  1. I voted against capital thrill the first time around and I did it again. There's just something about it I don't like, but I'm not sure what it is. Plus, the nail in the coffin thingie works for me. Later
  2. If Steve Schreiber is still involved in baseball (is he still alive?), I'd see if he would take the job with the Mets. IIRC he was once the Director of minor league player development and learned his organizational skills under a master of building a baseball organization - Frank Cashen. As for DPD, he has strong organizational development skills and uses statistics as an analytical tool. Those are skills that can translate from one industry(sport) to another. It was a clever choice by the Browns and a possible indication that they want to start doing things right for a change. I hope they allow him to do his job as he learns the new sport. Later
  3. Casper the Friendly Ghost is a fun ghoul. And there have been a few times in the past few days that some CPF-ers wanted to tell others "fun-ghoul". Just saying. Back to the main purpose of this thread, whatever that was. Oh yeah, predictions. Later
  4. I rarely copy and post an article in its entirety. (Not never, but rarely). Since I usually just post the link, with my own comments, this seems ok to me. Later
  5. Since nobody has posted but you, why don't you just copy the thread (or cut and paste it) into the baseball forum? Then, delete the thread from this forum. I won't mind if this post goes bye bye when you do it. Later
  6. Did the person who picked who would be in/out ever speak to someone associated with the team? If so, how long ago? Later
  7. Karl "The Sign Man" Ehrhardt. "No Pepper" signs Later
  8. Edgy MD wrote: All threads lead to the same place. My tongue was firmly in cheek when I wrote that. Are we going to have to start using sarcasm meter readings again? Later
  9. Great! Maybe the Wilpons will read this and come to the conclusion that their great young pitchers do need more help from the offense and increase Sandy's budget. Later
  10. Benjamin Grimm wrote: For being featured on the highest-ranked Newsday cover, Noah Syndergaard will receive a box of Rice-A-Roni (the San Francisco treat) and a bottle of Turtle Wax. He's not going to receive the home version of the Tabloid Cover Derby game? Later
  11. It was like being reunited with an old friend. Things pick up just about where they left off the last time we saw each other. We try to fill in what happened when we were apart and go on from there. Highly enjoyable. Later
  12. Michael Hiltzik (The person who wrote that, for those of you who didn't click on the link) writes like someone who can see the negative side of anything. He must have had a miserable childhood, never letting his imagination run free or allowing any fun into his life. Maybe he's setting us up for an upcoming book about what's wrong with Hollywood. Later
  13. Currently doing well in Winter Ball. Check out the announcer's call of the homer. http://www.nj.com/mets/index.ssf/2015/12/mets_prospect_wuilmer_becerra_raking_in_winter_bal.html Later

  16. Scott Kasmir to the Los Angeles NL team. 3 years. Didn't hear the terms. OE- 3 yrs, $48 million Later
  17. The Polo Grounds, Ebbets Field, Forbes Field and Sportsman's Park. Les Keiter recreating SF baseball games back to New York, and rushing to squeeze the games into his time slot. Later
  18. When you said a team was "strong up the middle" defense was the first thing you considered. Later
  19. If anyone adds designated hitter to this thread, we will give you five minutes to delete your post. That should be enough time to take your meds and THEN delete your post. Later
  20. Happy Felton's Knot Hole Gang. Later
  21. Nymr83 wrote: Benjamin Grimm wrote: I also miss complete games. And black uniforms, too, but in the way that you'd miss a sinus infection. I'd add that I miss the days when the "closer" role would be shared by two pitchers, a righty and a lefty, like McGraw and Frisella or Orosco and McDowell. I hate the Mets' black uniforms. I also hate the closer role. Maybe that stuff should be a separate thread, Later

  23. I can just hear Suzyn now: "Oh my GAWD, John. That pitch was ONE HUNDRED miles per hour. And she still managed to dodge it." Later
