Oops, just checked. I confused Duda with Lutz. Duda is the lefty batter, Lutz is the righty. He has played fewer than 10 games in right field in his minor league career, but plenty in left. Let's give the kid a shot. Later

Last night: 7 IP, 0 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 0 HR, 10-6 GB-FB, his AA ERA is now 1.32. It was a 7 inning complete game (second game of a double header). Later

77 % Vic, I appreciated your comments, especially about including the chronological edition of GF I and II. As for your comment about the new things in Citizen Kane, I recall learning in films class that it was the first time that the ceiling of a room had been shown in a movie. And, I would have included his Touch of Evil on the list. But because I haven't seen all of them, I don't know which I would have bumped to make room for it. OK, yes I do. Sound of Music. Later

And the beat goes on. Familia the last 3 games: 20 1/3 IP 30 Ks 16 H 3 ER 6 BB That is ace type stuff especially when you consider he's only 20 until October. The kid just needs to keep that walk rate, or even something close, and everything else will fall in line. Later

He was pulled from the game after GIDP. I hope he didn't pull a hammy trying to beat it out. I asked my guy at Mets Inside Pitch what happened and he hasn't found out yet. If I find out before I have to leave for work, I'll let you know. Later

Ratliff is hitting .329 with 14 home runs and a .977 OPS in Double-A (in 52 games) in his second full season in the system. This is a fourth round pick showing his wears. He's giving the Mets another value bat at the upper levels. You've got to like that. Later

He's now up with Buffalo, and hitting .333. I listened to the wrap up/ highlights of the Buffalo game last night. Kirk's last RBI was a bases loaded walk. The AB before that, he hit a ball off the right field wall and got to second. It wasn't until I saw the box score this morning that I noticed that he was awarded a single. I guess the official scorer felt it made it to second on the throw home. That's what happens when you're on the road. You hit the ball off the freakin' wall and make it to second, it's a DOUBLE. Yer kid wuz robbed, FK, robbed! Later

"Zippity" Duda is the only righthanded power hitting prospect for the Mets playing at a higher level than A ball. That may be to his advantage when he is compared to the others (Kirk, Ratliff, Martinez, Lutz, et. al.) I'm not sure whether Evans is part of that group since he has already played in the majors.
