  2. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: And talk about something that unites both sides of the aisle against-- who DECIDES to switch team allegiance in the first place? Someone who roots for a team that leaves for another city. And David, it is no illusion. I was able to shed the team that left Brooklyn very well. Randy Newman wasn't right all the time. Later

Later Oh please, it's not even the atomic weight of Lithium. You're right. Its been over 50 years since I took Chemistry in College. I should have said Atomic Number. But who the frack cares? I still don't the Mets to sign him. Later

  5. metsguyinmichigan wrote: Instead, the GM went along, and were betting he regrets it now. Thats because an ex-Marine always is a Marine a jarhead for life. Klap-trap has not only insulted the Mets and their fans in the past, but now he insults Marine loyalty too? The motto is "Unit, Corps, Country". And Sandy was being loyal to his unit. You do not second-guess. I'm betting he would lose his bet. He is an insult to journalism. Later (As you can probably tell, I'm pissed.)
  6. I remember the stories of when Bobby was a starter in the minors that said that he not only maintained his velocity in later innings but actually increased it (in the upper 90's). I'm guessing that the reason they converted him to a reliever was the lack of a decent second pitch. Now that he's learning one, are there thoughts of turning him back into a starter? I dunno. But f they are, and because he has an option left, I think he may start the year as a starter in Buffalo. That said, that makes predicting his production as a Met very iffy. But here goes: 20 games (11 as a starter), 67 IP, 3.44 ERA, 71K/ 27BB. Later
  7. I'm encouraged by Santana's performance. With him, the top speed isn't as important as the difference in speeds between his fastball and his changeup. And, as we have heard since infancy (in fact it was one of the nursery rhymes sung to me as a child), lefties have more movement on their pitches than righties. Didn't do any good, however. I was a righty. Later
  8. RIP, Don. He's in the record books as being one of five teammates to homer in the same inning when he played for the Twins. (The other homers were hit by Harmon Killebrew, Tony Oliva, Rich Rollins and Zoilo Versalles.) That card takes us back to the days when the card companies would wait for the teams to come to New York to shoot the pics. Note the famous facade atop the pre-renovation Yankee Stadium I in the background. Later
  9. I wonder how many CPF-ers would buy one of those $20 million shares if they had the money. If I hit one of those huge Lotto prizes, I would try to buy one. Later
  10. Thank you. Very much. Later
  11. The first sign of spring to me is not the first spring training game, but the first spring training box score. (Remember when the Sporting News used to print them?) I can hardly wait. Later
  12. A guy who throws 95-100MPH like Parnell needs to be able to pitch inside. Keeps the batters from digging in/ feeling comfortable against him. But if he were going to hit someone, I wish it would have been someone else's adoptee. Later

The Mets' doctors are apparently the ones who caught it. That's why there are GPs and there are Specialists. I didn't say diagnose, I said "treat". Later
  14. Would you trust the Mets doctors to treat YOU for something that could kill you? Send him somewhere else for a second opinion and any necessary treatment. QUICKLY!! Better yet, send him to see Chuck Norris, who can cure everything. Memo to the rest of the Mets (except the owners): STAY THE FUCK OUT OF VALLEYS!!! Later
  15. If someone can find a link to a box score of yesterday's (first) intrasquad game, can you please post it? Thanks, Later
  16. My kid Legares played center and right in the minors last year, so he probably has a good arm. I wonder why is he in left and Baxter in right. Its not like he would be a platoon with Duda in right because they're both lefty hitters. Later
  17. Why can't he just get lost? For good. The only difference between this thread and a Groundhog Day like experience is that we keep seeing Jeffy, but in different places. It's scary. Later
  18. metirish wrote: Liking this fella more and more. Yes, but Nina Espinosa? Sounds like one of the answers to the questions GIs would ask to find the English-speaking infiltraters in their midst. Later
  19. Well, most of those were better than,"Hey Buddy, can you spare a dime?" But after the court ruling, that may be the most appropriate. Later
  20. HahnSolo wrote: From Metsblog. Context would be important here, but it doesn't read like Fred is all that confident in what he is saying. Just like the fans. Later
  21. Updated, but reminds me of when Paul Richards developed an oversized mitt for catching Hoyt Wilhelm. Later
  22. Sandy has said "We're not as bad as most poeple think". Should that be the Mets' slogan this year? If not, what would you suggest? Later

  24. Edgy, I think the Latin translation of your review is "collectae rectae". Even if that's not correct, it sounds a lot classier in Latin. Thanks for the warning. I'll miss it. Later
  25. In the second one, it looks like Jeff is smiling because he just saw the guy on the right use that dildo he's holding. Later
