of that. You might be right. [winces and pounds fist against wall]
  13. Jim Frey was the 84 Cubs manager.
  14. batmagadanleadoff wrote: If it was up to me, I'd ditch the whites altogether. I only tolerated the whites because they were less of an affront than the blacks. The Mets are pinstripes. The whites are bullshit. Amen. Preach it!
  15. Ahh, the first White Jerry appearance of the season!
  16. Torres out of the game?
  17. Murph coming through with first hit and double, giving me two points in the Mets firsts thread.
  18. 1. First Mets hit of 2012 - Murphy 2. First double - Murphy 3. First triple - Torres 4. First home run - Duda 5. First run batted in - Davis 6. First stolen base - Torres 7. First caught stealing/picked off - Tejada 8. First multihit game - Murphy 9. First RBI sac fly - Wright 10. First sac hit (bunt) - Santana 11. First infield single - Bay 12. First ground-rules double - Hairston 13. First to draw a walk - Wright 14. First Met to strike out - Wright 15. First to hit into a double play - Davis 16. First pitcher to get a hit - Dickey 17. Pitcher with first win - Ramirez 18. Pitcher with first save - Francisco 19. Pitcher with first wild pitch - Santana 20. Met player to commit first error - Tejada
  19. 4th place 75-87 No playoffs, nothing.
  20. I go with Mike the batboy, pride of St. Raymond's in the Bronx. He's just to Knight's left in this photo, right in front of Kid. Wore 86.
  21. With Larussa gone, does Matheny take over the managing duties? Assuming no one is voted in by the fans, I'm gonna go with Dickey. I'll give a real tentative nod to Wright as well.
  22. Edgy DC wrote: And even so, New-win-hice is starting today, not Loewen. And I think many of us expect Newness to appear by mid-season, if not sooner. Which will make Mrs. Solo a very happy Met watcher.
  23. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: You just know this'll be the year the MFYs would fail to qualify any other way but for the extra-team bonus. Thanks a lot, Bud. Of course. First thing that popped in to my mind.
  24. While addressing the media, Mets owner Fred Wilpon said as long as I can, I plan to be the owner here. From Metsblog. Context would be important here, but it doesn't read like Fred is all that confident in what he is saying.
