  1. I didn't see anything other than East / West that makes me think they will be broken into eight 4 team divisions. If he wants to keep some of the "old feel", why not 4 eight team divisions(2 East, 2 West)? It would bring back some of the old school feel, when there were 8 team leagues. Later
  2. I feel like Don Corleone, sadly telling the mortician, "Look how they messed with my boy". Later
  3. I'd like to see a better angle to check whether part of the ball touched the ground when he was rolling over. His thigh hid it for a second. If so, it would be a no catch, like in football. Later
  4. Still holding my breath, awaiting the results of the MRI on Alvarez' thumb. Later
  5. Yes. Hits given up by the pitcher who relieved him drove in the last three runs. Later OE: Ding! The light just went on. You were pointing out that runs could be scored without the benefit of home runs- your message all year long. Well played.
  6. Jonah is now 1-0 in AAA. His numbers in his first start at that level: 5.2IP 3H 0R 0ER 2BB 9K and his ERA is obviously 0.00 He threw 90 pitches, and 60 were strikes. Later
  7. WINS all-news radio was announcing (on one of their very infrequent sports reports) that "The Mets are hosting Seattle at CitiField tonight". I called the station and told them of the mistake, saying that you wouldn't want to go there and find out there isn't a game. It took them one full news cycle, but they corrected it. The traffic reporter said, the traffic on the Grand Central Parkway is heavy, even though the Mets won't be playing there tonight. The news anchor later said the game will be in Williamsport. Later
  8. As Jim Brosnan was told by his manager (Solly Hemus?) in The Long Season, "Throw as hard as you can for as long as you can". A good philosophy. Later
  9. Yes. That philosophy would have to be changed, not just the coach or manager who are following orders. Later
  10. As a concept, or do you feel another manager would stop the practice? Later
  11. How about ridin' that Soto pony for a while? Later

  13. The Seattle pitcher is pitching to a 10-6 record with a 3.08 ERA. Let's raise that ERA up - a LOT! LGM! Later
  14. These debacles can in part be traced to the overworking of the bullpen, which we've commented on throughout this season. The chickens have come home to roost, and they're laying a big, fat egg. The good news is, they've started to hit. Later
  15. I read that he declined a player option before they could release him. Later
  16. SNY announcing he will wear # 26. Later
  17. I just looked at his record and noticed that in 69 innings, he struck out 25 but walked 51!! Wow! Later
  18. Do we have any confirmation whether or not he was named after Nolan Ryan? If he was, 30 is a natural. If not, I picture him as a number 45 kinda' guy. Later
  19. Edgy MD wrote: They're playing by 1965 rules and going without a DH. [CROSSOUT]Does that mean they can bring one into the game later? Or can this pitcher actually hit better than anyone they have on the bench? I'm not sure if that was written before or after I edited my post with information about Sunday's game.[/CROSSOUT] D'oh! Later
  20. I have known a virulent Met hater who roots for the Mariners for over 20 years. C'mon, Mets. Bust out the hitting and straighten out the pitching. It's about time. Scheduling note: Sunday's game will be honoring the Little League World Series, will be shown on ESPN and scheduled for 7:10 PM, so expect a lot of non-essential ESPN-type BS. Later
  21. Trey was the first one out of the bullpen in a game Binghamton won in 10 innings. His numbers: 1.1IP 0H 1R 0ER 1BB 1K his ERA, that ballooned before he went on the IL, is now 5.14 Later
  22. When I first saw his name, I thought it was a typo for helper. That's all I remember. RIP Later
  23. Brandon had problems tonight. his numbers: 3.1IP 3H 6R 5ER 3BB 6K 0HR and his ERA rose to 4.40 Later
  24. This is the second straight night they've faced a starter who came into the game with an ERA over 6.00, and as of now, they could lose both of them. Later
