  1. Nice stateside debut, kid. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=villas001edi Stop by the house for some good food. We want to put some meat on that lanky frame so you can get your strikeout totals up. Later
  2. Welcome to the bigs, kid. You're on your own now. I'm kicking you out of the house. But you're always welcome to stop by and pay a visit. Later
  3. Wilmer, who just turned 19, had his best full year (at two A levels): http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=flores003wil He finally showed some consistent XB power that has come with his body developing. Later
  4. Got a report saying that not only is the foot ok (it was different from his prior foot injuries) but that he has been brought up to Buffalo to replace Duda. Later
  5. Welcome to the bigs, kid. You're on your own now. I'm kicking you out of the house. But you're always welcome to stop by and pay a visit. Later
  6. Last night's start, his first in AAA: 8 IP, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 K, 1 HR, 10-2 GB-FB, 1.13 ERA And a no decision. Later
  7. Heard on the Bisons game last night he has been promoted to Buffalo, will be starting Monday. Later
  8. Oops, just checked. I confused Duda with Lutz. Duda is the lefty batter, Lutz is the righty. He has played fewer than 10 games in right field in his minor league career, but plenty in left. Let's give the kid a shot. Later
  9. Last night: 7 IP, 0 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 0 HR, 10-6 GB-FB, his AA ERA is now 1.32. It was a 7 inning complete game (second game of a double header). Later
  10. 77 % Vic, I appreciated your comments, especially about including the chronological edition of GF I and II. As for your comment about the new things in Citizen Kane, I recall learning in films class that it was the first time that the ceiling of a room had been shown in a movie. And, I would have included his Touch of Evil on the list. But because I haven't seen all of them, I don't know which I would have bumped to make room for it. OK, yes I do. Sound of Music. Later
  11. And the beat goes on. Familia the last 3 games: 20 1/3 IP 30 Ks 16 H 3 ER 6 BB That is ace type stuff especially when you consider he's only 20 until October. The kid just needs to keep that walk rate, or even something close, and everything else will fall in line. Later
  12. My Inside Pitch guy sent me this link: At least it doesn't seem as serious as his prior foot injuries: http://www.pressconnects.com/article/20100814/SPORTS02/8140337/1118/B-Mets-cautious-with-gimpy-Lutz He also said he'd be attending the Bingy game on Tuesday to learn more. Later
  13. All he could find out was that is an "undisclosed injury, and he is listed day-to-day". Later
  14. He was pulled from the game after GIDP. I hope he didn't pull a hammy trying to beat it out. I asked my guy at Mets Inside Pitch what happened and he hasn't found out yet. If I find out before I have to leave for work, I'll let you know. Later
  15. Ratliff is hitting .329 with 14 home runs and a .977 OPS in Double-A (in 52 games) in his second full season in the system. This is a fourth round pick showing his wears. He's giving the Mets another value bat at the upper levels. You've got to like that. Later
  16. He's now up with Buffalo, and hitting .333. I listened to the wrap up/ highlights of the Buffalo game last night. Kirk's last RBI was a bases loaded walk. The AB before that, he hit a ball off the right field wall and got to second. It wasn't until I saw the box score this morning that I noticed that he was awarded a single. I guess the official scorer felt it made it to second on the throw home. That's what happens when you're on the road. You hit the ball off the freakin' wall and make it to second, it's a DOUBLE. Yer kid wuz robbed, FK, robbed! Later
  17. Lutz now has 15 HRs in 155 ABs at AA. Later
  18. "Zippity" Duda is the only righthanded power hitting prospect for the Mets playing at a higher level than A ball. That may be to his advantage when he is compared to the others (Kirk, Ratliff, Martinez, Lutz, et. al.) I'm not sure whether Evans is part of that group since he has already played in the majors. Later
  19. My tall, thin, unpronouncably-named kid is currently pitching in the Gulf Coast Rookie League: http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=villas001edi Decent ERA, not as many strikeouts as i would like. Later
  20. C'mon, Ceetar. Its only a dollar a day to support a kid. Haven't you been watching all those Sally Struthers commercials? Later
  21. So, uh, can you tell us how you really feel? Don't hold back. LOL! Later
  22. I linked this in my thread called "The Orphanage" in this forum: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/mets/2009/10/instructional-league-rosters.html#ixzz0VExw90e5 Oh, Vaughn would be a good pick. Later
  23. themetfairy wrote: The kid is alright in St. Lucie Good for your kid. That linked article is a keeper. Especially where it calls Ollie Perez a right-hander. Is he working on something during his rehab we don't know about? Later
  24. In the 13 games since his promotion to St. Lucie, Wilmer has been hotter than the weather. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=527038 Later
