  1. Fourth image from top, looks like a painting (drawing) of a lefty, perhaps in an Astros uniform? I'll guess Mike Hampton.
  2. Would the Sadecki spot still be around today? I know they tore down Al Lang and put up a new one, wondered if maybe the neighboring fields were still there.
  3. Santana maybe?
  4. Three separate west coast trips, plus a series in Colorado on another trip. The Pirate set, 4 games in Pitt end of June, might be on my radar.
  5. There was something nice about being a few hundred miles outside NY and still being able to pick up the Mets in the car that I will miss. Little Solo will be unhappy as well...he often listens to games on a radio after lights-out, and FAN is the easiest station to pick up. (I live 50 miles north of the city, FYI, and reception on 98.7 FM is touch and go).
  6. I thought the best snack for watching baseball were Wise potato chips.
  7. Brief summary from link: Rubin says team insiders are hinting that they will tender an offer to Davis. Feeling is that doing so would not be too cost prohibitive. This would still leave a trade as a viable option. Mentioned Colorado as a potential partner, as they may be looking to part ways with Todd Helton. In exchange for what-- paying his salary and listening to their snickers? I didnt take it that they would be looking to move Ike for Helton...just that Helton may be gone and they need someone to replace him. Or more likely, Rubin or his source is just making crap up.

  9. Listening to Sandy yesterday, I'm not so sure Terry is going to be back. Before yesterday I was thinking it was about 80/20 in Terry's favor. Now I think it is closer to 50/50. Not sure how I feel overall on Terry; I don't think he has wildly overachieved nor wildly underachieved. When push comes to shove, I predict it is Terry...2 years, no option, and a very short leash. None of the others listed really do much for me. I have said before that I would love to see Backman get a chance...but I'd prefer another team give him that shot.
  10. Didn't it used to be part of the collective bargaining agreement that you couldn't play a day game following a night game in a different city?
  11. Kind of apropos of nothing, but I think Hank Greenberg once hit 39 home runs in Tiger Stadium--in one season.
  12. Since the new Toilet opened in 2009, the Blue Jays are a scintillating 11-35 in the Bronx.

  14. I was at my sisters and only watched a little, but I saw Thole's HR. We all know Thole is no power guy, but he hit the ball a mile past the RF fence. Also saw Reyes get tossed arguing a called third strike. Looked low, but probably too close to take, and certainly not worth arguing to the point that it gets you kicked out.
  15. 43. Missed two pretty successful future big league managers.
  16. Chris Stewart with a 3-run bomb and they lead the Blue Jays 7-4 in the 8th inning of game 1 of a day-nighter. The Blue Jays never miss an opportunity to roll over and play dead when they come to the Bronx. These fuckers are going to make a playoff run (and probably make it), arent they?
  17. The Seaver bobblehead looks like Danny Graves.
  18. The Hessman Cycle. All you relievers. Pretenders to Brian Stokes' throne.
  19. Benjamin Grimm wrote: You're right. The last time the Rockies lost a game at Citi Field had been in 2010. Weird, 0-8 the last two seasons at Citi, but 23-4 in Queens the previous 8 seasons.
  20. Frayed Knot wrote: Par-Nell to the Dee-Ell is the corresponding move. Brian Stokes, and his Schaefer crown, breathe a sigh of relief...for now.
  21. I think last night was the Mets first win against them in Citi Field since 2010. I know that they were swept by the Rockies in 2011, and I think the same thing happened last year.
  22. I once tried to pick up a girl in Penn Station; turned out to be Bill Mazer's niece. Was going great till I mentioned 2 things: that I was there to meet another girl's train (what was I thinking?); and that I was 17--she looked a lot younger than the 25 she turned out to be. All these years later and every time I hear Bill Mazer's name I think of her.
  23. I haven't seen a muscle-head suffer this embarassing a defeat since Van Damme got his ass kicked by Chuck Zito.
  24. Brian Stokes, starting to sweat. edit: Stokes' lawyers will argue that there should be no Schaefer Reliever of the Month for September 2007. The judge may find that argument quite compelling.

That would be Marc Malusis, who like Carlin is a Francesa lickspittle that inexplicably keeps getting sports broadcasting gigs.
