  1. ESPN: WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Jeurys Familia is headed to New York to be examined by team doctors. Familia landed on the disabled list May 12 with what has been labeled biceps tendinitis. He made a pair of rehab appearances with Class A St. Lucie before the issue resurfaced. Terry Collins recently had expressed hope Familia would be back on a mound this past weekend after letting the issue calm. Familia told ESPNNewYork.com at Palm Beach International Airport on Tuesday morning that he is not in pain -- just that he cannot fully extend his arm during his delivery. Later
  2. I'm guessing Redux will be the first, but that does not give me a warm, fuzzy, feeling. I'd rather it would be the Leather Rocket. Later
  3. When last seen after today's game, Ankiel was on his way to the Interstate. Later

  5. Bud Harrelson is an executive, and coach, of the Long Isand Ducks. If you'd like to follow their fortunes, their games are carried on 103.9 on your FM dial. Later
  6. I'm not a cover keeper. But the one SI cover I have (somewhere in my house) is a picture of Gary Carter in Montreal catcher's gear. And the cover article is "Why The National League is Better". Later

    Sweep!

Don 't get too excited yet. Let's see what they can do now that they're past the easy part of their schedule. (insert winkie thingie hre) Hey, I just realized Jeff Wilpon was right. We haven't seen Mariano again after Tuesday. Later
  11. He's given up 4 runs all year, and they were all in the same game. He has not been scored upon in any other appearance. Amazing. Later
  12. Heard an interview recently in which Heffner said he'd be ok with moving to the bullpen to be a "long man", as long as it would help the club. It may be cliche-speak, but he sounded like he meant it. Also, its been a while since Gee has pitched out of the pen, and I'm not sure if he would be comfortable in that role. Of course, my opinion is subject to change on a game-by-game basis. Later
  13. Saw a long coming attraction for Man of Steel in the movies, so I didn't see if these trailers were different. It takes Clark from a scruffy young man(stubble, backpack and all) to Superman. I usually wouldn't want see it. But since I have a tough beard, I really want to know what kind of razor he used to cut his. Late

  17. Thanks for the explanations. Tejada better clear up his vision by pulling his head out of his ass. Omar Quintanilla is hitting .323 at Las Vegas. Lter
  18. I just KNOW the VYF in my office is going to blame it on the fact Rivera had to pitch twice tonight (once before the game). Y'know what? Fuck him. I got out of work, turned on the radio in my car just in time to hear Terry get tossed and the score 1-0 MFYs. Then I turned it off. Did Terry have a legit complaint? What was the play? Later

  22. While we're looking at season records, what is the single Mets season record for lowest team batting average? They have to be close, or (shudder) lower. Later
  23. Don't know if this was noted in another thread-From ESPNNew York: The Mets will honor retiring Yankees closer Mariano Rivera before Tuesday's game at Citi Field, a team official told ESPNNewYork.com. Teams have been honoring Rivera during his final season as he visits their stadiums for the last time during the regular season. He has been presented with checks for his charity as well as gifts. Rivera has also met with fans and team employees during his stops, sharing experiences and stories. Last season, the Mets gave retired Braves third baseman Chipper Jones artwork as part of his farewell tour. Insert appropriate barfing emoticon here. Later
