  1. WFAN's JJ (John Jastremski) Was in favor of getting this guy yesterday. He spent the entire intro to his show talking about him. JJ is a screaming cretin, like Chris "Mad Dog" Russo. So I was against this move. You folks just told me my instincts were right. Later

  3. When I vote, in the back of my mind I want the eventual winner to be something my grandkids will be proud of visiting when they visit Stockholm in 20 years. I don't want that cover to be about an embarrassing moment or incident. I want it to be something people will look at and feel good, something positive. So I couldn't vote for the lineup screw-up. It was something we'd rather forget than remember. Later

  5. Is Martino the guy someone here dubbed "track suit" or was that another reporter (Rubin?) Later
  6. The Mets didn't lose a single player at any level of the draft. That could mean: 1) They did a good job of protecting their talented players, or 2) They didn't have a surplus of players they couldn't protect that anyone would want. I'm guessing it was #2. Nice job, Sandy. Later
  7. ... and hits right handed, so he could platoon with Guillorme for a year or so (until Gimenez or Mercurio is ready) if Rosario must be included in a deal for something major. Just a thought. Later

Can't be too many, although honorary status has to to go to Greg McMichael. Frank Lary was traded to Milwaukee in 1964 and then purchased back from them in 1965. Is that a sub-category? Later And, of course, the patron saint of all ricochet Mets is Harry Chiti. He ricocheted away in the other direction. Another category? Later
  9. So, your roster shows David Wright is on the PUtP list. Is he still protected from the draft? Later

  14. Great article. Cebulski said Marvel must wait for the "right time" to see an Asian Superhero lead in a Marvel film. Yup. The first Asian comic book hero I remember was Chop-Chop, a member of the Blackhawks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackhawk_%28DC_Comics%29 He started out as a stereotypical "cook and mascot" but became a valued member of the team, fighting tyranny and injustice. I collected those comic books as a kid, and later found the last issue (IIRC # 270-something) which I still have somewhere in the house. The article states that Steven Spielberg is considering a film based on the characters, so you may get that Asian hero (channeling the announcer in the trailer) "coming to a theater near YOU." Later
  15. Edgy MD wrote: If they get the deal they want, I don’t particularly care who catches in 2021. You can’t solve all problems at once. You can only hope to solve more than you create. Totally agree. And, about these rumors being reported - Just because they get paid to write this stuff doesn't mean it can't be the most "W" of WATPs, or that it won't happen. Later
  16. JT has two more years on his contract, Thor has three. After that, who would be the catcher for the Mets? (if they can't re-sign him?) The organization is thin at that position. But, if the deal involves moving Frazier and one corner outfielder and getting JT and Andujar (and getting a starter in a separate deal or free agency), I'd be willing to listen. And worry about who catches in two years. Later
  17. Benjamin Grimm wrote: The first report I'm seeing is that a "Quality Control Coach" is a liaison between the front office and the coaching staff. It sounds like he'll be in uniform in the dugout spying on Mickey and the other coaches. Sounds like Police Internal Affairs - the "Rat Squad" - to me. Here's a suggestion to the players and coaches, keep you back to the wall, but listen for drilling. Later

  20. What (TF) does a quality control coach do? I could see one being needed before, but now Riggleman is there to check the lineup cards. Later

  23. Edgy MD wrote: It's like, line up the douchebags this winter. The Mets are coming. As someone else noted, nobody liked the 1986 Mets. And the World Series winning Gashouse Gang Cardinals used to fight each other in the locker room. I'd rather win with "nice" and "We are Fam-i-lee". But if they go after douchebags, I hope they would be productive douchebags. Later

Such contracts, with games played incentive targets, have been done before. But with Travis' injury history, I'd set the first plateau at one game. And his agent would set his first response as "Get stuffed." Contracts come with risks. Non-tendering is always a tough call. Did I really have to show the reading on my sarcasm meter for this one? It was my way of saying that Travis has had such a difficult time staying on the field, I wouldn't want to tender him a contract at all. Later
