  1. This is good to hear about John Farrell: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/great-news--red-sox-manager-john-farrell-s-cancer-is-in-remission-212144361.html Later
  2. (Told to me by a Retired US Army General) "You can always tell a Marine. You just can't tell him too much". We can be thankful that Sandy didn't listen to all the fans who were telling him things he should do. Later

I wouldn't look forward to a Billy Crystal movie if its main character were hand-feeding Bartolo Colon riblets, sporting a Mackey Sasser tobacco lump, and massaging Rusty's feet while simultaneously splashing the pot on his medical-plane Kickstarter. Actually, I might see that movie. But only on cable. Later
  4. I was a member of the "It took the reliever 8 pitches to get three outs. Why can't he go another inning" club that criticized Terry's systematic bullpen usage. I also disliked his resting the regulars in games down the stretch and not go for home field advantage over L.A. I'll eat some crow, but please pluck out all the pinfeathers first. Later
  5. I don't know the vintage on that bottle, but THIS has been a very good year, And, if you listen carefully to the videos of the celebration, somebody is saying to Conforto "Here's your water". I took that as a comment about his age, although he's of legal age. Later
  6. Sorry to hear that, Kase. Our thoughts are with the family. Later

  9. I heard that this will be the first World Series in history where none of the original 16 major league franchises is participating. Later

  11. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: I think that it was a sweep and a blow-out last game made it sort of an inevitable thing and not an explosion of emotion. I was jumping for joy when they clinched the division and then after beating the Dodgers, which was a much more tense series. Last night was exciting for sure -- but a different type of experience. Maybe that's what I feel, but didn't put into the proper words. Thanks, Later
  12. Before this season started, if you thought that Bartolo Colon would be the winning pitcher in a pennant clinching game for the Mets, raise your hand. Later
  13. Any word yet about Uribe being able to play? Later

  15. Actually, I'm not as happy this morning as I thought I might be. Now that the Mets are in the Word Series, the year doesn't seem complete. Its as though I expect them to win it all. OMG! It must be the same feeling YLDBs feel - smug and complacent, not happy with just winning the pennant. I'm turning into a MLDB! Help! So, how do YOU feel today? Later

  17. What has happened here is that we're getting the band back together. Screen names we haven't seen for a while have been showing up in recent posts. And that is a good thing. Welcome back, folks. We've missed you. Later

I won't pretend to be above reveling in others' misery; in my time, I've gotten UGLY regarding fans of the Phils, MFYs, and many, many others over many a perceived slight. But I've got absolutely no interest in dancing on these guys' graves, here. You're right. Be nice to a Cubs fan. Take him out to dinner at a Caribbean restaurant . Then order curried goat. Later
