The ChiSox already have Lawrie at second and Frazier at third in, IIRC, the last year or two of his contract. Maybe they'll keep him until they think Mondaca is ready. If they think the kid is ready, would they entertain an offer for Frazier? We may know by the middle of the year, or sooner. Keep an eye on this one. Later
  2. Vic Sage wrote: I'm suggesting lefty hitting Bruce for righty hitting Ryan Braun, who has three or four more years on his contract (the next 2 @ 20 million). Fill in with AAAA types on both sides. Then the Mets trade Granderson for the help/ prospects needed to offset the budget bulge. Later Braun had almost the same wRC+ (weighted runs created) as Cespedes. That'd be a steal. it's not a steal, it's a hallucination. Hey, MFS, lie down and let it pass. It was a genu-wine WATP, and don't you forget it. I was curious to see how long it would take for someone to notice/ comment on it. Later
  3. I heard on the radio that the ceremony (I use the term loosely) will be held on Mothers Day. Seems to me that they're missing a hyphen and another word. Later
  4. Mets in a Landslide. A small comment that the MFYs fail in the clutch put it over the top for me. Later
  5. I guess that answers part of the question "Who can I turn to?" Later

  8. What about the guy who has probably spent more time on a playing field wearing a Mets uniform than anyone else (player, coach, majors and minors)- Al Jackson?* Later * = no data, but a gut feel
  9. Lefty Specialist wrote: RELIEVE is hilarious: The KC logo that gets pissed on; the Harvey macho posturing as though he just finished using it (with his glove on!); the terrible pun that's also Met-related; the extra digs in the subhead: Flushed, "hold it in." I'll bet Harvey irl does pump his fists after peeing. How on Earth can it lose to a crappy inset photo of a pig? All this and more. Yep. That pig cover page didn't seem Kosher to me. Later
  10. Edgy MD wrote: Yeah, I think Sandy might look into buying his kids some new Welingtons this Christmas (After looking at his numbers) I sure hope Sandy does. And, FK, kudos on the thread title. Later
  11. Not Bringin' Sexy Back and Home for the Holidays did it for me. Those have been the two most important stories to me since the season ended. Later
  12. In Braveheart - during the first major battle scene, Mel Gibson (ptui) is shown running into battle carrying a sword. Then, he's shown without his sword, pumping his fists as he runs. Then he has his sword in hand again as the battle begins. I'm not sure if that's bad editing or an oversight by the continuity person. Later
  13. Edgy MD wrote: I think we have 28 ballots with Bagwell and Vladwell each named on 27. OK, I'll 'fess up. I'm a vter who didn't vote for Raines. Yes, he was a good player for an extended period of time. But if you had awakened me in the middle of the night at any time during his career and asked me to name the top 5 players in the game, I don't think I would have named him. Yes. he complied some outstanding numbers, but he just didn't hit me as being an all- time great while he was playing. Like Dennis Miller said, "Its just my opinion and, I may be wrong". Later
  14. Yo, what's up - the Nets mention put it over the top for me. Later
  15. Octoberfest - all the beer aficionados here should be voting for this one. Later
  16. The whole theme of this thread reminds me of the line from FIDDLER ON THE ROOF where the man asks the local Rabbi if there's a prayer for the Czar. The Rabbi responds with: May God bless and keep the Czar ... far away from us Bravo! Later
  17. MFS62 wrote: The next Mets stadium should have a Fred Wilpon Rotunda. Later I'm sorry. That was a combination of euphoria and post-surgical meds. It won't happen again. Later

  19. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I doubt it. Everything isn't about the Cubs. Of course not. Its about the Cardinals - because they have the "best fans in baseball". (I've been watching too much ESPN. I gotta' lie down) Later
  20. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: Schilling and Kent. What's the matter with you lib'ral lezzies? I voted for Kent, too. Nothing to do with politics - he was very good. Later
  21. I also voted for Wagner, so I'll go for my second least voted choice: Lee Smith. He was the all-time saves leader during the era in which he pitched. And he wasn't just a pampered "closer". In those days, some saves were earned by pitching multiple innings. Later
  22. The next Mets stadium should have a Fred Wilpon Rotunda. Later
  23. Late to the thread; couldn't use a computer yesterday (eye surgery). But you might have heard my screams of joy when my wife told me the news. Later
