  2. Well, that about does it. A three run deficit the way our offense is going is just about insurmountable.
  3. Smith staying in for the 7th?
  4. Milwaukee-St. Lou game a real humdinger. 8-8 top ninth, Cards get 4 in seventh and one more in 9th to tie. Another blown save for Eric Gagne, with the Cards still batting.
  5. OK, Lou, if you're going to bunt anyway, why waste a bench player? Let Lilly bunt.

  8. The diabolical Reed Johnson makes it 3-0.
  9. Any chance the could have gotten Lily on that? Gametracker says he singled to second.
  10. I have confidence in Beltran snapping out of it but right now he is struggling.
  11. The ongoing suckage of Delgado is a real downer. And Easley ends the inning. Is there any reason--at all--for a pitcher to give David Wright anything to hit?
  12. Nine up, nine down for the good guys.
  13. Nicely done, Nelson.
  14. ="Triple Dee"] They also have; Luca Duda (22) who is currently playing RF at St.Lucie, but is a 1B by trade, doing well ; .425/.500 with 2 HRs in 92ABs I can hear Chris Berman now: Luca "Zippity" Duda.
  15. I can't root for the Buchbinder Legionare. Sound a little too elitist for my taste.
  16. Seattle

In "honor" of being Benitez I'll recap what I remember most about his Met career: Down the stretch in 2001, the mets are putting together an improbable run at the division until Armando blows 2 saves against the division-leading Braves within a week in September. the Mets eventually end up 6 games out. I'll duck from the stones being thrown my way, but technically, one of those was not a blown "save". A 5-1 lead going into the 9th of one of the games, so it was not a save situation. He did blow the game, but not the save.
  18. AG/DC wrote: Carter's being disingenuous at many levels. They certainly didn't owe him the first base coaching job after he told them to stick the managing job at Bingo. The Bingo job was an honorable offer, and he declined it --- he's not saying this now but he did then --- because he wasn't up for the long bus rides. That's a perfectly valid answer, but they don't owe him his pick of jobs, and they certainly don't owe him anything like a timetable for when he'd get to manage the Mets. That's a professional insult to Willie Randolph. There was also a rumor that I think had some merit that Carter, rather than go to AA Binghamton preferred to stay in the FSL for tax purposes.

  20. Well, we're more than 10% through the home season. Let's get this 8th inning anthem thing settled, darnit.
  21. It's not so much the fraternizing itself, I think it's the fact that it is the opposing manager who is being fawned over is what gets Willie's goat.
  22. It's good to be a pro ballplayer
  23. Highlights show he has the same goofy glasses. So that's a plus in my book.
  24. Put my kid to sleep last night, dozed off myself, and missed Duaner's appearance. He's now had two outings, and the stat sheet looks pretty good from last night: 1.2 innings, one walk, one infield hit, removed for Feliciano in a lefty-lefty matchup. So for those who have seen him...how's he looking? Please post on all things Duaner (or as Mike Francesa calls him, Dwayne R.).
  25. Rollins will not be back with the team until Saturday. He is at his uncles funeral in California. Whether he can play at that time is unknown. The Phillies have treated this quite Met-like: first they said he was day to day; then it was afew days; then he had a couple pinch hit opportunities; according a to Phillie message board I looked at, Rollins looked like he could barely walk, never mind pinch hit. Phillies fans now frustrated that Rollins won't play any time soon, they're down a bench player, Bruntlett stinks, and the pinch hit ABs will push back his retroactive DL time.
