  1. oops, wrong thread. Later

But the First baseman has been mentioned as a prospect in some of the posts above. Later
  4. Well, there WAS a wrestler way back when I followed wrestling (50's)named Verne Gagne. Maybe it was a flash-back typo. Later
  5. Gnat, how has F Pena looked this year? Last year I noticed that he seemed to have his best hitting games when he wasn't behind the plate. Maybe a (then) 17 year old having to call/ manage a game took away from his concentration when at bat? Later
  6. I posted two ND: Pedro IP: 5 1/3 Joba IP: 2 1/3 (rain, and he doesn't re-take the mound) Pedro ER: 2 Joba ER: 1 Pedro K: 4 Joba K: 4 Final Score Mets-Giants: 3-2 Final Score MFYs-Jays: 2-3 Later
  7. I hope he hits .3991. But I'm predicting .343 Later
  8. Yep, that was confirmed on the WFAN update this morning. Later

Screw Torre. Instead of thanking the fans who cheered him for their warm welcome, I heard an interview during which he said he thought the cheers were nice, but they would have been louder in Yankee Stadium. Later

  14. From today's Daily News: Check out #2 about Aaron Heilmann. The writer seems to hint that others beside me think that Aaron may be tipping his pitches , especially his changeup. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/2008/05/27/2008-05-27_ten_ways_to_fix_the_mets.html Later
  15. Yes, the clip starts with an ad. Yes, the interview is 1 1/2 hours long. And, yes, Wally had off the field problems. But as you listen to it, you believe that Wally could be the kind of manager many fans have wanted to replace Willie. Pop the top on a cool one, relax, and listen. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/nybaseballtalk/2008/02/25/wally-backman Later
  16. IMO the only reason Carter wants to manage a major league team in New York is bacause there will be cameras from at least five tv stations at the daily post game news conferences. Later

  19. He's a good athlete, drafted as a 3B, has played in the outfield. Right now his most impressive thing is his eye at the plate. He takes a fair amount of walks, and more impressively, he rarely strikes out. His power seems to already be improving (he has 21 XBH this season, 8 HR). He's always owned lefties, this year he has a 1.100 OPS vs. them. Later
  20. Every one of the issues raised by Lucas has probably been discussed, even debated, on this board. (Well, maybe not the sliding thing) But Lucas has taken the negative side each of those issues and sumarized them all in one place. I don't think any of us have done that. When he doesn't like somebody, he really doesn't like somebody. Later
