Later the % is the percent of all votes cast, not the % of the number of ballots cast so 1/202 (as of this post) is less than .5 and therefore rouded down to 0% Isn't the real HOF voting based on percentage of ballots cast? So if several voters vote for fewer than 10 candidates, it doesn't matter. Why is this calculated differently? Later

  5. You were never sure if you were going to get Good Dice-K or Bad Dice-K. Useful in spurts, and despite his erratic use never told Terry Collins to f*ck himself, at least not in English. I case you're interested, when I was in the Army, a guy from Hawaii told me that the Japanese words for that are (I'm trying to do this phonetically, and its been a long time): eye-ICK-a-tie. And I have no way of verifying this. As for Dice-K, He was fun to watch. Later
  6. Alan Dykstra signed to a minor league contact with Tampa Bay. He never was a 40 man roster Met, but will always be in our hearts. I wish him well. Later

  8. I'm sooooo f'n happy that he signed with an AL club. There's still a chance the Mets could play his team a few times each year. The only thing that would have made me happier would have been if he had signed with Team Cuba. Later
  9. According to Yahoo Sports, the Pirates have designated Ike Davis for assignment. Later
  10. I think the toughest decision was to add the reliever (Robles) over the starter (Logan Verrett). IMO the tie breaker/ deciding point was every team's search for home grown, young, relief talent. Time will tell. But I have no major heartburn over the guys they added. Later
  11. Ceetar wrote: Ceetar wrote: I wonder how they treat A-Rod passing Mays? Well, to start with they'll cut him a check for Six Million Dollars - cuz it's in the contract that they have to. Not sure that they'll be much in a celebratory mood after that. see I was figuring the opposite "crap, we better market this enough to make back at least 7 mill" They'll make a profit because Steiner Sports will sell the ball for $20 million and split the proceeds with the MFYs. 12. RIP, lefty. Later
  13. Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Who will fill in at my grandson's birthday party? Later

  16. I would be very hesitant to offer any kind of long term deal to someone who has yet to prove there won't be (long term) effects from that beaning. Later
  17. I know he is elegible to be taken in the Rule V Draft (if not added to the 40 man roster) , but is the asterisk for Gamboa because he played in the Mexican League last year? Was he still property of the Mets on loan to them? If he was sold to them, then he can't be protected by the Mets. BTW - you do a great job on these. Later
  18. Its funny (there must be a better word) that the article notes that Dark had a wide range of relationships with minority players, but I recall that his nickname in his playing days was "Blackie". I don't think he'd be called that today. RIP Alvin. Later
  19. If every team in the league has decent, if not good or better, pitching, then IMO the team with the superior offense has the edge. As has been said many times (well, by me), "nobody in the history of baseball has won a 0-0 tie". Later
  20. I have questioned Niese's heart, and intimated that he may also lack two another significant anatomical parts. But now is the first time I question his head. Later
  21. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Yes it is an old article. You lazy guys and your lazy Rubening. (slapping forehead) Didn't have to search too far. Those bastages at Yahoo sports linked to it this week like it was new. The Flores 2013 stats should have been a giveaway, too. Later
  22. Edgy MD wrote: Who is "Majia"? He split his time between the brain fart and typo leagues last year. Meant Tejada. Later
  23. Edgy MD wrote: Miguel Socolovich, 2014 Las Vegan, signs a minor deal with the Cardinalia. Every time I read that name, it made me do a double take. The first and last names just didn't go together. Now I probably won't have to read it so often. Later
  24. So, of all the options being identified, the guys who can hit may not be able to play short or have been moved to other positions by their current teams. We have one of those - Flores. And the guys mentioned who can field may not be able to become good hitters at the major league level. We have a few of those - Majia, Tovar. So, why give up a decent asset to just keep treading water or provide marginal improvement? Unless the Mets can acquire a real difference maker, why do anything? Let's keep Flores at short and see if his improvement in the field was just short-sample related or something really improved by that time he spent at that special workout camp last year. Sometimes, the best moves you can make are no moves at all. And Sandy agrees: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/80754/alderson-flores-at-shortstop-not-dead Later
  25. And while we're at it, WTF is the Antelope Valley Press and why does one of their writers get a vote for ROY? It sounds like if it were a New York City paper, they's be giving it out free at subway stations. Later
