  1. Braves, 5 years, $110 million.
  2. George Foster
  3. Ike Davis
  4. I'll take some low-hanging Pete Alonso fruit.
  5. Oh, if only we could get one voter to be petty and leave Jeter off his ballot just as a response to this moron.
  6. I read the book over a year ago, so I don't remember all the details. I'm thinking maybe Ken Reitz?
  7. Bobby Abreu looks like one of those guys who gets under 5% of the vote and kicked off the ballot but 15 years down the line will get a lot of support from the Veterans Committee or whatever they call it.
  8. Who was the guy hailed as "the Japanese Greg Maddux" when the Mets signed him? After a month, Bill Madden said, "instead they got the Japanese Mike Maddux"
  9. I didn't read it, no Athletic sub here, but if their system was based at least partly on literally making loud noises in the dugout when offspeed pitches were coming, how in the world did opponents not catch on?
  10. Congratulations on your championship. Here's your blank plaque.
  11. Dellin Betances is 32? Feels like he's one of those guys who should be younger.
  12. I'd be happy to see Evans and Whitaker get in. Miller too, but he's been on the Today's Game ballot before and overlooked for some reason.
  13. I could do without Terry's return, tbh.
  14. Official? I only see that guys on twitter are saying Sid Rosenberg broke the story. And well, he's not the most reliable source.
  15. It's weird, I kind of felt the momentum for Bogar was growing. Sorry, Bucket.
  16. Gimme the bombshell.
  17. Add another name to the list, per Martino: Uncovered another Mets mystery candidate: Triple-A manager Tony DeFrancesco has interviewed for managerial job and could still be in mix, per major league sources
  18. If Houston wins this, one storyline will be that Urquidy came up bigger than Ross in their respective starts.
  19. Chirinos's has two HRs in DC in this series. First catcher to have two homers on the road in a single World Series since.....Gary Carter in Fenway in 1986.
  20. Me hearing this news: Pat Murphy? Pffft. Let him go coach Notre Dame. [checks guy's resume] Hey, he DID coach at Notre Dame [Pat Murphy coaching Notre Dame might be the most Notre Dame thing ever; then again their football coach is Brian Kelly]. One of his players in college was Craig Counsell, for whom he now works. This seems like a hire in the Snitker mold (baseball lifer who's seen it all), and as Snitker has shown, that could be a good thing. No clue if he should be the guy but it does show that they are doing a pretty thorough search.

Was same issue with latter-day Expos jerseys, after they perfected the thin and stylish uni number I get the superstition that the team has about going with their "lucky" dark blues. But one of the few things I like about the Nats are their home whites.
  22. Edgy MD wrote: Do you think Ventura would qualify as a bombshell? Todd Zeile? A managerial trade for Ron Gardenhire? (Has a manager been acquired through a trade since Pete Rose?) Nobody's actually even speculated about a second tour for Terry. Yikes! There's different levels of bombshell I presume. Is this a Met fan bombshell, or a national bombshell? Ron, Keith, Piazza, Wright...Met bombshells (I doubt anybody in Des Moines would even care). A national bombshell would probably be an ARod, Hinch, even a tony Larussa. Would Zeile and Ventura even be bombshell candidates to their families? Lou Piniella was acquired by Tampa Bay via trade.
  23. Sal Romano, born in Syosset, is already part of the rotation of my New York team. I know you Connecticut people have NY envy, but stop poaching my players https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/romansa01.shtmlhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/romansa01.shtml
  24. I don't know. I'm not counting Houston out yet. Is no one else getting an '86 World Series vibe after these two games?
  25. Twitter speculation on Jessica Mendoza and AJ Hinch.
